i am not a fan of guidls who AWARD items to specific classes, but IMHO this items BEST suits with SK, as #2 i would put Necro, Shamy and other Hydrids. pure melees as 3rd. Defently NOt a druid/cleric item (sayign this as a druid) - I am in dpk type guild - so anyone who wants bids, but just saying that i would not bid on this item - its much better use to other classes than mine

Plus in same zone, mr Valon drops a neck with even BETTER stats and MP4 on it- truly caster item
Druid Thought
# Feb 17 2004 at 12:33 PM Rating: Excellent
I used DKP last night on a raid to get this as a druid.

First time our guild had taken TZ down (1st attempt -- woot !!) I've passed on the VZ neck even though it had better resists and a more "druid friendly" effect with MP4 (have ornate boots -- same effect)but couldn't let this go for the following reasons:

First, mana and hp go without saying.

Second, the strength and dex. Wow. If ever there is a stat that my druid needed to raise, its there. Horribly important to me as a druid? Not as much as some stats, but great to raise them none - the - less.

Third, regen 3. Is it going to save me when I'm being whooped up on or have a severe DoT laying waste to me? Nope. I cannot begin to count, however, the number of times I've been nearly on my deathbed and trying to keep tanks alive. No time to heal me, so this is a neat little addition. For soloing, the regen is extra - nifty as it will help take care of the occasional smack I take running things in circles.

Fourth, resists. As a druid I can self-buff cold and fire resists mightily. Magic and poison resists seem to be the two (with a similar nod to disease) that I need to raise the most. Those DoT's and nukes kill me far more than the melee.

Now finally a small apology to the one melee class in my guild that I think (in hindsight) might have found a better use for this than my druid self (not that one would have ended up with it in our dkp system, but that's neither here-nor-there). Yes, the oft-overlooked rangers. Warriors and knights are generally maxing their str and dex at this level and get all the tasty buffs in raids. Rangers and their bows would surely benefit from the str and dex here.

In any case, not meaning to open up one of those "which class should get it threads" just pointing out where it might have been most useful in our guild at our stage of equipping. This is a nice piece for anyone who has the points of favor to get it though. Enjoy.
Great Upgrade for Many

I'm in a guild that is a few gods short of breaking into our first Elemental plane. Probably a few months out.

I've been checking loot lists etc for necklaces, and this item is really the one of the best neck items for a Warrior or any other melee/hybrid available to my level of guild.

The debate on "which class it's best for is silly". Most items that Warrior's can use in PoP always have INT/WIS and many of them are ALL/ALL.

This item was a huge upgrade for my warrior who now sits around 8230 hps raid buffed.

I'm not uber, but this necklace is an uber upgrade for many classes, and anyone laughing at 3pts per tick regen on a neck piece, just isn't looking at the bigger picture.

I plan to regen about 100 per tick standing one day on a raid. =)

Tell me then that my regen doesn't matter.

Regen from items that does not provide an icon (ie Fungi Tunic, Aura of Healing, Aura of Battle, Composure, etc.) is capped at 30/tick.

Yes it does and with regen AA, his troll regen, bard regen and blessing of replenishment that would be 100 exactly. 8()

Dont be stupid people.

Great for all classes.

Not just the class you play.

Sick of the "best for this class debate"

Get all classes to 65 and play each of them for a year.

Then maybe you will have a better idea what you are talking about
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 14 2003 at 3:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) A number of posters here are saying this is a shaman necklace or a good choice for a shaman in particular, but I'd say the opposite. It has a required level of 61, and at 60, shamans get torpor. Not broke or lazy or unlucky shamans or ones who can't get help from their guilds, but they aren't the most likely ones to be killing Zeks anyway. Torpor is quite doable for 61 shamans capable of getting in on Zek kills. And at 65 comes Quiessence. Some shamans skip torpor completely and go right to Quiessence.

