LoL this is rather funny to read for me since my guild on Brell has run about 4 raids on Aerin`Dar and he's dropped this sword FIVE times, i won it last night, hits real well, unfortunately i now have about 6-7 weapons in my bag i no longer need thus ill have to spend about 9 weeks trying to sell the fuggin things

Nice sword.
# Mar 29 2004 at 8:18 AM Rating: Decent
I have this on Karana and I prefer this over Twice forged Steel Bulwark and Blackblade of rain. Saturday Night I tanked towers for my guild because our MT was out of town. This was my third try-first I used my sword and shield and with Ferocity I would hit 8k hp, not bad for a pally, but I always died early on, well I used this and I must say I prefer this over 1hs/shield... The Riposte damage had to of killed me... Whenever I tank now I will take off haste and try to get as few ripostes as possible :) Very rare sword is the downside 9 raids only seen the one I wear... only know 1 other person on my server with it - Nohmad

Pally/SK just function better over all with a nice 2hander. No one can refute the fact that BBoR/TFSB has better over all tank stats, 200hp 50AC and much more STA/DEX/STR.

But, like I said before, a paladin just performs better with a 2hander. Especially after getting 2hander AAs, a Paladin will almost always perfer the 2hander. Better agro usually, more damage, and a more comfortable feel =)

Yeah I'm here to tell, got this puppy last night on Luclin server, went from Aerin Dar to Rydda Dar and was using this puppy, anyway, MT was on Rydaa, i was swinging, proc went off and was resisted... Poof Rydaa dar on me hitting for 1700 to 2200 ... dead pally, so if it gets resisted u get a phat piece of hate stacked on your normal stuff, so be carefull in raids with this puppy.

During higher end Furious Bash VII will be your aggro god. Knight damage is just not close enough to everybody elses to warrant worrying about it. Even on my 33 SK I worry more about holding aggro on three mobs than doing the most damage to them because that's what the other classes are for. Same goes for wars.

The stun and DD will add the same amount of damage if this is resisted as they would if it landed. And, if the hate reducer is anything similar to a wizards 'concussion' line, then the hate reducer also works on a resist.

Ethereal Strike Agro
# Apr 05 2003 at 7:13 PM Rating: Default
The aggro reduction on this weapon won't cause a mob to turn away from a tank. As a matter of fact, a proc from this weapon can still cause a mob to turn towards you.

What it DOES do is REDUCE the chance that you'll gain agro from a proc. So if you're tanking, no worries, swing away... and of course spam your stun. If you're not tanking... no worries, swing away, and this weapon makes it less likely that an unlucky proc will steal agro and get you killed.

Here's the deal on this proc:

When the proc triggers and it *IS NOT* resisted, the mob is stunned, takes damage, and you gain no additional agro.

Unfortunately, if the proc triggers and it *IS* resisted, the mob is not stunned, it does not take damage, and you gain a nice fat chunk of agro. During raids, if you are not the MT (and pallies usually are not the MT in raids), then this is really bad.

So feel free to whip this out during those exp grinding session, but be very careful when your guild calls a raid.

A stun effect will elevate you roughly 125 points on the hate list pertaining to the target. A 75 DD effect will add another 75 hate points. The proc in question lowers hate by 200. Net result: 125 + 75 - 200 = 0 hate.

In other words, the proc will deal a little extra damage, possibly interrupting casting due to the stun, yet it won't really affect aggro.

RE: proc
# Jan 24 2003 at 11:17 AM Rating: Default
Yeah, like a paladin doesn't have enough tools to grab aggro.

Only a moron paladin would sit back, not heal, stun or root while the cleric or enchanter was getting the beats.

The aggro lowering proc actually makes this weapon useable in any situation.
RE: proc
# Dec 27 2002 at 10:02 AM Rating: Default
for the record, the lowering of 200 hate is not dmg. you should change your mock script:

you slash a creature <###> points of dmg
<such and such> has been struck by an ethereal blast for 75 points of dmg.
<such and such> ignores your attack and continues wailing on <home dude>
you slash...... etc etc

the -200 hate will not bring the mobs life down but will make it continue attacking someone else. thus, on a raid where your killing a big mob you should be the last tank alive. as a pali you are able to use your AE heal on your group or heal the cleric and not take any aggro from it. or you can LoH the MT if a healer in the chain happens to die for any reason so they can pick up and continue without that person. there are many situations this would be useful. its the opposite of the sword SKs get from hedge quest in PoN. though our sword doesnt proc 75DD stun :P

Nobody that is the Main Tank would use this. This is a SITUATIONAL weapon to use when you are NOT the Main Tank and must NOT have aggro.

