Confirmed that these still drop off the ghoul sentinel in Lower Guk tonight.

Guild tribute offered 48 points for them.

Guild hall vendor offered 10p.

Aside from being Berzerker wearable, there is no difference between the gaunts from the picture above.
What's the upgrade?
# Jul 29 2003 at 10:35 AM Rating: Default
Does anyone know what the upgrade is... I mean the same Stats but higher numbers? I like these gloves... but I'd like 16+AC 10+Dex and 100 Mana or there abouts... Thanks...

Lucked out, really lucked out!
Was playing an alt on Erollisis server, went to the fletching vendor in SFG, and lo and behold!
Fetched my ranger (main) from NFreeport, none of my guildies were available for a quick transit. So I paid 25 plat for a ride from WC to SFG, and a well spent 25 plat it was!
My alt was told by the NPC that the price was 123 plat and some gold and silver and such. But when I saw the stats, HoooHA! Cheap at that!
But I forgot! Alt is young! No charm enhancements! My main, wearing all the charm gear he had = 113 plat 9 gold and some silver and copper.
And they work soooooo well!

I have just acquired these for my Shadow Knight and I find them really usefull. They provide a lot of mana which is always helpful at the low levels. (Our first pet requires 30 mana alone) The dex bonus is also great for adding to procs from weapons and Vampiric Embrace. I am using a Spirit Reaver and plan on upgrading to a better proc weapon soon so Dex is always good.

Say what?
These move pretty quick at 150pp for me. These are excellent twink/low/mid level gloves for rangers (love that dex for archery, fletching, weapon skills and mana is nice too), shadow knights (dex for channeling skill + almost 3 lifespikes or a lifedraw worth of mana), rogues and bards. The falling price on gauntlets of the black is squeezing the pally market and warriors are probably better off with crafted, but these are solid for the other classes that can use em. Of course on an older server, folks will likely have something better by their high 30s when they can get em but that doesn't mean they're junk.

My only problem with these is that clerics + shammies can't use them ... probably see em going for ~300 if they could.
%0 mana is super

I paid 100 P for these. 50 mana may not seem like much .... but to a troll sk with out any sent stuff.......
Darkmail Gaunts... a tough item to sell
# Oct 30 2001 at 5:04 PM Rating: Excellent

The dark elf found his way through the tunnel with ease. It had become much like a hunting ground now, even more so like his home. Days and nights he would spend there, improving his languages and more importantly, attempting to get a good deal.

The plate of his golden pants fit snugly around his legs and waist, a few pieces of it clanking regally against the base metal. He wore a large shirt of mail, its color of an eerie black, along with blue woven sleeves and gloves interrupted by thick silver bracers. His boots matched the tunic, and an amulet swung at his collarbone. As he made his way to the first torch of the tunnel several unnerving stares followed him, burning through his soul. It was as if they had never seen a Teir'Dal before...

One of the humans sneered at him, but approached just the same.

"'Ave you anything to sell?" He nearly spat, the foul smell of old alcohol on his breath.

The dark elf, Mylez D'ril, his name oft' scorned where he had previously spent his time, slung the pack from his shoulder and let it fall gently to the ground. He kneeled and opened it as the man bent at the knees to get a better look. Mylez pulled out a pair of gauntlets burned in black. They radiated with a magical aura and the man studied them coarsely.

"Darkmail Gauntlets?" He asked.

Mylez confirmed that they were.

"What use 'ave I for such gauntlets? I am a warrior. What need 'ave I for the power to cast spells eh?" And with a repulsing laugh the man stumbled away, leaving Mylez alone at the torch.

Ten minutes later, after his ears were filled with the rugged haggling of the dealers around him, Mylez was ready to leave. He grabbed the gauntlets and began to stuff them back into the bag when a pale-skinned elf presented itself before him.

"Hail, good sir!" It kindly approached.

"Xas?" Mylez replied, the first word he had spoken that night.

"I've of late been hearing you've Darkmail Gauntlets for sale?"

"Xas, that is correct. I have them. You are... interested?" He asked with a calm hesitation.

"Aye, that I am. I've a need for their magical qualities, and as it is now, my hands are bare. Mind if I take a look?"

Mylez nodded silently and handed the young man the gauntlets, studying him curiously as the elf's eyes lit up at just the sight of them.

