We have done 12 Kills of AHR and I have seen one of these drop (I looted on 24 May 2003). I have seen 1 of the priest class versions of this ring drop as well. If that gives you any sense of rarity. I have yet to see the int caster wrist drop, have seen one priest wrist drop. The int caster Mask of Secrets slightly more common (4 have dropped). Orb of Secrets dropped today for the first time (I looted on 21 June 2003).

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 11 2002 at 4:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) think about it all, the only class that will get a shot at this is clerics, why guilds want there clerics to have all the mana they can for heals and rezes, druids, shamans, will only get this if its about to expire or the clerics got one already, i play a druid and have been kicked out of several randoms on items cuz the guild wanted the clerics to be untouchable, forget the cleric, < my druid no longer casts heal on the Ma, Let him die then i gate, thats how it works ,,, no only my guild so far will alow me a shot at the items i wish or the vengful druid ports the sks, iskarss darkelfs orcs and anyone else thats along for the ride to SFG, where i watch as death comes in a large wave of very pissed off druids,

I'll first say that I am in a tier 8 guild. Now it's time for a story of two guilds that started on the same server, at the same time, post luclin. One used a mandated system and one started using a dkp system then moved to the mandated system under merit.

When the dkp guild not yet cleaned up Aay at Ntov, the mandate guild had hit Creator, Burrower and AL. When the dkp guild had hit Arch`Lich, the mandate did AOW. When the DKP guild had killed Cursed, the Mandate guild had killed Aten Ha Ra 4 weeks earlier.

Now the dkp guild was more open about giving out items - ie to druids whose mana supply and ft doesnt help the guild much. The mandate stacked their clerics, MA, and rogues hard and had cleaned ST-1,2,3 by the time the 3rd guild, a wide-open(no restrictions) dkp guild had wiped on Venril Sathir.

The lesson behind all this is that your druids' cheal is about half as good as a cleric. Yes, you're a half-man. A cleric could take his point of FT and turn it into twice as many HPs as you, and a wizard could take the FT and turn it into more damage than you. If you noticed, I am currently a wizard in a VT capable guild and my recharge nuke does 1488-1800dmg for 250 mana(ratios 5.952 - 7.2), one of my lures is broken so I wont mention that its ratio is better than druid nukes(arl), and heavy magic at about ratio 4 and fire for 4.28 iirc. Druid ratio nukes are very slow for dealing damage at 168 cast-dps while wizards are at 342.5. If you've done a pop fight, you know that dps is something to be seriously rushed on those targets(like tanks using boc/bf instead of ahb/bf here as opposed to the latter on luclin).

Druids get little guns, but they get a lot of guns. You play your class for variety, and this is your reward. While you may be struggling on tier 1, you have no idea what goes on in vt. Most guilds use some sort of mandated system, but some use dkp(which is good around when there is no major guild build up). People do not roll in vex thal. Understand that items are just not for personal use, but also for the use of the guild. What helps the guild most is to put items where there's maximum benefit for them. When a guild is stronger, they get to do more and better stuff. What you did yester-year with 50 people(tier 3 mostly), you do this day with 12(when you can do cursed etc).

What I'm getting is that Wizards, Warriors, and Clerics get more stuff than the rest because it helps the guild, too. Druids, Necros and the like can also expect to see good stuff. Sure a Shadowknight won't get the first Bloodfrenzy but he's going to see some nonrestricted loot for his contributions. Druids also get loot- but by the time youre FT5, expect for a similar contributing cleric to be 12+.

good speech, but
i do play this game for MY enjoyment not for OTHERS ejnoyment, so when you say this items not for you druid/necro/mage/ranger or any other class out of holy trinity how would you like it when all OTHEr classes would leave the guild for their OWn enjoyment, and leave all the cleric/war/wiz behind so they can benefit the guild? Just make Uber trinity only guild, no classes ecxept war/cle/wiz are allowed and be done with it

BTW, Bloodfrenzy is WAR only, leave poor SKs alone

What happens to alot of Merit based guilds is that people get fed up with being at the bottom of the loot ladder and sometimes putting more effort in than those that are at the top of the loot ladder.
DKP or however your particular guild terms it, rewards you for time spent supporting your FRIENDS and GUILDMATES in thier efforts to progress. Sure, you need to have well equipped characters to progress, but those people should be the people who put the most time and effort into the progression. In merit system CLERIC_01 has FT 15, 5400+ mana pool, and knows that if they want something new they are going to have to wait til the next step in the progression chain to get anything that they can consider an upgrade. This person then just participates enough to keep his merit up, but no more than he has to. In the same guild UNDERLING_CLASS_01/02/03/04... gets fed up with spending 10 hours a raid day working thier butts off, and seeing CLERIC_01 coming in after the work is done, and getting GIGANTIC_UPGRADE_01 because it's thier turn, UNDERLING_CLASS_0X gets fed up eventually and stops coming to raids and drops out of guild eventually.

