i had this ring rotting in my twinks bank forever. i sold it today for only 700pp... was that a dumb move? currently my int is way way maxed so id like to start putting in defensive equipment...

now i have a question since i am such a newb at melee stats... does agi actually affect the chances that you have to be missed in combat? if so, is it signifigant enough to trade 6 ac out for 9 agi?

also, should i sell my gebs and put on apothic boots with the +14 agi bonus then?

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 18 2001 at 10:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All you monks who think HP is everything, its not. At high lvls 80HP is nothing, and gets taken away in a second. Just like that. Having 6ac will save you a lot more than 80hp. In my opinion I would just get a pair of Velium Fire Wedding Rings. 12ac 130hp is better than 6ac 145hp 9agi. (Agi gives a little extra AC) in my opinion.(Although the Djarn ring looks cool in the INV)

"get a pair of Velium Fire Wedding Rings. 12ac 130hp is better than 6ac 145hp 9agi."

i'd rather have 6ac 145hp 9agi, and now since i dont want to sound like other newbs saying "this is better cause i said so" i'll give some reason to my preference:
im a necro....i dont exactly get uber amounts of ac per agi....but i get 2(or is it 3 or 4, /shrug i'll assume 2 for my argument) ac for each point of agi i for a necro in their 50s this and the velium fire would give minimum of 24ac 145hp and 9agi.

now we compare:
24ac vs 12ac
145hp vs 130hp
9agi vs 0agi

now tell me which you would rather have

keep in mind im a necro....melees(well any non int caster) get more ac for each point of agi than i do

remember all AGI determines ac same as sta determines hp, int/wis determines mana

moct because you seem so quick to flame allow me to quote mir
"Current HP: 9/2399....Miriamele . Alteration Druid" how many low lvls have 2399hp as a druid?

anon that was claimin akethadar is stupid.....well hes just plain a dumb ***.

now im sure anon and moct are going to come flame me with no proof as they had in their other posts....

though keep in mind i have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt(unless you truly are that stupid or stubbern(sp?)) that this+velium fire=better than 2 velium fire
mocts proof: "Ask any SMART person" good thing he didnt say to ask him eh?
anon's proof: "Ac reduces the damage you take and reduces the chance of them hitting you" as i've shown there is more ac anyways so hes wrong, but at least he tried to offer time dont be so quick to flame
Miri's proof: "Current HP: 9/2399" how is that not proof that hp gear saves you at higher lvls?

so for people actually trying to decide about this ring keep in mind what you want to believe, me/mir/ath and our proof, or anon/moct who's proof is ummm...wait what proof?

Raabe your argument is moot since this ring is lore. Regardless, this ring's value has gone through the roof since spell haste II was added /drool
# Aug 08 2001 at 2:52 PM Rating: Default
I don't figure how you get 24ac with that combo. Please explain it to me so I could understand better. If your saying 9agi gives you 9ac that isn't the fact. 9agi would give you about 3ac. So thats sacrificing 3ac just for 15hp. Not worth it to me. I'll keep my pair of VFW rings for now.
# Aug 08 2001 at 3:06 PM Rating: Decent
9agi would give an int caster 3ac at lvl 54? i have one of these on my bard and it made 2 or 3 ac dif for him when i first gave it to him at lvl 4(grrr or was it 5, im a bit forgetful)....i believe i get about 2ac per agi that i have, so 9*2=18+6 if you used this + a VFW=24

now how much dif would this make on a pure melee class in their 50s i ask?

but anyways hypothetically say im wrong, i want actual proof that at high lvls 9agi gives less than 6 ac before you go off saying the 6 ac is better

Ok. Even though I am lvl 44 I am still learning. Maybe I will get this ring when I hit 50? Oh well. I don't need to worry about it now. Thanks for the help Raabe.

Ack... that sig is very old... Blah... I don't even play the rogue anymore... although when he had 450 HP at level 13, it was quite fun to kick the crap out of casters and warriors alike... couldn't root me ya bastards... haha
# Aug 29 2001 at 6:41 AM Rating: Default
You are wrong Raabbe. Sorry to tell you, but you don't get 2ac per agi... it is the other way around if that... 2 agi per 1 ac, or even more realistic is 3 agi per 1 ac. It is still a badass ring, and I made the dumbass mistake of trading one away, but it would only give something like 3AC total... even at higher levels.
# Jul 21 2001 at 2:18 PM Rating: Good
I take it you haven't survived a raid because you were wearing a necklace that had +10 hp....

Current HP: 9/2399

HP IS everything. You can have the best AC in the world, but if you only have 5 hp, one shot will kill you.
# Aug 05 2001 at 5:46 AM Rating: Default
All but true Miriamele, HP is very important.
One factor that is good also is that AGI makes you harder to hit.

Djarns Ring makes you evade the hits rather then taking less dmg....if you are a puller, wouldnt that be nice, no stuns cause you dont get hit... :)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 25 2001 at 8:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Umm your stupid Miriamele. First of all nobody has 9hp. Not even a lvl 1. The more AC you have the more HP it saves you and the less your attacker can hit you. At higher lvls having a 65hp necklace will do you ****. Have ac will save you a lot more than 65hp. Ask any SMART person.
# Aug 01 2001 at 1:18 PM Rating: Default

Let's talk smart here. First of all, they didn't mean nine hit points total you sad sack of monk wannabe, they meant for instance that you are reduced to 9/2338 hp. Holy crap, that 65 hp ring saved you.