"How much might you be selling these for kind sir?"

"I had naut yet begun to price... forgive me for being unprepared, but I have received little interest. I did naut expect such... exuberance today."

"You mean you've not men like myself beating down your door to try to snatch these away from you?"

"Lately I have naut been able to give them away much less sell them or have someone wish to steal them."

The elven boy chuckled at this. "I ask thee Tunare has this man before me granted me false information? For surely such a special item has impressed upon the public as it has upon me!"

"You are my first real customer," Mylez admitted.

"Well then allow me to be the last. Or at least I am hoping." The man searched through his bags, his expression of joy turning to an instant one of sorrow. "I've a mere one hundred fifty platinum pieces on me at the moment. And I've heard merchants selling such gloves for far more... I suppose 'tis time to pack up and stop dreaming..." The elf slung his small pouch round his shoulder and with chin nearly resting upon his chest, began to walk slowly away.

"Wait!" Mylez called quickly. "Come back, young one. I've need to sell them... I shall take one hundred for them. Keep the extra fifty for practical purposes."

The young man's eyes lit up once more. "You are serious, M'lord?"

"Xas, as long as you do naut call me by such a title..."

"Then what shall I call thee sir?" He asked as he pulled out a smaller bag and sorted the platinum coins that were to be exchanged. In a moment he had divided them all and gave the small bag with one hundred to Mylez. In return, Mylez gave the young elven ranger the gauntlets and watched as he molded them around his hands with satisfaction.

"You may call me Mylez, Teir'Dal priest of the D'ril."

"I know not if I can remember all of that, sir, but I shall try. And I shall make use of the gauntlets! The evils of this land shall run in panic of my fists!"

A nearby monk snickered.

"Xas, well safe journeys abbil. Aluve, and may I meet other customers as devoted as you."

And with a nod of respect the two men went their separate ways.

Epilogue: Five days later Mylez was flat broke after having spent the 100pp on smithing supplies and as for the elven ranger... well who knows. With the way the economy works he no doubt sold those gauntlets back that very same night ;)

# Oct 26 2001 at 10:53 PM Rating: Decent
I bought a pair from a high lvl player for 25pp (he was canceling his account) It took me forever to sell them, i finally sold them for 125pp. Do u think i make the right choice? Im a rogue and i already had gloves with 5dex 5agi. Lemme know what u think
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 16 2001 at 11:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'll buy a pair!
Not Black but Close
# Jul 24 2001 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
They look black but in fact I tried on some Ravenscale gloves and I watched the color change. They are REALLY dark grey or brown, but they look black enough for me. By the way, I like these better than the Ravenscale Gloves... +5 DEX I'll take any day. Now if I could just get my mana bar to go up... =)
Who's sellin' thiers - TODAY?!?
# May 31 2001 at 1:25 PM Rating: Default
All I know is it's another AC and DEX twink I could sorely use - tho' for the life of me, I don't understand why anything that has a Mana twink would even be needed by a Rogue, but oh well... If yo've got a pair to sell, I should be on around 5pm today (5/31) - give a shout; I'll either be in the EC, NRo, or Oasis... you name a reasonable price (for the love of Brell Seris's Dusty Butt, 100pp is NOT considered reasonable - make sense in the rest of the world whydon'tcha); you got $$$ and I got another twink... ;)

Paladins, Shadow Knight, Warriors. Even Bards and Rogues.

But no clerics? What's the deal? That makes no sense whatsoever...

Forget about the WIS+ ... at Lvl 30 you need +10 Wis for 60 More Mana and these little sweetees give you 50 Mana (about +8 Wis?) +5 Dex and a great 10 AC - at THAT price :o)

(plus it's easier to get WIS+ Items for other slots than Hands - so you can max your Wisdom AND have 50 more mana :o)

RE: Wis
# Aug 01 2001 at 3:03 PM Rating: Decent
Aye, but at higher lvls, wis yields more mana, and wis determines how fast you learn skills. I play a ranger, and sometimes when Im low on HP, ill equip my Testament of Vanear and start nuking to help my group out (Tracked Dyllin in Highpass, im the only one in the zone, I thought, why not?)
. Sometimes spells are much better taunts then melee, so wis counts.
good for hybrids