Every class has it's place, every class has it's uses. Some are broken to the point they are too easy, some are broken to the point they are too hard, but they all still have a purpose. Most people play this game for fun, and who am I to dictate who an item is better for. If the dev's put CLR DRU SHM on it, then guess what, THAT is who the item goes to. Not JUST one of those classes.

See, now this bothers me. What you're saying is that because you gave all of your clerics, wizards, warriors and rogues the best possible gear, you're a better guild. Now, it seems to me that giving out gear based purely on what class they are is a little short-sighted. Well, ok, a lot short-sighted. After all, who is going to want to join a guild knowing that they are going to be getting passed over for the truly desirable gear, simply because they aren't the right class? To deem someone "unworthy" simply because you don't think their class contributes enough is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

Let me tell you a tale of 2 other guilds. One that used DKP, and another that used merit. The merit based guild did very well, until late Velious. From late ntov (Vulak) and on, the DKP guild moved further and further ahead of the merit guild. Eventually, it came to the point that the DKP guild had free reign in all elemental planes while the merit guild was still vying for the occasional Emperor or Cursed shot, had given up on VT, and was struggling with Bertox. Pretty much the polar opposite of your tale. It goes to show that guild advancement has less to do with loot distrobution than player skill.

What helps the guild most isn't putting items where they seem to provide maximum benefit to the guild. The key to guild progression is a player base that is determined to progress, and why progress if not to acquire the gear you've been lusting after? Why would a ranger care about getting to the Emperor if he knew that the warriors were going to be taking all the AHB's and haste boots first, the wizards and enchanters were going to take all the koadic robes first, and the rogues were going to get the melee rings? Should he be content with knowing that *eventually* he'll be deemed worthy of owning something, if only because there's nobody else "more important" to give the item to?

P.S. Why would an SK want a Bloodfrenzy? Either you are completely ignorant of anything having to do with melee, you mixed up the names of weapons, or maybe you aren't as experienced as your post tries to make you seem.

I play a cleric, and I joined the guild because they are a DKP guild that respects the usefulness of all their members. The guild was founded about a year ago and we were extremely pleased at the time for killing Doomshade. There were three other guilds in Ssra at the time. Now we're in SolRo and working on Rallos Zek, with one (DKP) guild in the EPs, one guild that can't beat RZ since they fixed the exploit (using some weird hybrid system), and the third (mandate) still farting in Vex Thal with very little progress in PoP while some twinks are getting gear ahead of dedicated non-key-class mains.

I think his point is that we all play the game and a difference of 4 weeks to most half-men, full-men, or women is nothing compared to the pleasure of playing and getting a shot at some items, etc. Min/Maxer's and content blockers are not better than anyone else...Bub.
Stackable?
# Nov 20 2002 at 9:53 PM Rating: Default
My only question is will this stack with C3? or C4/C5 from PoP? If it does then whoever has this item will have some serious mana regen.

Yes in fact this effect Koadic's Expansive Mind does stack with the enchanter buff Koadic's Endless Intellect. Unlike the enchanter buff, which is a mana regen of 15 i believe, this effect increases your mana pool by 250 mana and NOT your mana regeneration. :) Hope i cleared up a little confusion :)

It will not stack. It's just like the chanter cast C3.
RE: Stackable?

It will stack because notice the effect is not Koadic's Endless Intellect it's Koadic's Expansive Mind.

I've got a question...
# Sep 24 2002 at 2:23 AM Rating: Default
I would assume the effect is self only, but....is it? If it were targeted...well, everyone with mana would be your best friend if you had this ring. Hehe.

The spell says it is a self only spell, so I would so, "Yes, it is self only."

A Cleric/Druid/Shaman ring with insane stats that right clicks KEM? I need a freaking rubber life raft to stay afloat with all of the drool I'm producing right now. Someday....somehow, that ring will be mine. Need 250 mana for those extra heals, rezzes, etc? And good lord, it's got 125 mana already on it. So a 375 mana ring... Someone slap me, I must be dreamin'...
