On the Karana server, and talking about getting the fish from Frostbite. I am always doing the Stein of Mogguk quest and that quest also requires the fish. I strongly recommend doing the tonic to get the fish from Frostbite. It is just a lot easier, and you don't have any worries.
Okies now to the topic of the quest for the Rodcet Nife. I have tried this, but Arggghh, I hate wasting my fish for this ring because it keeps saying my faction is not good enough. I refuse to do this quest again until my faction is high enough to do it, for heck hehe, I sell my Stein for about 200pp and hate to waste my time on this ring when my faction is not good enough. My suggestion will be to work on the faction before even attempting to do this quest otherwise plan on being frustrated.

The problem with using the regurgitonic is that once used, no more fish can be obtained without someone killing the dog. So, if you don't want the faction hit, and fail to get the Band, then you have to wait around until someone else kills him.
Given that Frostbite is supposed to visit Qeynos frequently enough to suppose he doesn't come from Halas (quest text), he ought to respawn more often with a fish in his stomach.

Running two characters at the same time, I was able to give the tonic to Frostbite one after the other and got the fish for both. You don't have to wait til Frostbite goes back to Qeynos or gets killed.

Now after my Monk has killed a considerable amount of fish I can't get out of the pool with him so I just camp underwater and now when I get on my Wizard the corpses aren't there. I am going to kill myself Adios world....By the way this quest sux ***!!!!!!!!!! I hate it and Santa hates you!!!!!

tried to kill a koalindl fish in temple of llife at with 41 war fish hit me for over 400hp, dint know if its a bug but died none the less .....sucked
Oh yeah, nobody mentioned it, but sometimes Rodcet Nife experiences the world as a fish...that's why they're sacred!
If you haven't heard you don't have to kill Frostbite in order to do this quest. Goto North Qeynos by the Temple of Life. In there you will find a pool of Kolandi Fish. Kill one of them and give the scales to Enik Ruklin. In return you get faction and the Band of Rodcet Nife. Make sure you attempt this with a level 1 character unless you want to kill your main char forever in that pool. I suggest a monk practice Hand to Hand combat 5 times and then kill the Kolandi Fish. You lose faction with the Temple people there but its an alternate not your main so in the end it doesn't even matter.

you know, I've been trying to do this STUPID QUEST FOR LIKE WEEKS AND IM TIRED OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol. well now that i no how to get factio neven easier than the stupid gnoll fangs it will be a snap!!!
If you identified this item it will say that it is something else. But it will not change, so I imagine that it is part of a bigger quest

First I took my lvl 20 wiz to Qeynos and had him camp next to the pool. I hailed Rodcet and he told me the quest so i figured he would give me the ring.
I made a mule (human monk) and tried to kill the fish. Ouch! Died.
So took the monk to the newbie area and leveled to 2. Practiced hand to hand then went and easily killed two fish. Be sure and drag the fish to the ramp cause the first time it was hard to see the corpse! )
Brought my little gnome wizard in to loot the corpse without a problem!!
BUT when I gave the fish to Rodcet he said I wasnt "trusted enough"
so it looks like i am off to kill bandits to raise a little faction!

Just give Lashun Novashire 2 gold pieces or 2 bone chips thats how easy it is to gain faction.
The easiest way to procur large amounts of bone chips is to trot off to Everfrost and hit up the vendors by the fire. I bought over a hundred in a matter of seconds. Then back to Novashine for the turn in. But even conning warmly was still getting the beads. Good luck.

Seeing as how the ring is lore, does any one know who to turn it in to and what the reward is?
Lore doesn't always mean it's for a quest, just that you can only have one. It's a pretty nice little ring for a simple quest.

The regurgitronic is the product of a separate quest which I belive begins in Ak'Anon. Try looking up that quest. As I recall it takes quite a bit of time and effort to get the regurgitronic...

Why use it? Just make a mule to kill the fish in the pond of life, then log in with your main and loot the corpse to get a fish. You do not loose faction and it is much easier than using the tonic
i always get a friend to help me...but if you do that dont heal/buff/help it. with a lvl 1 warrior that believes in rodcet nife, it took 3 kills to become KOS.

You can easily up your standing with the Temple of Life and many others by turning in Bandit Sashes. They are located in West Karana around 50,-7000 with farmers. If you are lvl 9-12 bring a group cause there will be quite a few here. Above 16 you should be able to clear the camp pretty easy. Kill everything there including the farmers(they are really just bandits too). I looted 20 sashes in about 1 hour then turned them into Chesgard Sydwen in South Qeynos. Made minimum exp(I was lvl 26 so it could be better for most), about 60pp, and went from dubious to amiable with Eric. All in all a pretty good hour spent. The newbie mule is definately the best way to go on obtaining the fish. Get a war who worships Rodcet and PL him up to at least 3. Then go whack the fish(both of them will attack you if you go to the right spot...which is a little outside of the swim range of the one on the right as close as you can get to the steps that lead into the pond) and log on and loot with your main who should be waiting outside the pool.
Keep the prayer beads that he gives you at first until you turn in the 2nd fish corpse cause he cant give you 2(the pbs are lore) and you will have this band. The whole process should take a little under 2 hours but well worth it for this ring since the Ring of Frost is identical and sells for up to 100pp, you will gain about 60pp from selling the rewards for the bandit sash. Not to mention most of the guards(not the corrupt bastards) will con warmly to you. ONE THING TO NOTE IS THAT NECS AND ENCHANTERS SHOULD NOT DO THIS AS YOU WILL HAVE A NEGATIVE STANDING WITH THE BLOODSABERS. NECS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO IT AND ENC HAVE TO GO TO QEYNOS AQUEDUCTS FOR THEIR EPIC WHERE THE HIGH HIGH LVL BLOODSABERS RESIDE AND WILL KOS.

I'm an enchanter so I need the fish alot. I use a mule, level 1. just turn in the guild note and practice 1HS 5 times, i can solo 2 koalindls with him. No need to power level him to 3.

Its a quest begining in the Ranger camp North of Quenos hills and ending in Aknon. Check Quests under 'Regurgitonic'. One thing to note, you must have dubious or better with Hallas, else the pup will attack you if you try to give him the tonic.

Be careful killing Frostbite too much...killed him 5 times now i am KOS in Halas and much of Everfrost. Use one of the less truthful ways to do quest or risk many deaths in the North.

Use a different method of getting the fish....Can you say "Regurgitonic" ?. Then you get what you need with out the faction hits for killing Frostbite.
