because this item is made to be a 1hander for dual wielding melee classes, shms have their own 1handers that are much nicer then this.(ie the witchdoctors cudgel my alt uses)

but why does it have druid on there then? i think thats the point the previous poster was trying to make
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 30 2003 at 5:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Who cares?! There are tons of great 1hb Shaman weapons out there. By the way for those of you who said Shaman only pierce... WRONG!! My 1hb is maxed at 200, my 2hb is maxed at 200 and what do you know my piercing is only at 190. Saying a shaman should only pierce is like saying a Monk should only h2h. It's just dumb! Nuff said!
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 06 2002 at 12:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) shaman dont blunt, they pierce

Actually my partner is a Shammy and her primary weapon (until she finsishes Epic) is a 39/43 2HB, with which she can hit 130+ and has huge stats, including 15WIS. Of course she keeps her pierce skills maxed, because Epic is close now.....

But they do have great blunt weapons, which is way cool for them....Shammy kill!

Shamans are fully capable of wielding 1-hand blunt weapons.

While you are essentially correct Drienne, smart shaman don't 1HB - they pierce - considering the piercing weapons that they can get are in line for their epic.

NOTE: This is a LONG (sorry!) blabbering dialogue about my personal choice of weaponry as a Shammy.
Bottom line: Blunt is Better for ratio at the high end game.
Shammies? read. Everyone else? Maybe if you're bored. Heh.
................Bla Bla Bla INC!................................

Smart shaman? I'm not sure if I'm "smart" (102 INT or so) but I'm very WISE - and I use blunt a LOT in melee. Why? Epic - 20/30 (nice stats/resists) very nice clickable dot.

<click>. Stuff it in a bag, and out comes my 30/35 (nice stats/resists) 2hb. I got my 2hb on a fluke while camping something else - but I'm NOT going to complain about my Book-on-a-Stick - it's HELLA nice. When I got it I wanted a 1hb that drops in Akheva Ruins that has an even better ratio (plus it's 1hb so I can keep my shield on, which is nice for the stats, but mostly because shield swapping for a 2hb is a pain in the ***).

I don't know offhand of any piercers that can do as much damage in melee as our 1h/2h blunt weapons - I'm sure they're out there somewhere (the only one that comes to mind is the Rune Etched Icewurm Fang, which isn't as nice imho), but blunt weapons seem a lot more common.

Now, granted, most of the time I do a LOT more damage with dots than I do in melee - but it depends on the situation. I keep my Spear and shield at the ready when I don't know what to expect, as that's my safest bet (and gives me the most mana). If I'm casting all the time, I keep them on. However, if I'm in an exp group where I'm not busy healing, I melee quite a bit - I can't stack as many dots as I do when I solo because I'll be a HUGE pain in the *** with aggro problems (and while I tank fairly well, other people can do a MUCH better job - except monks! haha! <poke> <poke>). Lately it has occurred to me that I can do roughly the same damage in melee as I can nuking with my straight-up nukes (AoE still rules - esp AoE+DD nukes), assuming I hit well (nice 2hb and 77% haste), and I can GAIN mana meleeing instead of spending it casting (HP+FT/clarity ... + Horse!) Of course, keep in mind that all this action takes place AFTER the mob is debuffed (read: SLOWED).

I realize this is a long and possibly unnecessary post, and while it's probably rough reading (I apologize for posting when I should be in bed), I hope it has at least SOME useful information for at least one shammie out there somewhere. My biggest tip? BUY A HORSE! =) You can't use bearform (boo) but the fact that you med all the time (even while casting!) plus the HUUUUUGE fun factor more than makes up for it - and EVENTUALLY the benefits of bearform seem pretty thin in comparison to FT+Clarity+AAFT.

Anywho, if ANYONE out there managed to get to the end of this convoluted mess and actually wants to talk to me about it, I'll probably be playing on Morell-Thule. Have a good one!

DROP> Epic Quested - long involved quest, but very rewarding, even just for the experience of doing it. A MUST-HAVE just for the effect.

2hb: Rod of Virtue: Dmg 30, Dly 35. +10 Str +10 Sta +15 Wis +15 vsMg +15 vsFire +15 vsCold +15 vsPos +15 vsDis +50 HP +100 Mana +8.20 Wt (Book-on-a-Stick!) - what better use could an Ogre have for a book?
DROP. Umbral Plains off of Doomshade (raid mob similar to Vindi) and the Spirit of Tawro (who I can do with a SK, Rog, and Druid - with ME TANKING haha!). Very nice weapon, not TOO hard to get.

1hb: Aleje's Ceremonial Cudgel: Dmg 40, Dly 38. +5 Sta +10 Wis +10 vsPos +10 vsDis +25 HP +25 Mana +1.00 Wt (WHOA 1hb! Still on my Wishlist).
DROP> Akheva Ruins off of The Va'Dyn. 'Raid Mob' - but can be done with 2 groups. Probably better than the 2hb, but harder to get.

Piercer: Rune Etched Icewurm Fang: Dmg 12, Dly 19. Range 50. +5 Wis +35 Mana +7.00 Wt <Proc: Spirit Strike (74-81 cold-based DD)
DROP> Random drop in Kael near the bank? Not sure. Easy enough to find in The Bazaar - not too pricey either. Good weapon, easy to get, but kinda heavy though - all in all a GREAT mid-to-high-level piercer.

shaman still use their epics?
RE: no Shaman?

Actually, SMART shaman don't limit themselves to just piercing. Just like all classes should, the smart ones will keep at 3 melee skills as high as they can, 1hb, 2hb, and piercing.

No reason to exclude Shaman from an item like theory of the "Nerf Shaman by ignoring they exsist" plot may be gaining some ground here.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 07 2002 at 11:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha now you know how monks feel when it comes to armor :P /rant off aww who am i kidding, my armor is pretty good for lvl 60.. my shoulders have 6 ac for god sake woo woo! :P HAHAHAHA **** VERANT :P
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 06 2002 at 3:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) A few shamans in my guild use post-epic 1hb weaps, Va Dyn (1-2 groupable) drops a 40/38 (that's dmg/delay) wis caster 1hb, goes great with Rabid Bear. People who don't know what you're talking about, plz drive thru, kthx.
#Nitewalka, Posted: Nov 05 2002 at 6:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I say this is usable by anybody! I wanna sport this baby next time I go to Trakanon - hate those dang Froglok Shaman's DoTing my group to death. I know we will get better with time but was still confusing tho. Has everyone been having fun in the Planes? I know having the access from the Newbie Zones to Nexus is nice for me and my Iksar toons - running from EJ was a pain.
