Orcs may not be able to sing, but they sure can rap,,, I mean, who could forget the classic : Rygorr orcs kill in the snow! We'll bash in your face, and cut off your toe! Or the instant hit : Crush, maim, kill, and defy! For dinner tonight, your brains we shall fry! ,,, I mean, laying down smooth rhymes like that? Scraight up, scrong,,,

Very nice

When you say "song alone" do you mean with no Stringed Instrument? If so, this is not a correct comparison. We already know that you get a substantial imporvement in your songs when you have the correct type of instrument equipped. You need to compare a "Basic" stringed instrument (like a Mandolin) to this item. The difference will be the % improvement on this item.

Your post is retarded, it is as if u came on here just looking for someone to bash, the comparison the person was making was simply about using regeneration songs alone vs using them with the orcish lute of singing as well as adding in the extra points from medding......it is what it is, what is the point of bashing it and bringing to the attention that it does not compare plain instruments, or combine instruements, or some fancy no drop instruments.........the post was about this lute, not all of them. So the post IS correct ....and u suck :-P

Adding more unwanted banter to pages meant for aquring info since 2001.

actually, he wasn't trying to bash someone... which you seemed to do so quickly...

it's common knowledge that the addition of the correct instrument to a song adds to the effect of the song... so a better comparison would be using this lute and comparing it to ANY other lute, whether it be the storebought 1pp lute, or the storebought Combine Mandolin, or even a rare dropped lute...

because that would help when deciding whether to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a rare lute, or picking this one up cheap.

I have been readingg the above threads, and from what I CAN TELL is that the modifier is 2.5%, or 33%, or 5%. Allakhazam, however, has set it at 0. The name "Orcish" Lute of Singing does suggest that it may actually detract from one's song, but who knows. I am fairly sure that it is not so incredible as to be 33%, and I have been testing it a little (as of 3.30.03) and I believe it is not 5% either. I would set it at around 2.5 being correct, this being after Luclin, PoP, and Ykesha. Easy kill nice loot- what's the problem? If you have a Lute of the Howler or something, just sellit in the bazaar =P. Enjoy, people.

Why would they make a drop from a lv 12 mob be one of the best droppable lutes? shouldn't they be able to figure that out BEFORE they put in in the game?
RE: ?
# May 05 2003 at 7:55 PM Rating: Decent
I hope you are not saying this is one of the best lutes in the game. But if you are this thing drops off a LV 40 mob not lv 12.

I'm sure if you heard an orc singing it would probably sound like rammstein on acid or something!?!

They may not speak common well, but I'm sure orcs can sing just fine in orcish.

Orcs are actually quite good at singing orcish songs. To most people, they sound like someone slowly butchering a hog, but orcs find them quite inspirational.

Nerfed/Modified
# Oct 23 2002 at 9:23 AM Rating: Good
The day the PoP expansion came out, I was regenning 18hp/tic with this lute while sitting, and playing Hymn of Restoration.

After this most recent patch, which took place the morning of 10/23/02, I was only regenning 15hp/tic while sitting, or the same as I regen with a standard Madonlin/Lute, so apparently they have nerfed, or "fixed" this lute, depending on you figure it was supposed to be before.

Maybe this modification wasn't inentional, who knows. This is also used in a new PoP quest, just curious what the quest reward is, as there is no info in the quest section as far as a reward goes.
RE: Nerfed/Modified
# Nov 15 2002 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
Aye this item has been changed for the reason that it was mostly intended as a quest item for PoK quest. The end result is a mid level item that if it were droppable would maybe sell for around 1kpp on TT server as other items that are similar sell for that much.

If you are a bard then this really isn't going to improve anything and I guess isn't meant to. Just sell it to a questor and get a better item.
Percentage to bard song
# Oct 22 2002 at 1:38 AM Rating: Decent
I got this today at the Rygor fort off of the orc minstrel. He conned light blue to me at 52. He was a very easy kill, I just triple dotted him, he went down in no time. As for how much of a percentage this intrument adds to your strings songs...While playing with just a normal lute, I would heal 20 hp a tick. With this equipped I would heal 24 hp a tick. How much of a percentage is that to this instrument? I would say approximitly 15%. Which is not bad for a very easy to get item. Hunt well all, bards, good luck getting this item.
Calculation
# Oct 18 2002 at 3:09 PM Rating: Default
Looking at the old EQSONG Song Analysis Spreadsheet calulations, where the formula for the regen Regen=(Level/6+2)*(Instrument Bonus Factor), it would appear that the bonus for this instument is 2.3 where the normal loot shows as 1.999 and the result is an integer.

According to Reeds Bardsong Spreadsheet v3.20 this lute has a 2.5 mod factor. Nice!
Orcish Lute of Singing
# Oct 18 2002 at 9:50 AM Rating: Default
The Orcish Lute of Singing is much better than the Combine Instruments.
At Level 53, standing with no lute, I regen a total of 11 pts per tick... should be 10 without regen.
With a normal lute standing, it jumps to 20 pts per tick so an additional 9 pts for a normal Lute.
With the combine lute it is 21 so only 1 better than a normal Lute.
With the new Orcish Lute of Singing, I regen 24 points standing so 4 better than a normal Lute.
I do not know the calculations that show the percent bonus. It is not as good as a Kelin's Seven Stringed Lute but is the next best instrument and drops off a mob at the Eastern Waste Ry'Gorr Fort that is light blue to me at 53 and hits as hard as an Elite. It is very sweet. Saw 3 of them drop in a 4 hour period on The Seventh Hammer Server on October 17th, 2002. Grab them while they are hot before they get nerfed.

Than something is amiss... Because when I first got this lute, I compared it with my combine and they were identical. They still are on Test.

This item drops off a new mob in Rygorr Fort in East Wastes, named RyGorr Minstrel. He always has it and he has it in his hand when he spawns.
I gave this to a high level bard friend of mine and he said it adds %33 to bardsong. Not kidding.

Im unfamiliar with bards, but he said that makes this a darn nice item, especially coming from such an easy place.

Newbie lute
# Oct 16 2002 at 5:15 AM Rating: Default
This is most likely a low-level lute, to accompany the low level armor quests for bards. Most Bards know that the Gypsy lute is nearly the only % bonus lute available until the higher-end game - and only 5% at that. But is easily attainable through sale, as it is a common drop. This may provide even better % bonus, however. Seeing as though MM has not been revamped for quite some time.

For those that have Luclin the Combine Lutes and Mandolins are easier to get. Even a Bard in the teens could travel to Katta Kastelum and buy one. Just run like crazy and don't make any pit stops along the way while in the Tenebrous Mts. The bard song boost is as nearly good as the Gypsy Lute or the Mistmoore Drums.

You can also safely travel Fungus Grove with Sonorus Clouding, BTW, if you need a short cut from Shadowhaven.
