#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 16 2002 at 6:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Insidious Dreams is an up-to-26% damage mod, but only for Magic-based nukes (not mentioned by Alla's). The focus effect is thus useless for Shamans and Druids and Necromancers, who don't have a MR nuke line.

Druids do get a MR line, the anti-summoned line. As a matter of fact the last upgrade to that line is at 65, and it is the best nuke we get if fighting summoned mobs. Since the release of LDoN, I've been fighting summoned mobs a lot. As a result I got to this page because I was looking for magic-nuke damage increaser items that my druid could wear. Currently I have mana preservation in my foot slot (ornate) but if I could move that to a different slot, I would be quite happy to own these shoes.

Sorry, but Wizards use magic nukes just as much as cold. Fire gets used the most and magic runs neck and neck with cold, depending on the situation. Some Wizards may say magic is used MORE than cold, but for me its about the same. Wishful thinking to influence the awarding of the boots, perhaps? Since I got cold focus and fire, this would fit in nicely, thnx...

Actualy necromancers use magic based nukes alot. All of thier DD Life taps are magic based. With touch of Mujaki it would help them a bit to hit for over 1K on a 3 second cast life tap.
Necros before PoP always had to use life taps for DD's, now they can use life taps or Neurotoxin (posion based), so this still effects half of a necromancers DD's.

You're mostly correct. Most of a necro's lifetaps are magic based, with the exception of Gangrenous Touch of Zum'uul (disease based). This will also affect a necro's undead nukes.

As a Wizard you are off the mark.

Here is a Magic based Nuke better then our cold Line.

Name: Elnerick's Electrical Rending
Level: 60
Type: Magic Based Single Target Direct Damage
Casting Time: 7.5 seconds
Recast Time: Instant
Actual Effects: Target: Direct Damge (1890)

All our Stun Spells are Magic Based and would be effected. At 60 lvl I've loaded all 4 Stuns and kept a mob from swinging once during the entire fight.

Name: Markar's Discord
Level: 56
Mana: 300
Class: Evocation
Type: Single Target Stun
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 3.3 seconds
Recast Time: 24 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: Stun 8 Seconds
Target: Direct Damage (750)

Name: Tishan's Discord
Level: 51
Mana: 130
Class: Evocation
Type: Single Target Stun
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 2.25 seconds
Recast Time: 18 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: Decrease Hit Points by 260 (L51)
Target: Stun for 5 Seconds

Name: Markar's Clash
Level: 49
Mana: 200
Class: Evocation
Type: Single Target Stun
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 3.3 seconds
Recast Time: 24 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: 200 damage
Stun 8 seconds

Name: Tishan's Clash
Level: 20
Mana: 65
Class: Evocation
Type: Single Target Stun
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 2.5 seconds
Recast Time: 18 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: Direct Damage (30 - 50)
Target: Stun for 5 seconds

Post 60 lvl we will have the following baring any changes upon release of PoP:

Name: Lure of Thunder
Level: 61
Mana: 350
Class: Evocation
Type: Magic Based Single Target Direct Damage
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 4.5 seconds
Recast Time: Instant
Actual Effects: Target: Direct Damage (900)

Name: Draught of Thunder
Level: 63
Mana: 215
Class: Evocation
Type: Magic Based Single Target Direct Damage
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 3 seconds
Recast Time: Instant
Actual Effects: Target: Direct Damge (800)

Name: Agnarr's Thunder
Level: 65
Mana: 550
Class: Evocation
Type: Magic Based Single Target Direct Damage
Max Duration: Instant
Casting Time: 7 seconds
Recast Time: Instant
Actual Effects: Target: Direct Damage (2000)

By the way, our top Nukes Pre-Pop are Fire Based. Extremley difficult to get but it isn't Cold.

You must be a Chanty, ;)

*cough*

Ancient:Destruction of Ice is available if you're raiding where these boots drop. Garrison's Superior Sundering is also better than EER, and fire based. It's kinda silly how selective your post-60 list is, too.

The point is, while Insidious Dreams would have plenty of utility to wizards, it only affects a third of their (your) spells. There are other damage foci in Vex Thall without the MR restriction, that would boost ALL their damage. Enchanters would only benefit from a third of that effect's potential. So, awarding this loot to a wizard would neccessitate awarding two more, just for their focus effects and not other stats or effects, and taking those items from others that would benefit.

By the way, the "extremely hard to get" best nuke? It drops from Emperor, no? Who has to die to get you to where these shoes drop? Yeah...
nice
# Oct 15 2002 at 11:11 PM Rating: Good
this effects instant spells . specifically DD type non AE spells that are detrimental meaning HP damage. UP TO 26 percent( not a fixed rate) so they will average 14 percent more eficientcy. that kinda points these in the direction of a nuker (wiz mage) because it does not effect dots and is a damage ( nuker focus) but i agree any caster would probly love to have these they only effect DD spells up to lvl 63 btw
RE: nice

these where edited to work up to lvl 65 . the original before the effect was slightly altered was lvl 63
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 15 2002 at 9:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WHY CAN'T MONKS USE THIS
Wisdom
# Oct 15 2002 at 9:18 PM Rating: Decent
At the lvl you are able to use these the lack of wisdom wont matter and plus it has 75mana so I think these are sweet Smiley: smile well good hunting and safe journey to all
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 15 2002 at 8:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) nice of them not to put any wisdom on it
Not geared at a wisdom class
# Oct 16 2002 at 9:39 AM Rating: Good
Sometimes I am curious as to how wisdom is a requirement at this lvl...My 60 epic mage no drop = 218 int...and i have 5 items with no Int on it...last I counted I knew 4 Druids alone with 250+ wisdom counts just from no drop gears alone....In other words...If this effects your manapool that much then you shouldnt be looting this anyways as your total mana isnt great enough to receive a DD +% modifier...this item is for the largest of manapools in your guild(sect) and should be applied accordingly if you want max effectiveness from it..they included clr dru shm for the simple fact they have effective dd's too ...however i would much prefer this in the hands of a wizzie than any other class