In Raids you really don't want to take aggro off the MT, never.
RE: proc
# Feb 28 2003 at 10:51 AM Rating: Default
I agree with Guru Takanit on this one. It's not a weapon of choice for the Tank of the group.

Spells cause more aggro. During a raid I was on with a Paladin weilding this weapon any spell casters grabbed the mobs attention with their first casting of any nuke spell! This is not something that many casters will stay in the group and deal with. It almost certainly means their death.

This weapon is great for the Paladin of any group that is acting as another high melee damage dealer though. Especially with high Dex. I was able to Proc 3 times per mob with a Dex rating of 202.
RE: proc
# Jan 09 2003 at 1:24 AM Rating: Default
The interrupt will cause insta aggro, the -200 aggro will balance it out, so pretty much its a 75 dd with spell casting interrupt on it. Besides, if a paladin can't get aggro off because of the dumb proc then that pally... does not know how to play, it takes 1 taunt, 1 stun and I got everything and anything on my back.
Proc
# Dec 01 2002 at 4:32 AM Rating: Default
Not only is it a good sword, but the proc does a tiny bit of damage a stun and LOWERS aggro if you look.

It's about time that paladins got a weapon that will help in keeping the aggro on the warrior.

Have to say would love to have one of these as a ranger for the look. Almost makes me think Verant hired Gil Hibben for some of their blade designs. Would start a Pally if I ever thought I had a shot at this weapon.

# Nov 14 2002 at 1:16 PM Rating: Decent
Does this actually drop off of the Glass Dragon? I went to the beastiary and it's not listed on his loot table. Eternal Wrath stated that they got this sword while fighting in the Halls of Honor of the cats, but I could've read that wrong. Anyone have definitive information on WHAT drops this exactly?

This is dropped by AD in PoV (yes, the glass dragon). A pickup raid just took him down and I got the lucky roll.

This is one of those weapons that no one congratulates you on when you win it because they wanted it so bad themselves. The weapon has 40AC and 85HP (among other stats)as of this writing, which is very nice indeed. As awesome as this sword is, we are still paladins, and we still can't hit the side of a barn.

I was sooo shocked that Ardnahoy got this weapon, I was really happy for him that he got it (we're on the same guild). Then one day there was an AD raid by TMO and I asked if I could join. I was told to come and so I did. We smashed that glass dragon and this sword drops. A few paladins rolled on the sword since non of the TMO members needed it. I got lucky with a roll and got the sword. For those of you that think you can't tank with this weapon you are very wrong because I tanked for hours using it. Good luck on getting one, it is a real nice weapon in looks and stats.

Actually Nos, this one looks like an upgrade to Nature's Defender. Check the proc - at least after you stun the critter you get lowered on their hate list rather than grab their full and undivided attention! :)
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 03 2002 at 4:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Did it ever occur to you that perhaps getting agro in some situations is a GOOD thing? seriously, paladins are masters at keeping agro, but if this sucker procs 3 or 4 times in a single fight how da heck do you plan to keep agro off your friendly neighborhood rogue or ench? Granted, its still a pimp weapon, but in my opinion the decreased agro isnt necessary a blessing.
RE: Bah
# Nov 19 2002 at 8:59 AM Rating: Good
it says lowered on the aggro list... but look at the hatebringer or anything else that procs taunting blow... they also say lowers... the terminology isnt right... this is an aggro increaser
RE: Bah
# Nov 03 2002 at 9:28 PM Rating: Default
Did it ever occur to you that you may want to do alot of Damage and get in a stun or 2 and NOT get aggroed? Tanks spend alot of time trying to find high aggro weapons, but it's just as difficult to find low taunt, high damage weapons. A weapon that will actually lower you on the hate list is a very useful tool. Even as a Warrior, I'm not always the main tank.

According to Lucy...
# Oct 31 2002 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
...the stun on this can interrupt casters up to lvl 65, as long as they're not immune to stun of course.

I would think that this would be comparabe to the Lance of Thunder in dmg output, even tho the Lance has a better ratio, this has a proc and superior stats...this sword would prolly turn out being a decent upgrade to the Lance of Thunder, all things considered.

My question would be how much harder is Aerin'Dar to kill than Telk?
