This item was given out more than two years ago. Back when it was first issued, it was a nice piece of gear.

Actually this had to be handed out recently because the original Rubicite from Cazic had no stats, only AC.
These were definately not handed out recently. The event was more than two years ago. Let me rephrase that. They were originally handed out more than two years ago. I suppose it's possible that they were handed out again in a more recent event.
Go look at the Rubicite Mask (also has stats) in the EQ'lizer database (http://www.gameznet.com/eq/equipment/rubicitemask.html). Notice the copyright date at the bottom of the page? 1999. That page pre-date's the recent Cazic Thule remodel (and the recent EQ'lizer remodel, for that matter :P). It's been in their database for years. Same thing for the Rubicite Cloak (http://gameznet.com/eq/equipment/rubicitecloak.html). Heck, look at the Rubicite Cloak in the Allakhazam database (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2640). It was last updated in December of 2000.
And as a quick note, the original rubicite drops were in Cazic Thule. Awhile after the drops had been removed, there was an event in Najena where it dropped for a few days (over a week on some servers).

just a little FYI, the original rubicite was from najena. man that dates me. i remember when Jboots were farmed in najena 24/7, and you had to wait in long lines to get it.
