This darned Foreman just will NOT re-spawn

Well, I killed the excavators last night, and got two characters to get the bridle from the foreman, and now he will NOT re-spawn for anything.SO, I've tried killing the skellies in the order posted below, and I tried logging on two totally different characters and returning to Befallen, and I even tried waiting over-night and returning with two new characters again the next morning -- and yet still no re-spawn. Does anyone have any idea if it is a one or two-day timer for re-spawn? I see a lot of other people have claimed on other posts that he doesn't show up when they spend significant time killing the excavators and wondering if anyone has resolved this dilema yet.......

Has this quest been nerfed, I cannot seem to get it to work at all. I have sat and killed the excavators for 3 days now and nothing. Would someone mind telling me what I am doing wrong.

That's because this quest is ancient. You couldn't buy horses back then and Journeyman Boots was a cherished object for those who were unable to cast SoW, so it was considered fast for it's time but the bazaar horses are a lot faster. This one is really only good for people who can't afford a horse yet but want to see what it's like.

Also remember, you can cast form horse back and while on a horse you are always sitting. Im old now but if memory serves you could have an effect on, like sow? maybe im crazy but I think it stacked. I would quad + Dot Kite on my druid this way. If I knew I was going to spend a wekend or a long evening grinding, Id grab this item. You pair this with KOI and its a dream. I was grinding this Aerocks? Averoks? Those weird multicolored parrot bird men.

trade- in?

Just wondering, has anybody tried turning the Ghost bridle in to the stable NPCs in the bazaar for an item exchange (like you can with purchased bridles)?? Just a thought.

*bonks Sissa on the head* So are the horse bridles you buy! You can hand those to the stablehands to receive a Bag of Platinum Pieces, which can be vendor-sold for about 2/3rds of the cost of the horse... so the question was reasonable! :P
problems... :P
# Oct 08 2004 at 1:23 AM Rating: Decent
Does this quest work even if you don't have Luclin? Because i got the bridle but when I tried to summon the horse it said I have to turn the horse models on... and they were on :( so is this for luclin- people only?
RE: problems... :P
# Nov 15 2004 at 2:46 AM Rating: Good
1) Make sure the models for both Horses and Elementals *and* your Race/Gender combination are on, and

2) Open the file in your EQ directory called eqclient.ini and look for a line that says:

If it is set to TRUE, then changing it to FALSE will fix your problem.

[EDIT: If that still doesn't work, then you will probably have to buy the Shadows of Luclin expansion to use it.]

Spent about 45 min in Befallen killing all skellies, then the foreman and Sir Ariam spawned...Got a horsie!! Yay!!..)
Can out before Luclin?
# May 22 2004 at 11:52 AM Rating: Default
Well i was a noob, was a ranger on the nameless server Ryyan, when luclin came out so i don't remember much. Where the new models made availible before luclin? Otherwise you couldn't use this horse untill luclin came out and you done bought it.... I was lvl 8 or so when the plague on the Karana's happened, was fun to fight the skellys in Qeynos hills. And if i remember right the low lvls droped cool armor and not just the high lvls, we need more of those for the low lvls.

linked to other quests?
# May 19 2004 at 9:35 AM Rating: Decent
I was just wondering if anyone read the letter to see if there's any clues to other quests this may be linked to. It's just that Sir Ariam made a reference to helping end the threat.
Also,on the matter of when the quest originated....I believe it was just before Luclin came out,so players could see what horses would be like. I think I remember players complaining that the bridle didn't work properly(until Verant tweaked the bugs out).
I could be wrong though, since I've never done this quest. And,I'm an old dwarf with an eccentric mind :-)
# Feb 24 2004 at 3:31 PM Rating: Default
My friend has been trying to do this and he has spent 2 hours trying to spawn the foreman. Considering how long it takes to do this quest its not worth it. This quest also has not been aroudn forever, it came out either with luclin or after. Its basically meant to give people a 1 charge summon horse so they can see if they want to pay 10k to buy one. For what little you get they should make the foreman alot more common of a spawn.

** update ** Done tongiht 2/16/04 - He did not respond to anything except [Knights of truth] and id assume [The dead] - I did nto get a parchment, just the bridal, figuring the quest one was hosed, I clicked to use. A lot of fun. you also dont take damage on a horse if you fall??? It was cool to move, cast and still see my mana full. Very cool, nearly sold me on getting a horse. Terrish-Thule server. Then I think I said Eternal rest, not internal?

Its very usefull in one sense. It appears its an older quest. The thing is before POP and even Luclin the longest run in the game is from the commons to Qeynos.

West Freeport, East Commons, West Commons, Kithikor woods (only durring the day), High Keep, East Karanas, North Karna, West Karana, Qeynos Hills, Qeynos.

(there is another way if you wanna go Runny eye and the Gorge, which you dont usually...)

Fun huh? Not only a ton of zones but arguably 2 or 3 of the still largest in the game. So there you are, able to get a horse. If you not TOO spoiled by POP make the run some day. Its an adventure. For real fun, do it wihout a sow. Or for that matter take boat ride one day everywhere you need to go.

Not to mention STILL to this day, other then POK book in Misty and or NEXUS at North Karna its still one heck of a run.

