With Geerlok All Purpose Baking Utensil, my baking skill is 254. I want to make sure I was over 250 before I attempted this combine because of the high cost of an artisan seal. Tried it today:
"You lack the skill to produce this item" I am not happy! Hopefully I have batter luck with the last combine (298) for Chef Chowderly's Tuna Recipe Compilation

You have no clue what being cheated is if you think you were cheated. I was frigging cheated. I had 300 skill and failed the combine. I also have Baking Mastery 3 which it doesn't sound like you had when you did your combine. I also have salvage 6 and didn't salvage either the seal or the dairy spoon. I know my luck really sucks especially in Everquest. I should have made sure i had Geerlok All Purpose Baking Utensil first. With the utensil I was able to get it on my 2nd combine.

FAILED AGAIN with skill 262!! I will not be attempting this again until I get AA salvage ability and I talk to someone that has been successful with in the last month.

Ya, I found that out with my Grandmasters Corker for Brewing. Essentially, the ammo slot stats don't help you. You need to put it in one of the other slots to get the effect.

I went through the same thing, thinking that sony was actually doing something really cool for TSers :)

I find the item useful anyway. I don't have to keep swapping items when buying components, combining, and then buying more components. Not only that, but the CHA means that you will always get the best vendor deal.

Got mine tonight with 211 skill -- used a geerlok that bumped to 221. YAY!

the GoD baking is a scream...made that beer-battered crab & tuna souffle all day long.

I have an enchanter who has this, and she does not get the stats when its in the ammo spot. I think you have to be a melee class that can have an ammo item to get the stats from it there.

also, has anyone tried the upgrade Jollum (sp?) in the bazaar talks about ? ?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 21 2004 at 10:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) says 250 is when its trivial could THAT be why you failed? :P

I have to agree with Generas. Have had 3 unsuccessfuls now at 247 with Geerlock. How depressing!

I'm a 65 bard 280 int 240 baking plus 5% geerlok. Got bored tonight and decided to do the combine, got it first try. Must of been good luck, but just wanted to say it is possible.

I just got my gm spoon today! The 5% modifier does NOT stack with the geerlok. My skill was at 235 with one of the 2 items equipped and with both equipped(according to the new tradeskill ui).

I had a modified skill of 235 and made it on the 2nd attempt. I was aggravated that I did 77 combines, with 60 successes, and with ZERO skill ups. I tried it for the heck of it.

The upgrade quest is for the old gm trophies: The ones that couldn't summon a bag.

edit: I went back to look at the triv for the gm spoon and the recipe wasn't listed!

As with other items, you do not get the stats if it is equipped in the ammo slot. You can, however, cast the effect.

Do you get the stats on this item if it is equiped in ammo slot? (I know you will get the mod to skill but will you also get 50 cha and all that cause if so it would be nice to add a lil bit in a useless slot ;) (druid here so i normally have fishing bait there and 10 wis would be nice hehe)

You can still put this in your ammo slot, but you will not get any stats for it there. Think of it as a convenient place to store the trophy until you need to use it.

I think that Alla's doesn't include the ammo slot in the details because they don't want it showing up on ammo searches. That's just a guess, though.

Does the 5% baking modifier stack with the 5% on the Geerlock All Purpose Baking Utensil?
RE: Skill Modifer
# Dec 16 2003 at 5:28 PM Rating: Default
A friend of mine told me to try making the GMBS at around 240 because of the fact that they stack ... due to the fact that at a Skill of 240 the SMBS plus the Geerlok would bring your skill past max...

Can anyone verify that they stack? He is a GM in most every Trade Skill in the game so I will assume he is correct for now, hehehe
RE: Skill Modifer
# Jan 18 2004 at 12:48 PM Rating: Default
I haven't tried making this Grandmaster Baking Spoon yet, but the picture shows that it is a LORE item, which means you can only have one of them. So, I don't think they stack.

RE: Skill Modifer
# Feb 03 2004 at 11:45 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, the GMBS is LORE and you can have only one, but the Geerlok is a different item altogether and can be used with it...though I hear they 5% modifications do not stack. Wish there were a way to see what my modified skills are to prove/disprove that theory.
What level?
# May 28 2003 at 9:58 AM Rating: Decent
At what baking level is this worth attempting? anything less than 250?
RE: What level?
# Nov 23 2004 at 3:07 PM Rating: Decent
I suceeded with 248 in brewing and 225 in baking last night and I did not have any modifier equipment. I did get KEI so my wis was maxed (320 currently) and I buffed myself (Beastlord) to max out str, sta, and dex.

To get the perminant 10 slot 100% WR bag, you have to goto the bazaar and talk to the gnome on the balcony of the second floor of the middle building. You can only have 1 grandmaster carry-all. I was hoping to get 1 for baking and 1 for brewing, but they are the same bag and lore :(
RE: What level?
# Nov 23 2004 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
I lucked out and got both on the first try. I paid 6.3k each for the seal and 700pp for the corker and 100pp for the spoon (Sol Ro server).
RE: What level?
# Jul 21 2003 at 9:34 AM Rating: Decent
Attemped last night with 238 + Geerlok... made it first try. 240 + Geerlok (252 Skill maxed) should be the best it gets according to many sources.

why is there 10 dex on the poison making trophy?
if there using dex instead of int or wis why cant everyone else?
RE: bullcrap
# Mar 05 2003 at 7:26 PM Rating: Decent
I agree if there are going to make the poison making trophy with added dex then take away a stat that they don't need such as int. This way there's no friction between the classes when it comes to these trophies. I personally could use the Dex also as a wizzy, it improves crit hit possibilities, but only rogues can get that trophy with all the same stats and dex too.
RE: bullcrap
# Nov 16 2002 at 9:05 PM Rating: Decent
cause it's for rogues. and rogues don't need wis/int/mana... they need dex & str, so.. there might actually be some poison makers who make their trophy, not just to put it in ammo
RE: bullcrap
# Sep 25 2002 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
Because dex is a secondary stat check for poisons. Baking...I'm not totally sure if it has a secondary stat check, but it seems that those without them (like jewelcraft) are getting a default stat of STR.
RE: bullcrap
# May 19 2003 at 12:29 PM Rating: Decent
Fletching definitely has a secondary stat check on the Dex skill, but the fletching knife does not carry the Dex bonus. I think EQ's main reason for adding the Dex bonus to the poison trophy is simply because rogues have absolutely no use for wisdom or intelligence as far as killing mobs are concerned. Therefore, without the dex bonus, their trophy is considerably less in value to them than trophies are to caster/hybrid classes.
