The Infamous "Named" Spawns
# May 22 2005 at 4:57 AM Rating: Decent
Not much to offer but I've lived in JP for about 20 lvls lol. Iv'e made a ton o pp selling

plant shoots and Griffon meat, watched the village get overrun by the Darkpaw orcs many

times, watched lvl 65+'s come in for their quest npc fight, in other words many many MANY

hours. In all that time (stretching from Oct-Nov 04, a three month break then half Mar-April

05) And NEVER saw any named, heard of any named, or was asked about any named. Then in ONE

night in late April 05, I hit track and saw: Fiercewind, Jarg Oakenfist, and the Golden

Talon ALL UP AT THE SAME TIME! Needless to say I dropped them all as this may have been a

once in an EQ experience lol. I got the Fiercewind, Oakenfist gloves, and Griffon Wing

Cloak. So it is possible but these must be super rare spawns. Alla has very little usefull

info on any of the items, (no pricing on any) most a year or two old (or older) So if anyone

knows anything please post. Ive /ooc'ed many times for info and a PC but got no answers of

any use. Just FYI all three were db to my 59 Rng. Talon and Fiercewind easy fear kites. Jarg

was a real stinker, a casteing druid, can be slowed (better be) and was very tough. Kept

rooting and tossing out a couple other goodies. I had kei and HoV so was able to nuke shoot

and melee to finish. Well...I've got three uber rare pieces of junk or ???kpp lol. Have a

good one and stay alive.

A nice addidion
# Jan 12 2003 at 10:18 AM Rating: Default
IF you happen to have a DMG I II or III it actually adds to the dmg done when this weapon procs.

Additionally, If you are a druid, in wolf Form, you are considered KINDLY by the jaggedpine townsfolk (the 2nd faction hit) and kindly by the animals as well.

Didnt con withoutthe wolf form, however all factions were bottomed out after second animal kill in this zone. Great zone for pelts however, mosly lq and mq with a few HQ thrown in too.

Dropped this guy today (Fiercewind)
Fear kited him real easy. Has about same hp as snake but hits like a sissy, 80 ish but misses alot. Has high Agi and AC as I missed him alot and didnt hit him too hard too often.
Not a bad wep for offhand and procs about 6-7 times a fight, but useless stun effect to a fear kiting Ranger.
Nice to sell tho for 2kpp I guess.

Proc

I find with a dex of 106 this proc goes off quite often. It isn't resisted all that often but annoyingly, Whirling Wind doesn't work indoors. Still I agree this makes a nice off hander - the graphic is nice too, looks like an Oakleaf Scimitar.

Actually, I submited this Pick---Drops off of a Named Wolf "Fiercewind". Dark Blue con to a 53rd Druid. Has about as many HP's as an Anaconda. Did not resist snare/root/dots. Dont know how much he hits for, never got that close =)

um... ha ha

Actually it was I who submitted this "pick". That's my modified Vert UI. You are correct though, it was a named wolf named Fiercewind. Dark blue to 56 ranger.

Question: Any faction hit when this wolf is killed?
RE: Easy fight
# Oct 01 2002 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, there was a couple faction hits. One was "critters of Jaggedpine." I don't recall the other one. The wolf was amiable to me (I'm a Druid.)

PS: I submitted a pic for this the other week too, so there!

# Sep 30 2002 at 9:40 PM Rating: Default
If this looks good for a 16 Ranger, What would you do for the Gnoll Slayer( Complete 25/ 40 ) and the Club of Gnoll Bashing (12/ 28)? (Both Damage Scores reflect the Gnoll Bane Damage.) The club is accessible with a Full group starting at around lvl 16.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 30 2002 at 8:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you are 1 stupid ***.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 30 2002 at 10:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No, you're one stupid ***. The 14 damage is the same for any level. The 10 damage bonus increases with level.
RE: where
# Sep 30 2002 at 11:30 PM Rating: Good
Actually Doobin ye are the one that is wrong. That 14 damage would not be for any level as this weapon has a recommended level of 34. It is possible that this weapon is not even equipable below level 34, the other possibility is that for all characters under level 34 the stats will be lowered.
RE: where
# Dec 30 2002 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
Yup, you can equip it at lower levels, and yup, it looses some of the dmg when you do.

yep yep my lvl 10 dru has one has a dmg of 4 at that lvl procs too .
Easily Resisted
# Sep 30 2002 at 5:40 PM Rating: Default
Just an FYI, the whole line of druid wind spells are easily resisted, just like any other 2 effect spells. Basicaly the mob gets to save vs the stun effect, then save vs the damage. If they save vs the stun, no damage. The save vs the damage is all or nothing (unlike most DD spells which can be partialy resisted). Either save made means the spell totaly fails.

Still, great effect (for the level) considering that nobody in their right mind depends on a shaky proc.

Actually you're wrong, the 2 are separate checks. Meaning you can stun and have the dd resisted or it can resist stun and have the dd land.

There may be a few effects in the game that function as you just described, but the druid wind line of spells are not among them.

All of them are all-or-nothing, and if any part of the spell is resisted, the whole thing fails. Just trust me on this, I've casted my fair share of them. :)

Actually, you're both correct. I carry this weapon on my druid, and have since the high 20s (now 40 and ready to replace it) and I often get damage from the proc and a message that says "target has resisted the stun portion of your spell". I've never seen it the other way around though where the stun had effect and the damage portion was resisted. Same when casting the spell or it's wind upgrades.
