skill costs

well you tinkerers think you have it hard, try out Alchemy. Before Luclin I used to spend almost 1k just to gain a couple points at 140-150 skill, and at least someone buys your stuff, who buys any Potions anymore and now that people are selling 10 shot sow potions for 75pp or less us alchimists have nothing to sell anymore for much of a profit...thanks you hi level Shamans for bringing the price down so low.

I was curious what luxiourous ingredients composed this item to justify it's exuberant cost in the bazaar. It's only 7 plat worth of storebought items and one drop of a coiled spring, which seems to be the common item in PoI by several mobs. So far the cost I have seen in the bazaar was 1,000pp. I'm going to hold off and wait for it to drop to a more reasonable price of say 100-300p, after all I do understand to make a 'decent' profit off your tradeskills; however, there is a limit.

From what I understand, the price is directly related to the triv level. To get a tinkering skill to the point of making this item, many tinkers spend hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of plat. to triv low level items and this is one of the highest tinkered items. In comparison, my tailoring does not even compare to the amount my companion (tinkerer) spends on his tinkering skills. He easily would spend 700plat in a round. I think that the investment for this particular item's triv level is in the low K plat region. Since I am usually the one buying items for him with a cha of 205, the average he spends is 50 to 150 plat per skill point. Evidently this a quite expensive trade to learn.
The other factor is supply and demand. How many skilled tinkerers are out there to make the item. I am not supporting or negating the price you mentioned, just giving an explanation of why the trader may have listed that price.

If this is only 7pp a shot and trivials out at 222, why not just make these until it's trivial? Getting your skill from 1-222 at 7pp a shot sounds dirt cheap to me when comparing it to other trade skills like smithing and jewel craft. Although, I don't know much about tinkering so perhaps that's not how it works.

This happens to be one of the lore only tinkered recipes so you can only have one on char at a time, might be why no one had one for sale, had to bug someone to make it and when i did I got it for 200pp which i think is pretty reasonable although i have heard that they can be found as cheap as 50pp if you can find one that low.

well, just base you are talking about 1,554 plat to get to 222
and thats IF you gain on EVERY attempt, which im pretty sure you wouldnt.
i believe that attempting something so far above your current skill level would be like trying to read Nordic Runes the first time seeing them.
it just really wouldnt work.
