I do not understand why rogue should get it first. surly its bane effect would work for any class who can use provided it is against the mob it works on .

Because rogues can backstab, which none of the other classes can do. Rogues with this make TTs fight much faster.

Just thought i'd post my knowledge about this dagger. I dont know about it being "dropped" from Thelin, but last night when some of my guild completed the Maze event in PoN for receiving flags for PonB, this dagger was received from thelin after turning in a magic/lore/nodrop/norent item looted off of the final mob in the event.
Bane Dmg Confirmed

As of the 1/28 patch, bane is now officially labeled as Terris Thule.
Who and what it's for

Speaking as a level 65 rogue here... Obviously this item should go to rogues first because against the one mob where you would consider using it, it's better than just about any rogue piercer obtainable with similar effort. The maze event is pretty easy for getting a 16/19 rogue usable piercer, and is very doable by a solid team of level 60's even without really high end equipment.

That said, I see no reason why a warrior shouldn't have one of these if his guild wants to farm a few extras. Each run through the maze produces one of these daggers, so getting another one is simply a matter of investing another couple of hours. Farm them to your heart's content.

I don't want to spoil too much about the Terris Thule fight, but I think that anyone evaluating the worth of this dagger should know this: The Terris Thule fight isn't really about the fast kill. Victory is gained through the exercise of control during the fight, not simply through killing her as fast as possible. That fact makes Thelin's Dagger somewhat less useful than you might expect. It's still a good weapon, but it's not even remotely an encounter defining item like a Shissar bane weapon or a Seru bane weapon.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 22 2003 at 7:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Without trying to sound argumentative......what makes you think this is for Terris Thule? From what I see it says: Unknown Race. Also, I don't know about a warrior, but 16/19 is the best dmg/dly droppable weapon i've ever seen for a ranger. Is there a better one I haven't seen?

Ranger piercing caps at 240. Many rangers don't use piercing because just equipping a 1hp in primary will drop your attack 10-20 points, and they use their swifty in their off hand(which adds 30 raw attack and 10 from the str)

It is only a 7 bane vs Terris Thule, the unknown race doesnt mean every unknown race.... you get it from killing "a construct of nightmares" and its part of the story line in the whole maze event.

I agree it should go to a rogue first. If you're in a guild who can take out Terris Thule you really wont want this weapon for any other encounter since the stats aren't that great without the bane.

If you want your guild to succeed you want the person who would get the most out of this weapon, and a rogue with a 16 dmg BS'er and 19 delay would get more use out of this weapon than any other class.

This is supposedly for Terris-Thule Bane dmg only. At least they didn't make it like the Seru bane timesink.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 28 2002 at 11:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is an open invite to all as to why a warrior might not be alowed to loot this.

Nobody level 60+ is likely to qualify as CAWU (Can And Will Use) for this item, they'll undoubtedly have better. If anyone really DOES qualify, let the poor guy have it. I'd grill him a little first...chances are he's lying. It's pretty good, say 50+, but not 60+ caliber.

But hey whoever gets it is just gonna sell it or twink with it, so sure, the warrior should get a chance for it. So should as the cleric, the chanter, whoever AND their dog. Everyone contributes to success, and if nobody CAWU, everyone should get a shot at the booty. and I'd interpret CAWU pretty strictly for items like this.

Like 90% of the items out there, people who can get it probably don't need it. If Verant really dislikes twinking, (as some comments by Verant personnel would indicate,) they shouldn't set up encounters and drops that way. It's twink, or sell (which is the same thing, only it's someone else who will twink with it), or destroy your hard-earned prize.

Edit: ooops. forget all that. Recommended level 62. Bah.

ok I disagree severly. I know alot of higher lvls that would use this. only as a bane weapon though, bank it otherwise. I mean it would be 16/19 against what ever the race/species is that its bane against. can you imagine this in the hands of a rogue against that type of mob? <drools>

this is going to be a situational weapon used for Terris Thule, just like the bane weapons for Lord Inq. Seru and the Emp where you must have bane weapons to hit him with melee.
nice

very nice weapon...cant wait to see what the bane is
Holy Backstab Batman!

Wow!
Factoring in the bane damage... situationally, this would make an AWESOME rogue backstabber 16/19, even better than the Ragebringer epic. Even without the bane damage, it's still a fast lil poker.

what is Unknown?

Just means they'll be updating the Database. They'll be putting in the racial bane soon, I bet.

When it first came out, the Greenmist sword had Bane DMG: UNKNOWN, before Luclin came out. It was later changed to Bane DMG: Shissar
