I've been camping Ronn and doing this quest over and over to get this Band and the Ring of Pine. After 12 or more completions I finally got the band. No Ring yet though. I'm mostly getting Flasks of Water.

The band is a Wrist item. It has a lighting/lantern effect, lighting up the room and the local area. Pretty cool but not such great stats. Still, I'm going to wear it. I'm a level 46 Ranger.
What con do you need...

to do this quest? I started a shadowknight in Qeynos recently and got killed and when I zoned back in, the rare and elusive Ronn Castekin skelly was standing inside the entrance waiting to be killed. I didn't hesitate for a second knowing it was a rare spawn. Now I have a character who is basically unlikeable to Surefall residents with the object of a Surefall quest in his possession. I am sure that my faction will be no better than dubious (probably worse) if I got to Surefall right now. So what should I con to turn in Ronns note?

I don't understand why people rip items like this. If you're above, say, level 10 you can do better but for a little noob just starting out, getting an item like this feels really good. I can't begin to tell you how good it felt when my little warrior got a pair of alligator tooth earrings from the Qeynos sewers or when my ranger got a pair onyx earrings from Blackburrow. I actually used those items for a long time before I got into places where I was able to loot better gear off dead mobs. And this was way back before bazaar where buying something from another player usually meant grossly overpaying and waiting forever for someone to be selling that extra special item you heard about and saved up for but could never find anywhere.

People play games for different reasons. Some people make themselves miserable always trying to get the next uber thing. They try and see how fast they can get to level 65 and completely miss out on a lot of the little subtle great things this game has to offer.

I am the type of player that I like trying the quests and unfolding the story. The loot becomes secondary to the fun. Was I happy getting a hunting bow for turning in poacher heads or the Jaggedpine Cloak for the casks, yes. Are they items that I will use, of course not but it was the journey, noth the destination.

I remember when i first did this quest about three years ago, i was so proud, i also loved doing those quests the NPCs give out for lowbie items in South Qeynos and killing Cubert, it was fun and i love those items. And if i hear someone bad mouth them I'll *shakes fist* agrue with you or something i'm not sure yet.
Think about it

Seems I've heard that before... too often, in fact. I cannot understand how one thing becomes automatically worthless just because another, supposedly better, thing is discovered to exist.

The true worth of something is not always measured accurately by someone grown accustomed to better.

Well Said Warric!

It's funny how my 'stupid' little polished bone hoop earring (+10 mana) has saved my **** countless times...just that little bit extra helped...I guess that's why I still wear it...

I wouldn't call an item crap just because you happen to have something better....I know a few level 9 rangers that would love to get their hands on some mana-aiding items...
Just my 2 cp.

But oddly enough, Druids and Rangers DO need mana.

It aint that bad for a low level item, I'd prefer plus 5 WIS but hey, who cares, its a mana increase for free, and you can always sell it.