Now, if you actually did what monks are good at doing (all monks except you keep in mind), and you pulled mobs, you would realize that ac doesn't mean JACK when your back is to the mob and you have it incoming to your awaiting party/guild. You're getting pounded, and every hp counts. Maybe you're one of those people that doesn't mind dying 85 times on a raid of hate because you only have 1200 hp, but HOLY CRAP, you have an ac of 1100!!! Now sit comfortably at your bind point, admiring your ac while you waste your clerics mana on rez, and your guilds time while there fool puller is out of commission, and the newbies see that you con red and beg you for your plat and your gold and your pants.

Haven't you always wanted a monkey?

Your wrong Akethadar. First of all having all that more ac instead of a measly 9agi is much better. Ac reduces the damage you take and reduces the chance of them hitting you. HOLY CRAP you are the dumbest monk I've seen since those lvl 4 monks. Lets just say someone did die on a raid, most likely the whole raid wouldnt be delayed just because of 1 fricken death. Monks arent always the best pullers on bigger raids like that anyways. HOLY CRAP get a life before you talk.
# Aug 10 2001 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
Actually. Monks DO make the best pullers in most high end raids. Insta-feign is far superior to castable feign (If you were suggesting that SKs pull), and the ability to instantly stop a train to your group by feigning (rather than... DYING) is a complete benefit to puller. And no, AC really doesn't mean jack squat when your BACK is to the monster. Neither does the "dodge, riposte, block" skills, since you can't dodge, riposte, or block an enemy behind you. So actually the only thing that is going to matter here is hp. By the way, "First of all having all that more ac instead of a measly 9ag" is a terribly uninformed comment. We are discussing (with agility bonus to ac) about a 3ac difference max. Yeah. w00t. 3ac. While my back is turned to quadding mobs.

As a monk, I agree with akedar, that ac is not as important to a monk, iksar monks in particular, because of natural ac. at lvl 54, i get 4ac from this ring, so i lose 2ac, gain 15hp and 9agi. 9agi might not seem like much to some of you dumb newbs posting, but when all your pieces with agi add up, you get hit a lot less. AC means **** to me, i've had this argument time and again, usually with people with a warrior or something who don't have a monk, and think all melees are the same. For my soloing gear, i go for the most stats and hp, and usually, if you have an item with uber stats, a decent ac comes with it, and i don't have to worry about getting the HIGHEST ac item for that slot. For raids mix and match regular hp/stat gear along with whatever resist gear i have. When you are on a high lvl raid pretty much no matter what your ac is you will get beat on, i last longer with hp/stat/resist. So once again, all you dumb warriors who think you know how to play a monk, or all you dumb monks who don't know how to play your own character, this ring is definately better then 6ac 65hp for a monk, and probably any class. Another thing, instead of ac, stats like dex can be better also. Monks do not tank, so why ac, while the warrior in your group is getting beat on, would you rather have an ac to brag about, or would you rather have high str to hit harder, or higher dex to land more of those hits. Some of these posts enrage me, so i'll stop before i pop a vein.

Although it's far easier to get a velium fire opal ring, this is a nice ring for a ranger to get since (a) it's free if it drops for you and (b) 80 HP is still 15 more HP than 65. +9 AGI translates into roughly 3 or 4 AC so you only lose a couple AC for 15 HP.

Rangers have to go kill imp protectors for the burnt sash for their Call of Flames quest anyway; they may as well stick around and hope for a Djarn's ring while they're there.

i camped boot 23 hours and not get it =(
#Anonymous, Posted: May 15 2001 at 7:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Heh this ring sorta sucks for melees. I'd say it would be best as either a Shammy or Necro item for those who have their WIS/INT respectively capped at 200, to have more HP for mana conversion, dunno.
RE: class?
# Jun 01 2001 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
This ring has monk written all over it agi is one of the best stats for a monk and hp are one thing we need most ... a lot of people say that monks need the ac hp rings but i disagree in many high level groups monks are just dmg dealers and since the warriors and pally's are tauntin the whole time monks rarely get hit whenever i play my monk and i start gettin beat up i fd so the dmg stays on the warrs >) let them worry about ac you worry about movin fast and hittin hard )
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2001 at 3:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Let me guess...your a twinked out troll monk paladin combo that crossed over from another game. Agility +9 with +80 HP...yeah those really suck...Hmmm....yup...can't find a better ring for any class...since it sucks so bad get me one and duel me....I'll have my second HP ring for a total of: 155 hp +9 agil -10 magic(that is at 75 currently)before buffs and just to make it fun lets do it in Neriak PvP arena. Yeah Sux hehhehehe to be you.

what are you smoking? this ring is awsome. the best hp bonus and a AC incresing stat that also incerases the chance to dodge/parry/ripose. ????
Rangers worth their salt would rather have AC (nt)
