Polished Obsidian Shard  

 

This isn't too bad a weapon for a rogue, where higher DMG means higher backstabs. However, the Fungusbeast Spine is 13/28 with +2 Disease DMG (so 13-15 DMG overall) and sells for only a few hundred plat on my server. Slightly slower, but a lot cheaper. Depending on the mob's resists, the FS could have a ratio only a tiny bit worse than this (1.8666 compared to 1.857). No recommended levels on it either, so it's even better at lower levels.

This weapon does have an effect: Obsidian Shatter, same as regular Obsidian Shard, the base weapon for this troll cultural smithed one.

The Obsidian Shatter effect, 30 DD, works before the recommended level of 45, probably the same level the effect works on the regular Obsidian Shard. Personally can attest to proccing at 42, and at lvl 42 the weapon is 13/26.

Shaman and Beastlords not eligible classes, though it is a piercer. Same classes as the base weapon, Obsidian Shard.

Recipe takes two blue diamonds (one celestial temper for each block of acrylia) which brings the making price to somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200 per attempt, depending on BD price and acrylia price. However not trivial to GM troll smith, so expect fails. The smith who made one for my rogue was 1/3 on it, which still is a bargain for the price since he did combine for free.

Epics are pretty much obsolete for melee anyways. It's nice to see these trade skills finally pay off... to bad they still suck hard price and component wise.
