WHOOOOHOOOOO!!!! got it posted my points on the quest thread but it actually can be done. The post about standing beside the NPC is correct the post about standing directly on the NPC is not valid anylonger.

There are no mobs in entire zone that can see invis! read up on zone at EQ Atlas.

I am soo Going back there with my lowbi toons. no corpse issues there lol.

It helps to have some sort of Spirit sight so you can see U self while invis this will help you make sure your in THE SWEET SPOT!

WHOOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOO!

Quest of the KeW LoOt
# Jan 18 2005 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
I have read up on all the posts I could find on this quest. The way's there and all the maps of the possible ways and zones as well as how to locate the secret room to do the turn in and as I am not ablr to gate I studyied the way out also. All the little tricks used to avoid aggro from nearby mobs. I almost started this quest lastnight but wanted to read up to reasure myself I wouldnt loose my toon in this place.

I have a Mantle of Stealth with the 2 charges but cannot remember how long invis will last for each charge so befor making the run tonight I will purchase 5 Cloudy Potions (5 due to Post I read stating toon get's a toxic message after 5th drink in a short period of time) Hopefuly this will be enough invis. I also read on the EQ Atlas write up on the zone it says clearly that there are no mobs in the zone at all thet can see invis.

I am debating on weather or not to go striped or not I wet to the entrance yesterday and found the Overthere Fairly safe to cross but at lvl 35 Fairly Safe just means that with SoW and no invis I avioded everything. as at 35 Dark blues and yellow to me sometimes are under coned.

I will post tomorrow on the result of my quest for the Kewl LoOt.

LOL OK I entered the little room with the npe from behind the NPC and gotright up on him facing the same way as npc when I clicked the npc with the book to open the give window, well lets just say I was dead befor the window poped the mob ran throuch my 35 bst like wet tissue paper lol I had well over 1000 hpts also so that is a bad *** mob.

when we went back my partner tried to /drag corpse and that brought the mobs down on us I was not ready for this and i think I lost invis as she did when she tried the /drag corpse as we were grouped.

the third time we went in with a little fire power ans me and the two heavys were in the little room my corpse was just a little in front and to the right of the NPC I think that was the trick as I was basically facing the same way stading directly next to him i was lootong my corpse everything was fine when guess who atempted to loot their corpse outside in the room where the mob was standing.

The mob went for the 1st toon in the room the Dark Elf Shadow Knight who did not go down quickly but did go down none the less I was so close to being done I did not see this and was next on the target the Frog Shaman did not loos invis so was not harmed.

Now a very important note: there is a mob that spawns closer to the safe room entrance but is still out side I belive this mob to be the Murder of so may toons. he is a wanderer and he heads straight through the so called safe room this UNSAFEROOM is a regular path for two wandering mobs that I was able to take time to watch. I did read up on the zone on EQ Atlas and there it stated that NONE of the mobs in this zone can see invis so far that has been true.

I am going to do this again and belive I will get it done.
I wil strip toon down and bank stuff I have 5 viles of clody potion that seem to last for 20 min and I have a Mantel of stealth will leave the mantle in the bank with a couple potiond just in case and go with a little food and dring 3 potions and the book i do bel;ive that if i stand in same spot as i was when looting I will have enough time to make trade and re invis.
i will take time to monitor the halls a bit befor attempting.

thanks to the Players that resed for me last night I owe you big and will be yer HammerHand when ever you call.
Good Luck...

The trick doesn't work. I made it all the way to him with my 16 Druid, stood directly on him, and the minute I tried to hand him the book I got smoked. I won't be going back.
No aggro

I've done this run several times with various toons. The trick to not aggroing the goblins seems to be by standing right on top of the NPC to give him the book.
..
# Aug 05 2004 at 11:46 PM Rating: Decent
i've done this thing about 10 times, piece of cake. it helps if you have gate but you dont need it, just have to buy a bunch of invis potions. use one and then run in, and get to the mob you do the turnin with. get to the SIDE of him, so your basically smack inbetween both of the fake invisible walls, and hand in. everytime nothing has aggro'd me. then just gate out and celebrate. or if you're a non gater, you have to re-invis and then run along the mine track tracks that go uphill to get out. the best thing is to do it before lvl 10 so you can just die and then you wont have to do a CR. email me at derrick@aintnothin.com if you need help or have a ?

