I've had this item for quite some time now. I notice virtually no difference with or without it equiped. I think the spell skill lvls may be hard capped at this time. Who knows if they will raise them when OoW comes out.
Good For All Listed Classes
# May 16 2004 at 8:09 AM Rating: Good
This item has no effect (that I know of) on resist rates, so it's no better for a Shammy than for a Cleric.

It increases SKILL levels; CHARACTER levels have nothing to do with it at all.

All three of the listed classes will be happy with fizzing less often. No Cleric should think twice about bidding for this item, if given a chance.

Brilliance of Ro raises Abjuration, Alteration, Conjuration, Divination, and Evocation by 20 skill levels, which reduces fizzles and, therefore, saves mana.

This effect is the upgrade to mods such as: Alteration +5%.

IE. Brillance of Ro will increase Alteration (235) to Alteration (255). Alteration +5% will increase Alteration (235) to Alteration (246).

How many times have clerics cursed after fizzling on Hand of Virtue; shamans after fizzling on Focus of the Seventh; druids fizzling on that final nuke that would've completely drained their mana pool and finish off their prey? Having this effect will *help* keep you happy.

There's no info to be found on the internet about whether or not two items with this same effect will stack, stack with the other +% mods, or what the hard cap on spell casting schools are.

I understand what the effect does but what I read somewhere that casting levels were hardcapped at 65. Were they simply wrong or does this effect have no effect for casters that are already at level 65?

The effect is great for casting Mark of Karn or Mark of Retribution on big mobs.

Crap for clerics but nice for shammys. Slows don't get resisted by those slowable high level mobs.

I am soo sick of peeps stating that an item is crap for one class and great for another...if that was the case, then the class that it is 'no good' for wouldn't be listed. I am of firm belief that one class may benefit a bit more than another, but no reason that all classes listed should not bid on it.
RE: Re: crap effect
# May 05 2004 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
I am soo sick of peeps stating that all classes can benefit from an item as if that meant that they should actually get the item before other classes. Believe it or not there are some items that are MUCH more useful in the hands of some classes than others.

There is a reason why people analyze which classes should get an item with a particular effect. Lets say you are on your first AOW kill and a BOC drops and a bard or ranger (or even Pally or SK) just happens to have the highest DKP in guild atm, are you going to tell me that they should get the BoC if they really want it?

As a cleric, I guess I feel that way about this item becuase I spend most of my time on raids healing and I have yet to have someone resist my heals. If a mob resists my nuke... no big deal. If a mob resists my reverse damage shield... no big deal. But if a mob resists a shammy slow, it can be a big deal.

Its one thing to run around and post /droool... I want this... signed level 1 druid

Its an entirely different thing when someone who has seen something drop, thought about whether to bid on it, debated it a bit, and realized that their class should not get the item.

To be honest I'm not even sure how this effect works exactly, I have read somewhere that this effect is useless for a level 65 character, I have also read that this ONLY affects fizzle rate. I made the above post on the premise that this affected resist rates.

Common???
# Oct 03 2002 at 6:53 PM Rating: Decent
How "common" can an item be...that drops off a level 66 mob?

RE: Common???
# Mar 05 2003 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
It means more of what you can expect to see if you do manage to kill that mob.

For example, if you kill this mob 10 times, you could expect to see this shield 5 times.
But, you would only see it's "rare" once in those 10 kills.

Dig?

Off FoH's site and their Vex Thal database... which Im sure you should all beliveve is real.

Since they use their own database, they don't use screenshots, but here's a screenshot of it from their site... feel free to go look for yourself Smiley: yikes
http://mrx7.com/Pictures/aegisofjudgement.jpg Smiley: jawdrop

Keep in mind this is the END GAME, you will get the BEST items in the game from Vex Thal, so this is very believeable people... just use their database and browse some items, you'll realize how things have changed since the "Vision" went away hehe.

