this is a cheaper and almost as good alternative to PSC. who cares about the rec of 50 i know i wont have the cash to but a PSC, until atleast 55. I would probably but this instead of a PSC or Barbed ringmail just to be different. I do agree that chain classes did get a little screwed, look a the raex line of armour compared to the planestriders. The effect of the rngs is ok but its only 52 ac, almost all the raex pieces have more ac than that. I know that its plate vs chain, but still at least a 10ac increase for planestriders (i dont really understand the plane armour too well is that the right comparison or is there a better ranger plane armour).

ever notice EQ's preferance for these classes with the advent of PoP?

sure, there is uber gear for all, but dropable and this easily attainable? theres this, plus the chains of the accused, the polished mithril torque, and a host of other simple to get items for these classes... wheres the easy to get mele gear?

if i were a ranger, this beats out barbed ringmail, hands down. 2 ac less, but stats pwn it.

For anyone who can get into the factory to do this, this item is pure junk. Factory access requires killing the dragon in PoI who is tougher than fighting dragons and wurms in Halls of Testing. So anyone who can get to the factory likely has Halls of Testing or better level gear.

Verant has neglected chain classes for 4 years. Rangers and rogues especially have been overlooked time and time again for major slot items like breastplates, legs, and arms while plate gear rains down in every expansion.

These toys from PoP do nothing to fix the fundamental problem of someone playing a chain class up for the first time. These items are twink gear for an alt of a plate class.

Verant has such seriously bad itemization issues that you can make a good guess at the size, structure, and composition of the live team and where their personal preferences are. If you want to see more proof of this, look at the stats and effects on plate hybrids versus warriors and clerics in PoP.

This item is only of use to an alt ranger, alt rogue, or alt monk whose main can make the cash or loot the item himself.

Wrong answer. My beastlord is factory flagged and is nowhere near ToV equipped or better. He has a few really nice pieces (a PSC), but that's about it. Still wearing Owlbear Claw Earrings for god's sake.

Bah! Typing too fast and hit enter without thinking. Make that alt rangers, rogues, and shaman (not monks).

Wish the AC was a touch higher on it. Otherwise fairly nice item.

They have started making chain class only and leather class only armor. There are some tunics that only Monks Druids and Beastlords can wera. As a pladin, I didn't gripe when I saw these, because before now, plate classes could wear most leather and chain armor. Plate classes also had a section of the armor market all to themselves. Now all armor types do.

Well. It's kind of hard to imagine that some polished TIN chain would have a higher AC then a fine STEEL plate but this is EQ after all.Smiley: wink