I have a lvl 11 Ranger and just found this quest, the mask would be a good upgrade to the empty spot i have there now, but after reading the post most people who've doen this quest are casters who can gate out, or are under lvl 10 so they can just die. does anyone know if its possible to just run back out the same way you get there? is there some sort of drop you make that you can't get back up? any help is appreciated.

I lost invis twice in the dungeon but had enough warning to run to a less crowded area and recast. This is a scary place, but I am going to get my new Cleric back here soon.

As soon as you get invis or camo you can do this quest. My lvl 5 druid and lvl 4 enchanters say so. Try to do it when your 9th lvl or lower that way theres no loot/exp penalty if you get lost or the invis drops early. I just did this quest twice about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I also did it today with my lvl 21 cleric. Just bought a few cloudy potions, left all my gear in the bank and ran there. 2 dorks were parked close to the guy so I positioned myself as far as I could on the other side of the safe area. Dropped invis and they didnt aggro on me.

Pay 1-5pp for sarnak blood in bazaar. If no ones selling the blood check out merchants in PoK, the evil ones in The Overthere or the one in the windmill in LOIO. Thats all there is to it.

I did this quest last night and let me tell you, I had the most awful and excellent time of my short everquest life. I was playing my main, a level 30 Druid, and not really knowing anything about Droga..superior camoed and waltzed right in. I dropped invis right before handing in the book and...was dead in milleseconds. All my friends were offline and i was stranded in a 59+ dungeon with out a clue. I thought i was done for, already picking out names for my new main character and all, lol. In my time of need, however, I met new ppl who were more than willing to help and refused payment! After 8 hours of putzing around and dying several times, lol, going LD...and a Stromm Server crash ( WTF?)..the fine qualities of people around me shone brightly on my new diamond mask. Everyone saw it as a running gag the God's must have played on me and we chalked it up to bad luck. Moral of the story? Have faith in the people around you! (special thanx to Audray, Demonizer, and Aulantarie on Stromm)

Bardic question
# Apr 22 2003 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
I've just started my first bard and was wondering if this allowed us to reduce the play time of songs. I've noticed that my songs have many of the same issues with bashes, casting while sitting, ect... and was just wondering if this would be worth trying to get.

Thank you for the feedback.
RE: Bardic question
# Jun 23 2003 at 12:46 PM Rating: Decent
No, focus effect items don't affect bards...except for Flowing Thought. Bards use instruments as focus items essentially. Since we can move while casting that gives us a huge advantage over the rest of the casting community, so I guess they felt that made them balanced.

Possible increase in difficulty of this quest
# Feb 21 2003 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
Yesterday, I completed this quest. After three deaths (the first was my fault for getting lost, the third when Invis dropped on a CR) and coming within 3 blue bubs of un-dinging 29, I managed to get a pair of 90% rezes and some shred of my dignity.

On Lanys T'vyl, as of 2/20/03, there is a Goblin Legate parked in the Droga "Safe Room," who is so close to the NPC that he appears to be giving him a manly hug around the neck. Thus, as you go to make the transfer of the book and Invis drops, gobbie boy drops a couple of 200+ nukes. I tried to land a Tishan's Clash for the 5 second stun (Gate only takes me 4.3, as I have a Woven Grass Bracelet with Spell Haste I), and accidentally cast a Garrison's instead. I got the book, but then I hit the ground oh so very dead.

I don't know if the Legate is there because he was kited there by a player, or whether Verant realized the level of lowbie utilization of the quest and decided to step up the difficulty. Either way, word to the wise - scout the room before doing a "mask party" and bringing a bunch of lowbies down, or you could be facing a "CR party." I think I might be able to do the quest with my halfling druid easier, as he has Sneak, and might be able to make the trade just out of the gobbie's right-hand field of vision (the NPC faces the wall opposite where you'll be coming in, and the goblin was to his immediate left, facing directly at him).

No, I think the Gobbie is spawns there because I was doing the "Mask Party" for at least 10 seconds when the thing appears. Gate takes me the full 5 seconds....Do the math, LOL, could have been outta there easily. Went back got my stuff and gated NP because he wasn't there. My guess is that he spawns after you've been there for a few seconds. Either that or my butt was sticking out of the secret entrance....LOL.

