Ok I know you can't get any stats from items in the AMMO slot but does this mean you can get skill mods? If that is true I wouldn't need to move my Grandmaster Smithing Hammer out of that slot to get the skill mod.
I think that you only get the skill mod with it in the ammo slot if you are using it. Putting bait in the ammo slot causes it to be used up when you fish. Don't think it will help with tackle box combines by having it in ammo slot though.
