I care not what you modern EQ types say or think, i've just started my journey to acquire a set of Ro armor.

So many twinks and much noob gear that is out there that makes this appear old and jaded, but EQ is all about the game experience, not who can make it to the top in the shortest time (you're talking about a player here who took 6 years to do his Ghoulbane quest)

Enjoy the game, however you play it, but let me enjoy my long journey as well, without the snide comments from others.

I was in Norrath before Kunark, and i may not get my Ro armor complete before EQ is dissolved, but hell, i'll have fun, and in my own time.

I like your way of thinking! This is a late post though I completely agree with the idea of doing your own thing at your own pace.

I definitely agree, _DEL_ (why is everyone named _DEL_?). One of my favourite things to do is revisit old zones, sometimes wipe them out (the Crushbone Orcs can attest to my cruelty <laugh>).

Oh, and your post is hardly "late".

Gotta keep the string alive, so here is the first 2004 post (and almost the last chance to post one this year).

It would take a true nostalgia buff to take the trouble to quest up these gloves. Half the effort would net enough cash to buy double the gloves.

I remember when EC was THE marketplace. Heck, I remember when it was Greater Faydark.
Lord this old!

Questing is part of the fun of the game. Who gives a rats *** if you can über up and get better gear. Those that are in the game just to say "woot im better than you" are 1) missing the point and 2) wasting their time because no one that is mature gives a damn.

Its the same as these uber guilders I encounter. They treat the GAME like a JOB. Its bloody rediculous. I quest because I enjoy the accomplishment. My only complaint about ro armor is that it is droppable. WId like to wear only nodrop armor. Then I have the satisfaction of knowing that I accomplished it. Just like I accomplished ghoulbane.

Have fun with the game and stop beign so serious. If all you want to be is uber, bbuy some 65 level character sold by powergaming teams.

The fun is GETTING there, not being there.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 18 2001 at 8:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have kilij plans that I no longer need for any pallies out there wishing to use them for ro boots.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 13 2001 at 2:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bah, I think this person has left or something, as you can see my post has been sitting there since the 7th of May. Do yourself a favor and get some guantlets of the Black, much better in AC and stats.

No offense, brave Knight, but in my opinion, for every Paladin it should be an honour to wear Ro Armour and to quest for it. (Not to buy it)

Agreed, there are better armor pieces you can get at that level. You can hunt like a madman at your preferred hunting site, earn tons of platinum pieces and some day go to East Commonlands and auction for some hours until you find a real good piece of armour for a good price. I don't say this is bad though.

But, my opinion again, if you do it like that, you are missing a lot of the fun, the excitement and the roleplaying aspects the Paladin Class provides. While I am questing for my Ro Armour, I talk with many people, who are all stunned about the difficulty of this quest. But the second thing most of them say is "Wow! This is a cool quest series, I wish my class would have the same."

Now to the questing. I have seen places I would have never visited, I met wonderful people whose help was the only thing that made it possible for me to get Ro Armour pieces. Although I have died many times while collecting the pieces, I would not want to miss a second of it. Those people who helped me became an example for all Adventurers in Norrath: to stop their work and give a helping hand for only one thing, the thankful expression in the eyes of the one you helped and the knowledge that you were able to help. This is power and might, not stats, shining armour or a deadly weapon.

And nobody who has not done the quest can understand the excitement when you cross your fingers, pray to your favourite god, hit the combine button and see the mold and ronium become Ro Armor. That is why I do not care about a single AC point or a mod here and there. I bled and died for that armour, I made friends during the questing and served my God. What more can you expect.

My advice, go out there, quest for your armor and wear it with pride. It is not the best out there, but it is a thing you will remember for your whole life in Norrath.

Safe travels to all of you

Your opinion is duly noted and respected.

However, it is MY belief that a quest should have an acceptable reward with regards to the amount of time and effort invested in it. For the most part, the Rubicite Armor replacement quests do not meet this criteria. Only a few pieces in each set - for example, the cleric bracers, the shaman helm, and the ranger legs - are really worth questing for if one intends to equip those items on a regular basis.

This is not to say that I don't do quests. Quite the contrary. In times past I have quested for complete sets of Totemic and Ivy Etched armor, and my paladin has recently obtained his Ghoulbane. But with so many superior items out there, and with prices falling faster than Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie career, to me it simply makes more sense to strive for the best gear I possibly can.

I certainly don't discredit the role-playing and socializing aspects that these quests provide. Me, I would just take those aspects and apply it to a more lucrative endeavor. (2cp)

I hate to say it, because I sometimes enjoy a good puzzle or quest, but the previous poster hit it right on the head. By the time you are able to complete most of the quests or kill the mobs with the "uber" drops in this game, you either already have or can afford to buy, better than the quest or kill provides as a reward. Even if you group and attempt to take on the quest or mob at a lower level than is probably advisable and you succeed, the reward still usually isn't worth it. The only quests/mobs with drops that are worth fighting for require the backing of a strong guild (sometimes more than one guild) to attain and a lot of luck when rolling the dice afterwards. Everything else is just yard sale trash for the Bazaar.

I somewhat agree as to what is being said about quests but you just have to do the ones that are great items and not do the stupids ones . I have a lvl 54 monk on the nameless from lvl 3 i started the shackle quest . it literally took me to lvl 52 to complete it. I yes I did it all solo and the end result is an item ill wear til the end. Its the Shackle of Tynnonium quest with these stats AC: +12 Str: +10 Sta: +10 Agi: +10 Magic Resist: +10 HP: +25
Weight: 0.1
now on my other wrist I also have the Wrist Guard of Thunder. Uber peice.