Did the quest at 25 with two guildmates, one level 20 and a level 49 druid who went to watch our backs in Droga. Had absolutely zero problem, had a couple of good spots to stop and refresh invisibility, no goblins near the quest NPC, did the turn-in and TP'd back to PoK. I didn't notice any wanderers in Droga at all, you must've been the victim of someone else's bad pull.
RE: Possible increase in difficulty of this quest
# Jun 10 2003 at 2:34 PM Rating: Decent
No there is definately a wanderer that occasionally goes down the passage towards the NPC because he caught me on my second attempt to get the mask (first time I got lost because I didn't research the temple enough). He killed me after I had got the mask but I went in for a third time, looted my corpse and gated out.

Two easy quests in POK

This was a very easy and cheap quest to complete. First did with my 51 Wizzy. Found a Sarnak Blood at a vendor in inner circle right in POK, lol. Then ran invis the whole way through Overthere, Frontier Mountains, to Temple of Droga, stick to right and through hidden passage. Gave guys the book, and then gated out. Total time start to finish about 30 minutes....not bad. So, as soon as my druid made level 5 (and got Camouflage spell) I took off for POK and ran through this, again, in <30 minutes and again with no problems... Just for good measure, got one for my 24 Enchanter and 20 Necro, too.

The other simple POK quest is Holly Longtail's Replacement Parts Quest. It yields a Fine Antique Ring. Link here: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16371
Four items can all be bought in POK vendors or in Bazaar. (did run to Shar Vahl for tiny rockhopper eye)
Undead Froglok Tongue (about 2 gp at vendors)
High Quality Cougarskin (25pp in Bazaar)
Cockatrice Beak (20 pp at vendor)
Tiny Rockhopper eye (Got a few in Shar Vahl while I was there)
Not a bad item for 45 plat!

Gate of stone?
# Jan 15 2003 at 6:05 AM Rating: Decent
Is the gate area to the second level the area with the stone entrance? Was running around trying to make sure..then a GM message pops up saying that all systems go down at 3:00 am. This was about 15 min away..so while fuming about that I somehow found myself in territory i hadn't planned on being in and seemed to run in alot of circles and couldnt find the gated area agin to lvl 2. Then "You feel yourself about appear"....Goblins friggin everywhere..Patch in 15 minutes...i'm screwed i think to myself...somehow just between the agro range of 2 uglies i pulled off a gate. All in all that was better than any scry movie i seen lately, but anyways...

My question being, the gated area to the second level..is it the entrance that is made of stone..very noticeable? Just wanna confirm b4 i do my next mad scramble through the temple of doom.
RE: Gate of stone?
# Jan 16 2003 at 1:33 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, you pass under the big stone gate. I just finished running it a number of times invis'd (doing it with a couple characters, and leading some guildies through the quest). The stone gate is like a halfway point. From there, just keep to the right and you should be fine.
Completed

Hi there. Level 34 druid finished this quest in 30 minutes. I have someone buy me sarnak blood from the OT vendors (go for 2 plat or less) and then headed off to Drog with the book. he wasnt that hard to find..you just have to keep to the right. and then youll come to what seems like a dead end. Thats where he lies. make sure not to gate out while the roamer is around. Anyway This item does have Spell Haste II. This quest was very easy. Effects most of the spells that you have. Good luck to everyone!

This item does not have Feeble Mind, I checked mine last night after seeing this. It still has Spell Haste II. I'm guessing this is probably because of the new spell system that Allakhazam is implementing and this item's effect just got screwed up.

EDIT - This information has been corrected on Allakhazam's listing above.

does anyone know if having spell haste ii on more than one item stacks at all? or is it the same?
RE: so many spell haste items
# Nov 11 2002 at 9:18 PM Rating: Good
Focus effects of the same type (spell haste II on more than one item) do not stack. you simply get the effect once.
Focus effects of different lvls do not stack (spell haste 1 and spell haste 2). I have read that the highest lvl effect works, but my experience has been that the lvl specific effect works (ie. a lvl 15 spell would use the item with spell haste 1, but a lvl 26 spell would use the spell haste 2 effect). AS far as I know the effect isn't different, just the range of spells affected varies.
Focus effects of different types will stack (spell haste and mana preservation and enhance affliction might all work on the same spell).

just my 2cp.