Rogue
# May 26 2003 at 2:52 AM Rating: Decent
As a rogue, i decided to bid on this item (and won it) because, te better my regen is the less mana the healers waste, if a mob gets a few lucky hits in my regen with all inate and item regeneration it takes about a min fo me to go from 70% health to 100% health, by the end o the fight im all healed up=) Full buffs 6400 HP

Give the class debate a rest
# Feb 04 2003 at 10:43 AM Rating: Default
As for the class debate, this is a very good necklace for any class that uses mana. Raw hp always helps, the WIS/INT and raw mana make this superb. I'm a bard and I wear it. The INT and mana pushed me over the hump of being able to use Fading Memories an additional time inside my mana pool.

Only downside to this necklace is that it doesn't have any STA, but I can live without.

And honestly, the baby Zeks aren't all that hard. Like most things in PoP, they aren't traditional tank, CH, tank, CH fights. A little creativity and these guys do down like **** stars.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 03 2003 at 3:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) By the time any guild is here to kill him, pretty much all MTs will have 100hp/saves necklace on, if they don't they are probably not tanking.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2003 at 8:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) "this is all of course raid buffed (which is really all that matters)"??? So you are saying that high end characters ONLY raid? According to my friend's lvl 62 Shaman, he solos MOST of the time, or he is in a small group that doesn't get raid buffed. So this necklace is good for any class (yes, ANY class) to use.

Normally I dont get drawn in to these "it would be best on a XXX class", but I sorta will here. Folks who have posted on this have no idea what it will take to take this guy down to get this item, and I dont really either. What I DO know is that any tank that hasnt got to atleast 200 if not 250 melee stats at 60 now might as well hang it up. Actually, come play with me, Im kinda tired of being told as a shaman that " no, I dont need your buffs Im capped". This item probably isnt a huge upgrade for most of the people that will kill this guy, and having it certainly will not make or break a raid. Nice item tho. For the other 99% of us that still need buffs to get to 255 cap ( i heard it was supposed to be 275 maybe with aa??), come see your friendly ( and sarcastic, funny, ugly, etc.) shaman.

PS...It really irks me that after reading the books in the great library in PoK that these guys have already been killed...they have really lost there touch over the years hehe ( Vallon and Tallon Zek ). Maybe they got cursed too...

Grats Shamen and Necos on the nice regen item, you guys had them coming for a while, especially necromancers, who to this day have been given the short stick as far as it comes to regeneration worn effects.

well i thought i would put my 2 cents in, i think this is a great MT and even a decent cleric item and that should be all that gets it. That would be pallys, SK and clerics (bards are iffy, considering how often are they MT when on a raid) the effect is great and str, dex, hp and saves, and yes i know it has great stats for any class but think about it it what caster would deprive there meatshield of this and what raid leader would not laugh at a caster if he tried to bid on this.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 11 2002 at 12:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I would disagree with you on your assesment. The regen/hp/int/mana combo on this item make it an ideal necro item. High end necro's provide a huge amount of sustained DPS - something much harder to get than a few HPs on a tank which can come from other items.
RE: MHO
# Nov 05 2002 at 8:31 PM Rating: Decent
I do have to agree that a melee or hybrid would get a ton of use outta this. Although it would be great for any class, str and dex are big for any melee/hybrid. I know my ranger could really use the dex for archery stuff, and my jolt spells would like to proc a lot more (at least when I get em). But just my thoughts on it, really.

ROFLMAO.... Oh I am so sorry your Uberness. I didn't realize RING actually has four letters in it, and, gosh!!, they are four DIFFERENT letters. My deepest apologies for confusing you so. I went ahead and pasted the post here so you don't tax your tremendous intellect...

I am sorry, but these discussions make me sick. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but why oh why do they all say the same thing..."This item will only go to...", and then if anyone DARES to voice any other opinion they say..."...and besides you will never be high enough, or in a good enough guild to get this..." Each and every item in the game has a class/race, and in some cases religion tag on it. Anyone with ANY class and even a modicum of intelligence will use "Can and Will Use, Need Before Greed" loot system. Any class that can use the item and will equip it gets a shot. If you are using any other loot rules you are a moron, and worse, if you are in a guild which "Awards" items you are an even bigger moron.

I just realized two things:
1. I may have some talent at prognostication, and
2. I think I know you. Aren't you the guy who keeps the spawns on a timer and gates/ports into locations and shouts "MonsterX is camped by..." even though there are others who have actually been in the zone camping the same mob for hours...
