Maximum hit...

Max hit is 126 (before modifiers such as Champion and Might are taken into account); the max melee crit from it is 222.

It's a great hammer for the soloing shaman due to the stun [which works up to L65 rather than the L55 of weapons with a generic "stun" proc). However... if you use it in groups (especially with Greater Rabid Bear) you'll get aggro if the tank's not paying attention!
Amazing

I still use it at 56 on my shaman blasting between 30 - 160 yes 160 da hit this weapon rocks if u got the buffs =)
Awesome weapon, so so graphic

I saw this for 1500pp, yes 1,500. I bought it not knowing what a nice weapon it was. Soon after equipping it on my 50 Dwarf Cleric I saw the big honkin chunk of wood graphic. It didn't look that bad so I rounded up my 43 Warrior and off we went to Burning woods. To make a long story endless... My Cleric was fighting right alongside my warrior against Wurms, skeletons, giants and those huge bee things. He was doing some good damage hitting 45-80 at 147 1hb skill. This thing procs alot! It is kinda funny when after taunting and using the provoke disc my Cleric still takes aggro. Anyway it rocks and my CLeric is now 51, my Warrior 45.

After buying this weapon for my beautiful high~elf cleric and equiping it I almost cried!!! IT IS BUTT FUGLY!!!! I didn't care about the stats or anything I just turned around and put it back on my trader to resell!!! YUK!!!

Its hard for me to understand that the Zrazthril Forged Mace is so cool looking and has terrible stats and this Pile Driver is sooooo very uncool looking with its really nice stats!!!

Yes, it is ugly. It basically looks like a log section (with no bark) on a stick. You can see the annular rings and everything. I don't normally wield this, but it's a decent melee weapon for smacking a snared mob that's trying to flee, for example.

Are you guys kidding? This hammer looks AWESOME! Maybe it has to do with me being a barbarian.. but...

Are there any cheaper/easier to get weapons to get with this graphic?!

I got this a while back on Tarew Marr, Sold it today for 36K...really good price, heh. Now i'm using an Ornate Sceptre which I paid 10K for, Thanks Reduvid. I also spent 20K on my level 65 nuke, Winter's Frost. This seemed to work out well for me seeing as how the effect on the sceptre increases my nuke dmg by 23%. and on top of that I had 6K left over. The stats on the sceptre are better for me too.

Just my 2cp on the duel wield/slot debate. Scimatar of Oak drops in Ssra. Druid only weapon... able to be equiped in PRIMARY and RANGE. Just wanted to toss out that RANGE is also a spot where a weapon with dmg/delay can go. But druids cannot ever duel wield for dmg.
Awesome

I bought one for 19k and I have not one regret. I was using Soulstripper for a while which has the 75pt lifetap but the melee damage on it just didn't cut it for soloing.

With all melee stats maxxed at (or above) 255, this weapon doesn't stop proccing. I tested it out on goranga followers in ME and it procced 21 times during the first fight. I repeated and it went off like crazy. Max melee hit is 140ish so far and add the 75pt proc damage and this is a very nice weapon.

There is a downfall to this weapon though. If you are fighting mobs that are immune to stun spells yu can hold agro an entire fight. I was in the factory in PoI where the clockwork golems were immune to the stun. I slowed/maloed/crippled, waited for the mob to be down to 60% before going in and I still stole agro and kept it every time the stun proc got resisted. The golems still took the 75pt proc but the stun resist can get you killed in there, especially if you are with the monk and rogue attacking from the back and you pull agro during an enrage.

i got this wep a few days ago on Bristlebane, the cost there was only 9k so i jumped on that. My 45 shaman can proc this thing and it procs like 4 to 5 times per average fight so all in all is a very nice wep and fun to have.

Bought this last night and it fell in love with it immediately. With HoS, Rage,(255 str, 170 dex), and 171 1hb skill(53 shaman), my max hit is 114 and average hit is 70ish. Using Turgur's and Regrowth, I can straight melee low dark blues.
Damage bonus
# Nov 09 2002 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
I have one of these and mine has no such damage bonus =(
Does the damage bonus only show once your a certain skill in 1HB? I'm lvl 56 so I don't think thats it
RE: Damage bonus
# Nov 16 2002 at 10:28 PM Rating: Decent
Damage bonus is based on skill (for melee class's only!)

Damage bonus is basicly your minimum damage when you hit.

*Non-melee classes don't get a damage bonus

*All lvl 60 melee classes have a Damage bonus of 11 on a 1h weapon

*Damage bonus on 2h Weapons is based upon the delay.

So when you see a guy running around auc that his 10/40 2hs is really good because it has a damage bonus of 30 making it a 40/40 he is lying. For him he would still be using a 10/40 but his min. hit would be 30.

