this only drops from the SOUTH Kaas Thox Xi Aten Ha Ra. the one in the north room cannot drop it (different loot tables despite the same name). Its a rare drop.
the FABLED version however can drop from either blob. this is because both blobs share the same fabled loots. Its significantly less rare then the unfabled version.
However, they do not get an experience penalty either, such as that suffered by iksar and most other large races.
Halflings get an experience bonus. Not sure who else does.
Illusions do not change your experience table. An enchanter, in human form, would still get any experience bonus or penalty that their race normally receives.
XP penalties: Ogre - Cant be stunned form the front Troll - Innate Regen Iksar - Innate regen
XP Bonus' Halfling - small race (not sure why they get bonus) Any warrior class Gnomes- Small race Human - No natural traits to enhance game play (Infravision)
besides being in illusion does not give you the XP bonus of the class you still get same XP as if you were out of illusion.
This was actually a programming error in Verant's original incarnation of the game. If you are familiar with programming, variables are assigned values (such as experience modifiers) and are hard coded by identifying characters. For instance, XPmodD might be for dwarf, or XPmodDE for Darkelf. Do an XPmodH = 0.05, instead of XPmodHu, and you just accidentally gave Halflings the experience bonus that was intended for Humans. After having it active in the game, they just never decided to nerf Halflings. Hope this helps.

All racial XP penalties have been removed from EQ now.
The only race which recieves an XP bonus are halflings (5%). The only classes which receive an xp bonus are warriors (10%) and rogues (9%). (so Halfling warriors/rogues get 15%/14%). These XP bonuses appy to XP for leveling, but NOT AA xp.
the XP penalties were removed when TSS was released (patch notes).

I would imagine the same effect that a Dark Elf enchanter gets when using the spell Illusion: Human. In that case, there's still the religion problem though.
I don't think I'd like to second guess Verant as to the point of alot of their items in game, however, yeah, if it does have the same effect as the chanter Spell it should make wandering around Norath a little easier... potentially for some of the quests as well. I've noticed that merchants generally don't seem to be too bothered with religion, mainly just pure faction problems. I'll just have to get myself a key for Vex Thal and join in on a raid in there I guess ;-)
Was just curious to see if anyone had looted one as an evil race, to see how useful they had found it.
As a Dark Elf Innoruuk worshipper, I can tell you illusions do help, but usually only mildly. My wife is a Project Illusion enchanter, and yes illusions will make me non-KoS in some places, but it won't put me far above it usually.
For example, I had a newbie dark elf inny mage I made, got PI'd to Human, and went from KoS to apprehensive in Highhold (where I was leveling at the time) so usually it'll bump you to non-KoS, but still not able to buy/sell/do some quests.
Race is only half of a faction, deity is the other, and most folks hate Innoruuk worshippers (kinda fitting)
In some cases (be very careful, it can just as easily make you KoS), it is easier to get a wolf-form illusion from a druid than a projected illusion from an enchanter.
Generally it works like this:
If you are dubious, an illusion *might* kick you over the hub to apprehensive. This will allow you to buy and sell from a vendor, but may not be a high enough faction adjustment to get anything done in a quest.
If you are threatening, an illusion *might* get you over the hub to dubious.
If you are scowling, an illusion will usually *not* be enough to get you over the hump.
However, sometimes earth elemental illusion or wolf/scaled wolf will get you a greater modifier than one of the racial illusions.
My de sk has found that earth elemental illusion (specifically) will sometimes fare her better than trying to (for example) be a high elf. I suspect (but cannot prove) that this may be because earth elementals are (shrouds and illusions excepted) non-playable races that change your religion to agnostic or something like that.
People get offended every day. If you walk through life trying not to break the eggshell little worlds of everyone, you're just going to stumble and fall at some point. Get over it. Sticks and stones and all that.
And yeah, by getting all righteous about some guy's sigfile, you're falling right into what the sigfile is talking about.
afmo wow how uncool of you to call people with special needs that what if that was your brother our sister or even your own kid would you still call them that? think about what your going to say and try not to offend people who might have someone like that with special needs in there family. what a sad sad quote
oh i'm feedin this troll. this is just too good to resist.
if the ****** in question were my sibling i'd have to hire a trial lawyer to muck up the judicial system with my petty complaints about how a hate crime against my sibling had been committed. i think i'd sue on behalf of my sibling for 5 million dollars. i'm quite sure i can find a suitable attorney from all of the ads on tv.
then i'd try to have them arrested for the hate crime and tried in criminal court.
i'd go on ricki lake with said sibling and show the whole world just how pathetic i and my family are. everyone should pity my sibling for their condition and me for the sheer horror of having to deal with a negative thought thrust upon me!
i'd have newspaper articles written about me in the new york times letting the whole world know how unfair it is to have to deal with something beyond my control.
i'd write letters to activist groups trying to get the internet censored for being offensive. i might even try to run for office on such a platform. afterall, nobody wants to feel bad, right?
and after i get slapped down by everyone with any shred of sense and any working brain cell in their head i'd have to leave the country and change my name just so i could start over, learn from my stupidity, and finally come to the realization that if you refuse to cope you're better off dead.
once people know it they try to push your buttons as hard as they can. kinda like me right now. now go sleep on it and try not to wet your bed.
... but the word "disguise" isn't necessarily indicative of human. Perhaps it cycles through various illusions. There is precedence for an item like this... the Vibrating Gauntlets of Infuse, which change back and forth. The way this might work would be you change to human.. then say barb.. etc etc... all the classes.
A shifing illusion would own? Only if you know what illusion it would cast next, and if it kept that illusion the whole time. Otherwise you'd be guaranteed to be KOS at some point to the NPCs you are around, or at least taking a chance.
