summoning efficiency
# Nov 24 2002 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
I think this is a nice thing to have. If only for putting it on, durring med time, and summoning bandages to bind wounds, to save on mana re-coup, or summoning those bracelet's everyone likes. Also, and nothing like medding with a wizard in the group, everyone has no mana, and someone says oh, can you summon this item please? and you say, yes of course, you summon, then wizard tells you "I thought you were out of mana?" and you tell back, "I am," and let the wizard wonder. Also, you could drink up, and if tolerance is high, once your wisdom is back to base(faster increase with better alchohol tolerance) you can say "full mana" and everyone will look amazed and say hey! I am at 35!, then you can pass out the booze to be nice. It may imply you are a boozer, but I have never seen anyone turn down a drink when offered, except for a cleric priest I know, but I would rather have the priest stay sober at all times anyway. Smiley: tongue Besides, if those say it is dissapointing?, well I think it's a great character enhancement thing, for you roleplayers out there who do research and carry books, and have homework from tower of frozen shadow, and have high int, etc.

Just click on Effect description :

Summoning Efficiency II Description:
1: Lowers mana cost up to 25%
2: Restriction: Spells level 44 and lower
3: Restriction: Only applies to 'Summon Pet' spells

Guess using this when summoning other stuff won't work well.

Read again...it says "Summon Pet ALLOWED". Meaning all summon spells are effected by this locket, including your pet.

3: Limit: Effect(Summon Pet allowed)

This means that's the only spell thats allowed for the effect to work.

'Summon Pet Allowed' means that ONLY spells that summon pets get this focus effect. So no, this will not affect summoning spells besides pets.

Well, my Mage has sleeves with this focus effect and I don't remember them ever activating on any spell other than pet summoning.

Youre prolly thinking of Embroidered Black sleeves (name similar to that i think), I got them on my main, a 46 magician on bertoxx server. very nice too:D

Does this effect work with the wizzy familiar spells? Mana Preservation is nice, but anything to save extra mana is even better, and Flappy costs a fair chunk of mana to summon.

As nice and cute as Familiars are they simply are Not Pets.
Wow.

This reward has got to be the most depressing thing I've seen... I've been camping the inspired book for three days now... 20 minutes between spawns, shared spot with 2 rares. In three days I've seen one rare (the wrong one) and cried many times.

I want the hours of my life back.

Dont waste your time on this one.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 25 2002 at 6:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Agreed, and this is nowhere near as effective as the sarnak arcane fetish i currently swindled.

Can someone send in a new picture of this item? This one is awful!
RE: New Picture
# Oct 25 2002 at 6:28 PM Rating: Good
eesh ya the personal commentary is certainly not need inside the pic itself.

BTW these are great quests for the level 20-30's crowd to get their level 2 focus items, they do not suck in any respect. whoever sent in the pic was probably some 50+ melee'er

I can kind of understand the commentary though... I'd be pissed if I had camped that inspired spirit, which sometimes doesn't appear for eons... and it being a 40th level necro mob... I don't know how happily doable this is for 20s-30s types. It's not like the spirit is alone and easily found and fought.

Anyway, I'm glad I decided to go the spoiler route on these before I continued doing them. I finally got all 4 of the idols the Curator wanted, to learn that the item is well, I dunno. I should probably just give them to someone else to hand in. And my warrior has been working on the quest for the 4 weapons, but I just read that the reward there is apparently also a caster-friendly focus item... so... my gnome warrior says... WHA!

I like the idea behind these quests a lot though.

Just the same, (and I may well be biased) Summoning Efficiency II is not on par with the other focus items that have been coming out -- the fine antique ring, corset, and velvet rose do all come with universal effects, making them very useful for anyone who casts spells of any kind, whereas this limits who will gain any kind of real benefit from the focus effect.
RE: New Picture
# Nov 21 2002 at 2:22 PM Rating: Default
Well, yeah - but it has _10 sv Cold and Fire_. I can see these things being taken on Naggy/Vox raids, even if the focus effect isn't spectacular.

It would be nice if some of these quests had rewards that were beneficial to melee types - but ALL/ALL usually means caster or monk anyway.