Would you rather use the Pal/Sk epic over this?:

don't forget that the pal epic was first epic, and sk epic came next. they are horrible (but look the best) compared to alot of weapons out there now. i mean come on look at the sword from tunare, that blows either epic away.

I have one on my Cleric on Terris Thule Server.....Aten Ha Ra drops a set of stuff with Judgement in the title and this stuff remains some of the best gear in the game for priest classes. Anyone who says this is bad for Cleric is not thinking straight. This is good for any class that can use this, and it is one of the highest AC items in the game.

This is real...
# Sep 13 2002 at 5:45 AM Rating: Decent
I play on Mithmarr, home of afterlife and I know of at least one person that I have talked to who has this. Also, to the people comparing this to the epic, perhaps you should gain a couple levels, maybe then you will realize that epics really arent all that hard and most classes end up banking them or never acquiring simply because there are much better items. For example, most pallys, sks, and warriors never do their epics not because they are too hard but because the massive bottlenecks that verant has implemented to make them "hard". Even still, the Vex Thall key makes that Emerald Dragon Scale look like a hohum drop thats all too common. Peace.
RE: This is real...
# Sep 13 2002 at 4:03 PM Rating: Decent
In a certain twisted sense, epics are a waste of time for melee classes. It's a badge of honor for many classes that quickly becomes obsolite (most notibly the warrior. There are many weapons that are compairable or better than the warrior epic, and since they don't have a long involved quest with multiple rare drops involved from raid style mobs are easier to obtain). Basicaly, it's getting to the point that epics are desirable because they have a unique powerful effect. Weapon wise there are better weapons for each and every class. If your class is all about casting spells with little melee involved, you should definatly get your epic. If your class is combat oriented its certainly possible to exceed the potnetial of your classes epic with a lot of careful planning and selection of gear/raiding locations. Basicaly, if you associate with people who hunt NToV or HoT or something more difficult on a regular basis and your a melee, why exactly are you doing your epic? If you can't guarentee this kind of hunting then your epic looks much more attractive.

What about the Bard Epic? Ever see a high level bard bank their epic? i havent. even FoH and Afterlifes bards still use their epic and i will never bank mine either ;)
RE: This is real...
# Sep 18 2002 at 9:32 PM Rating: Default
paladin epic might not be "too hard" but I know it kept me at 52 for about 26 dragon raids over six months(led half of them lol) anyway I'm posting this because they removed all caps from bashing and I do mean ALL caps, I'm hitting about 150 regular bashing with my epic which makes the pally a bit more attractive just FYI ;)

RE: Uh uh
# Sep 12 2002 at 10:32 PM Rating: Default
Just getting into VT takes more time than doing an epic. Let alone being in a guild capable of killing the boss of the zone. If you think of what a challendge VT is, this item doesnt look too good to be true, and in fact might be able to be better.

RE: Uh uh
# Sep 13 2002 at 1:20 AM Rating: Default
How the hell could this be better? They could add 5hp and 5mana to it before the cap is hit...wooptie friggin do. Maybe round out the resists to 20? 25? Again...wooptie friggin do.

Maybe your point is that Vex Thal is just too time consuming to get in to...and you're probably right. But this item CAN'T get any better. There's just really nowhere for it to go.

Add a 10/tick mana and 10/tick HP regen to it? :p
RE: Uh uh
# Sep 13 2002 at 3:52 PM Rating: Default
It could right click manaburn, or maybe jolt. Honestly, this is what it is. Extreme AC, stats, bonus HP/Mana, very nice saves, and an effect that currently dosen't work (VI says they'll fix it soon. I belive them, but I wouldn't hold my breath). If you can use it, you like it. I seriously doubt that anyone who has an opportunity to get one of these dosen't immediatly start using it. WHo knows? Their hunting Vex Thal, maybe the do have something better, or at least something they find more useful than the chest full of goodies this item represents.
Point is, there is ALWAYS room for improvment, but you may have to wait for another expansion or someone to pull off the impossible (Kyraphim steaks anyone?)