Besides it could be like one of those off the road theme parks, the cheesy joints you take a photo at, you get a chance to take some pictures of you on a horse, also cheeper then sow potions. I understand the quested tun in is NOT lore, so might be killer to have for a run. :)

OK, this horse is meditation, i think, and heres how u do it:
1. kill all of the first floor. Necros, skelles and rats.
2. Eat a sandwhich.
3. kill a skellie foreman(you'll see a message) he spawns by the 3 glowing skulls, kill him to spawn sir ancum or watever.
hail him and say all the junk: i sense a deep pain within you ghost, is there any way i may assist you to find internal rest? he says blah blah and you say, "I will perform any task that will cleanse this place" he says blah blah and you say "i will bring it to the knights or truth/other person." Hope this helps you

I have been killing the skelly excavators for 6 RL days. Not once has the stupid foreman spawned...what am i doing wrong? i kill the top 2 skellies, then the bottom to starting with the right, then the left is last.
# Nov 29 2003 at 6:47 PM Rating: Decent
Silly Frog, Druid, or Mage, You have to kill the excavators in this order only, down the steps, facing the rockpile, skelly 1 on the left nearest the locked door, skelly 2 is to the right of skelly 1, THEN go up stairs and kill the 2 skellies near the little rockpile deadend, nearest first then fatherest last. Go back down stairs and behind rockpile is a floating sword, wallaw!

Giiddy-up Horsey!

LOL... kill 'em all 4 at once, I did!

I don't know if the order that you kill them has anything to do with it, but I pulled all 4 of the excavators (sp?) at once and used earthquake to kill 'em all at once, then the foreman spawned and I killed him and it instantly spawned the floating sword...

Ultra easy way to get a horse... turns out I don't like horses (starting and stopping sux, and that head in the middle of your field of view... ugh)

Anyway, that's the news kids and I'm outta here.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 14 2003 at 6:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was all excited to go get this thing and do the quest when I saw the post on developer's corner and now I felt like I've been cheated out of about 2 hours of my life and I want them back. If you're going to do a quest there is no reason to do it if the item you get does not last forever, otherwise you're just wasting damn time you could kill giants in RM or farming plat in Crystal Caverns to buy a stupid horse.
RE: sigh
# Jun 15 2003 at 10:59 AM Rating: Default
There is no reason to do this quest.
If you talk with Sir Ariam Arcanum, he gives you the ghostly bridle. That will summon a horse. There is no need to waste your time doing the rest of the quest just to have the same item you are holding renamed to Bridle of Sir Arium. Go outside and right click your ghostly bridle, whamo a horse shows up. If you thought that you would have a free horse permanently from this, I am sorry you wasted your time. The day SOE would give anyone that wanted it a free horse, is the day my druid can start ressurecting people. But it is a nice way to experience a horse without having to purchase one, even if it is only a temporary thing.
RE: sigh
# Jun 18 2003 at 5:24 PM Rating: Good
Actually there IS a reason. The ghostly bridle you get from talking to him is NORENT. After the turn in the one you get is NOT NORENT. That should be reson enough. I usually do this before raids, so I can have a horse for raids that don't involve zoning. (Mid-level guild) So if you plan on using it immediately, don't bother. If you wanna save it for another time, you have to.

Berzerkers have already practically made warriors useless and I aggree Warriors and rogues need a serious overhall. Like how expensive rogue poisons are, Which should not be since only a rogue can use them. I also know that they want rangers to be the Bow people, but it would be really nice if A rogue could poison arrows, or can they poison thrown?? anyways, as an opener that would be nice.

Turn the No Rent ghostly bridle in at Freeport or Neriak & you get a 1 charge of Horsey - i.e. one click & it's gone.
But hey that's pretty good for outside raids, coz you can go back after the raid & spawn Sir Ariam to get another bridle ready for the next raid :D

It's a one shot wonder - once you click on the bridle it summons the horse then vanishes, so you can't resummon the horse. Start saving or re-do the quest for each instance of horse you want (remember its a LORE item too).

Just been doing some timings on the respawn of the excavating skeletons is exactly 19 minutes, rather a long time really.
And after wiping out all four about six or seven times now I'm still waiting for the Foreman...

2. quicker escape from outdoor fights
3. makes you look rich
4. makes you look cool

1. Hard to interrupt casting
2. Can't swim on horse
3. Newbies draw to you like flies on sugar expecting free stuff because you look rich
4. Horses go through your food faster than a pet with a HoT can regenerate

I have done this quest at least 3 times, there is no running around Freeport and questing. All you have to do is:
1. enter befallen
2. kill all excavating skellies
3. wait for them to respawn and kill them again
4. repeat until the foreman spawns
5. kill foreman and sir ariam spawns
6. tell him "I sense the burning dead"
7. he gives you the bridle

there ya go, have fun with your horsie! ive had n00bs ask about the quest and ill tell them...for a price>:->

Sir Artanis to had in the NOTE and the Bridle is not KOS to those of us who Killed Sir Lucan.
My Rogue has done several raids on Sir Lucan.
Sir Artanis can be located in North Freeport, Use the underground tunnels to go to North Freeport.

The Bridle can only be used once. My Guildleader thinks she has figured out the method of getting the Foreman to spawn on a regular basis in Befallen. I will try to have her add her notes on this message board :)
RE: Item Recharge
# Dec 05 2002 at 2:44 PM Rating: Excellent
The only items I'm aware of that can be recharged are some of the tinkered items, and then only a few of those, and they all use a mana battery to be made, and to be recharged. And to name names on those, Anizok's Gauze press and Min / Max devices, Gnomish Vanishing Device, and the Clockwork Watchman armors.

On the topic of the horse itself, I'd have to say if you're a caster and doing a planar raid, do this quest, it's well worth being able to meditate, even while casting (I've done some long cast spells and mana still regens at the same rate) And I say especially for Fear raids, since if you're on a break group, you can't sit down initially for the sake of avoiding extra aggros.
