Scars of VeliousGranted yes the 8th Coldain Shawl is good. But with PoP and also some of Vex Thal loot the 8th shawl isn't the best.

Anybody that can get to ST and take out the new mobs to get this loot should be close to or have the 8th shawl and to remove it for this would be crazy. If you don't have the 8th Shawl, get it. It's worth it.

This item doesn't suck.. for everybody. Granted, a necro prolly shouldn't touch this, as hp almost = mana, but other casters who can afford hp might want, most importanly, wizards, who might have the lowest hp already, can put the extra mana to good use in manaburns.. (note: the +int is nice, but if you're a manaburning wizzy, you've most likely already gotten max int)
also note : in PoP, you can get aa-like abilities that will raise your stat cap ;)
so in a month, .. I think the max stat will be 305, if you have that ability fully trained ( which you can do for each stat, I believe)

No this does suck. As a wizard HP is very important I'd rather have a little bit lower mana than -100 HP.....Wizzies need HP b/c there are times we get summoned(even though we shouldn't there are times....like say a mob happens to agro debuff the tank right as you are nuking......).

it looked to me like the max stat cap is 275.. 5 points per lvl for each stat is what the PoP AA list said.
280 without Planar Power at 65.

So as you see, Fear would seem to benifit from a HIGH charisma.

It was confirmed by the Verant spell panel about 2 fan faires ago, in response to, "does -CHA help fear spells?" that lowering charisma DOES NOT AFFECT FEAR SPELLS IN ANY WAY. I've been searching all the archives on various fan sites and the official one for the transcript but have yet to find it. I'm not trying to flame here, just to save necros from sacrificing other stats--and money when they go to buy/sell--by dropping their CHA as low as they can. If anyone can find the official panel transcript, please post a link to it here and any other time you see this kind of misinformation.
Well, 2 problems. One, from what I know neg cha has no effect on fear spells. I have never personally tested this, but I know plenty of uber necros who don't bother getting it down. also, every high level necro I know of is mainly concerned with getting 2 things. Hp and Regen. those equal mana. So even if a necro wanted the neg cha, I'm not sure that alone would balance out the negative HP. Now that being said, this is still a very decent item, but if this dropped, I'd pass on my roll for a wizzy for the same reason a necro might. HP to mana regen.

Yes its got negative 100hp and negative 10 stamina. Thats not the point though. Wizards love this item for manaburns - its all about the + mana/int.
Yup, I'd prefer the extra several hundred (+crit) damage the mana and INT will give you on a Manaburn (or more on regular nukes) rather than the less than one round extra you'll get to live with those 130-odd HP.

If I read that pic correctly, it has negative 10 stamina and negative 100 hp. Does Verant actually think casters need less hp? At this level of the game, all our casters are dying for more HP to survive the once in a while bad aggro.

you didnt read the pic right though, the pic is sorta distorted, prolly from being converted from a .bmp to .gif file its +100hp and sta, look at the stats listed above the pic in plain text ;)

Actually, it looks to me like it is, in fact, -100 HP, and the value was entered incorrectly in the text info.
Negative 100 health is correct. It sucks.