I have just seen this confused WAY too much.
RE: Damage bonus
# Oct 17 2003 at 9:54 AM Rating: Decent
The way damage bonuses go is for a "Tank class" at level 28 and every 3 levels after they get an +1 to the weapon DMG (2 Hand weapons get extra innitial damage based on their weight delay), as far as minimum damage....not that I've noticed as a 56 Warrior wielding 2 Blood Points 10/21 damage bonus of 10 ATM.
My observation on how Melee damage is arrived at is based on weapon DMG rateing x2 + (Damage bonus for melee classes) + Exceptional STR (IE. 101, 111, 121 Ect.) Though you can still hit for a lower number then just the bonuses together; I believe this is due to a Mob's defenses and AC ect. then modified by your skill.
On a weapon such as this I would figure Max Damage would be around 80 at 100 skill and around 160 at 200 skill, but these figures are only a rough edjucated guess...All in All Looks to be a hella nice weapon, my shammy would be proud to wield one, and my druid would prolly take melee back up after 17 levels without a weapon =)

Damage bonus is actually based on LEVEL, not skill.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 18 2002 at 7:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) nop your wrongggg... my rogue has seen 2hb weapons in the bazaar with bonus damage of like 15.. and we dont even get the skill.. im also only lvl 31... 45+ delay weapons get a much larger damage bonus.. so i know its based on level so uhhhh thereeee
RE: Damage bonus
# Nov 10 2002 at 1:57 AM Rating: Good
Actually the damage bonus you see is due to the pic submitted was made by a melee class. Anytime a melee class views a weapon (even if it's not usable by them) they will see a damage bonus listed.

This looks like a huge mallet when equipped. I saw a druid with it in front of unrest, definitely not the generic 1hb graphic.

off hand for non duelwielders
# Oct 27 2002 at 7:28 PM Rating: Default
if you look at the caster classes they can equip 2 weapons at once and never get duel wield. I would say these items can be put in the secondary slot for stats only.

Nope, thats not true. NOBODY who does not have dual wield can equip a weapon in their offhand.

What you are probably confusing, is that there are some carried ITEMS, that have weapon graphics. I know necros have a scythe graphic item, but it has NO MELEE STATS (damage/delay)

There is also a parrying dagger, which LOOKS like a dagger, but only has AC, no damage/delay.

Any item with damage/delay statistics, can only be equipped in secondary AFTER dual wield skill is activated, and only on classes that CAN dual wield. I found this out with my warrior, at a very low level, when I was given a weapon that had a shield graphic (Shield of the slain unicorn). I was not able to equip it, until I got dual wield.

So this hammer can not be put in secondary for the stats.

The reason it says either melee, is that that is the default for all 1h weapons, and the developers didn't bother to flag it as primary only, since none of the classes listed have dual wield anyway.

Yes, and on wurmy, the developers had to go in and set the flag to primary only. Didn't say it could not be done, just that they didn't bother on this weapon, as it wasn't usable by dual wielders.

Also, note that Wurmslayr IS usable by dual wield classes, and would have been a very powerful offhand weapon, which was clearly something they did not want.

RE: new epics

I think it's safe to say the new Epics will be capable of ripping a hole in the fabric of space and time....thus ensuring we destroy the EQ universe in time for EQ2.
expansions
# Oct 23 2002 at 2:31 PM Rating: Default
hey look antoher example of y epics r slowly becoming just trophies. PoP will kill whatever u started on and make it more like gettin something better in just one fight...i thought the idea of an epic was to be the best, instead it turns into a situational piece....course this doesn't hurt clerics epic as nothing really can...but the shaman epic's give to this is a mana less dot, but in a zone like FG where i melee more then anything, this would do more damage. its a shame, i wonder if the velious quest armors r goin to become childish thx to this expansion.
RE: expansions
# Oct 24 2002 at 4:19 PM Rating: Default
I would say that THIS is the situational item for a shaman. Epic has more WIS, HP, MANA, and resists, so would be used 99% of the time. You'd break this out on the occasions where you wanna beat on something.

And concerning epics and velious armors being upgraded: It's such a shame to upgrade items from 2 or 3 expansions ago. I really wish Verant would just stop providing possible upgrades to items. Makes thing's SOOOOO difficult!
dual wield > shaman
# Oct 23 2002 at 10:38 AM Rating: Default
Um, why is it that whenever there is an expansion, people just forget what has always been around? MOST weapons say Primary/Secondary, even 2h'ers...it doesn't matter whether the class(es) in question can dual wield, its just how VI does it. Doesn't make sense, but its a fact of life.

I also noticed a similar SK/PAL only 1hs that is flagged as both primary/secondary that was added with this update also from PoP. SKs and Pallys cannot dual wield either. Either these are item text errors or perhaps they are wieldable in the offhand for the stats alone. Maybe someone is able to answer that question.

While a weapon may be able to go in either melee (in theory), if you do not have at least one point in Dual Wield, you cannot equip weapons in any slot other than Primary (Throwing and Ammo slots excluded).
Even a monk (or whomever) that attains the proper level to get Dual Wield cannot equip a weapon in their off-hand until they have made the trip back to their trainer and put at least ONE point in the skill.
As to why they continue to make Primary/Secondary weapons only usuable by classes that do not get Dual Wield is beyond me. How's this for getting your hopes up?
Primary: Rune Etched Icewurm Fang (nice fact proc'ing piercer)
Secondary: Spear of Fate (epic)
.....
in reality .... the spear ends up hovering on my cursor if I'm meleeing for any length of time ... my sheild either worn or in a bag depending on if I'm swapping out a 1 or 2 hander. Oh well.
