I just had this drop off "Eom Zethon Xakra Kel", which is a named according to the hunter achievement. I can't say if it's unique to this named NPC, or maybe just rarely off any named NPC in the zone. But there you go.

Another VT clear and it dropped off "Eom Thall Xakra" this time. That isn't a named according to the hunter achievement, so maybe this is actually just a rare random zone wide drop.

heavier ring just bigger bruising

Sure these rings are heavy compared to most. It might be sacrilege but as a Monk i would still enjoy not only one but a matching pair to wear. Very nice AC ring for a Monk, nice melee stats. The addtional ATK is helpful. Sure the HPs could be more, but add that Omens auggy of 70 HPs that's nonLore then boost it right there. Also, these being nonLore rings themselves is nice & becomming more & more rare in EQ. Too bad as a casual player i can only dream of such, or keep playing another couple of years ... if EQ survives that much longer. Congrats to any that has one, but great congrats to any that are wearing double Rage rings!
hmmm

Me... crazy?
# Jun 15 2003 at 12:10 AM Rating: Default
Call me crazy, but I don't think SOE is exactly consistent with their weight measurements. Also, the 10lb Meat Pie thing COULD just be the name of the thing, not a partial description. Like a 10 gallon hat that holds less than one gallon, this could be less than 10 pounds. Who would want to say 'Halas 7.436lb Meat Pie' all the time? 10 pounds might be off, but it sounds nicer.

P.S.: To those of you who are scratching their heads on this one, I meant to reply to the 'heavy...' line of messages, but it slipped my mind for a moment that I actually have to click the reply button. My bad.

I guess by the time you're looting that you're strong enough to take a mere one and a half pounds.

They dont weigh items in pounds, they weigh items in stones. (I must be nuts to be talking about virtual items like this) As far as I know, 1 stone is 10 pounds so this ring would be 15 pounds.

edit: if i'm wrong and you know it please correct me

Acutally, 1 stone is the equivalent of 1 pound. Think about it, monks would be able to carry around 150 pounds b4 they hit a loss of agi. My ranger could carry like 1270 pounds with the buffs and items he has now. So logic would lead you to conclude that 1 stone is the equivalent of 1 pound.

Actually a stone is an old english form of measurement and equals 14 pounds. Why don't ask me but it is.

No, 1 stone is equal to about 1.3 pounds. Halas 10lb Meat Pies weigh 7.8 stone.

I'm with Tsukii on this one...it wouldn't make very much sense for any of our characters (especially a gnomish one) to carry somewhere around a half a ton of armor and weaponry, plus all your 10lb meat pies to a battlefield... You'd sink into the bloody mud of the warzone.

If you fish in Cabilis, you catch things like "13 pound bass" and "7 pound bass". The weight on them is consistently one-tenth of their stated weight, so the 13 pound bass weighs 1.3, and the 7 pounder weighs .7. Thus, it can be assumed that EQ weights are in tens of pounds. So, yes, a weakling wizard with a 55 Strength, can carry 550 pounds of loot and gear before he even begins to walk slowly. And, yes, a "stone" is a 14 pound weight. They still use it for weighing horses and jockeys in the real world.