You're pretty much correct, but I thought I would extrude.

Spell Haste I and Spell Haste II have essentially the same effect, the only difference is the minimum casting time, and the level of spell it will affect. Spell Haste I affects only spells 20 and under, and only if they have a casting time greater than 1 second. Spell Haste II only affects spells level 44 and under and only if they have a casting time greater than 2 seconds. But otherwise, they both still reduce the spell's casting time by 15%.

If you have both, they won't reduce casting times by 15%, then another 15%. It will affect the spells if they fit in the catagories correctly. Like if your lvl 15 spell had a casting time of 1.5 and you only had Spell Haste II, it wouldn't work on it. I think this is because, in theory, new spells often take longer to cast as you get higher in level, so they restrict it to the higher level spells somewhat, but it would still affect the spell if it had a casting time greater than 2 seconds. What I'm getting at is not that it's only the higher-level effect works, it's that the spell needs to fit into the right catagory to work. So, say you had Spell Haste II already and a bunch of spells from level 20 and under that had casting times between 1 and 2 seconds, Spell Haste I would be actually worth adding, if you came across an item with it; not that it'll stack, but it'll overlap and affect the spells that aren't affected by Spell Haste II.

Now when it comes to specialized haste focus effects, the higher haste takes precidence. For example, Enhancement Haste cuts the cast time down by 30%, and the non-specialized Spell Haste reduces it by 15%. Your spells that fit in with the restrictions of both will only work with Enhancement Haste.

And as for Spell Haste, Mana Preservation, Extended Affliction, what have you, they affect different aspects of spell casting, so they will stack. Spell Haste reduces casting time, Mana Preservation reduces spell cost and Extended Affliction makes affliction-type spells (DoTs, snares, roots) last longer, so a spell will use each focus effect if the restrictions of each focus effect will fit with the spell you're casting.

I originally thought the same thing about Focus Effects; that the only difference was the range of spells they worked on (the I, II, III and IV) but I noticed that the minimum casting time is different for the different stages of focus effects.

Anyway, probably longer than this needed to be, but I'm tired and felt like rambling on, lol. Hope this helps someone :)

Excellent post Daebin. I have played only melee's so far, and I just started a Druid. I gave him Cougar Claw earrings and a Fine Antique Ring, and always wondered why the mana preservation I from the earrings was being used instead of the mana preservation II from the ring (he's just level 5). I almost sold the earrings because of that, would have been a shame.
RE: so many spell haste items
# Jan 21 2003 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
I think you missed something in Daebin's post.. In your case, either of your mana preservation items will work equally well at your level. Selling that earring would be fine since you have the Mana Pres. II ring to fall back on. They are both -10% to mana cost for all spells (except probably CHeal), but the MP2 item will work up to level 44 spells, where as the MP1 will only work on spells up to level 20. The only focus that actually changes its effect is the spell haste, which he explained. All the other focuses are consistant in their effects and only affect a different range of spell levels. Try taking off the earring and you will see the ring activate when you cast.

Note:
Focus I: spell levels 1-20
Focus II: spell levels 1-44
Focus III: spell levels 1-60
Focus IV: spell levels 1-65

While it's true that you could have fallen back on the one ring instead of the other, what my other post was really talking about how certain focus effect limitations aren't _exactly_ the same for each level of the effect. The level of spells a focus effect will work on aren't always the only restrictions. Here's a specific example, using this druid that posted above:

Say the Druid has Spell Haste I and II in effect (instead of Mana Preservation). Spell Haste I will only work on spells up to level 20, and Spell Haste II will work on spells up to level 44. However, there is another restriction that many people overlook. Each have different minimum casting time requirements.

Spell Haste II has a minimum casting time requirement of 2.0 seconds for it to work, and Spell Haste I has a minimum casting time requirement of 1.0 seconds. If the Druid has Spell Haste II only and tries to cast Burst of Flame, which has a casting time of 1.5 seconds (not meeting the requirement of Spell Haste II of 2.0 seconds minimum), the Spell Haste won't go off. That's why some in some cases, different levels of the same effect are useful.

However, Mana Preservation doesn't have any other restrictions other than level (that and CHeal is excluded), like there's no minimum mana cost that's different for each focus level, so you are right that the selling the earring wouldn't make a difference.
