No, the drum can be cast from inventory.
65 and epic
# Jul 07 2004 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
For a 65 bard with epic this is kind of useless effect wise. HoS is better and the mod is same as epic. Most bards have high instrument mod AA at that level too. Stats though its not bad. Though I rather have a Charm of defence ;)
DRums
# Apr 03 2004 at 12:00 AM Rating: Default
we have kill TVK around a dozen times and we saw our first ones drop. These drums modifeir is NOW 1.8 does not stack with other mods. Thus, these drums are worthless for the modifers, and worthless for a set of drums. However these drums are really only used for the hp stats AC< sta etc,....
RE: DRums
# Apr 03 2004 at 12:07 PM Rating: Decent
I'd love to have a set of these for range slot. It's not a great mod, but it's enough for pulling with harmony of sound which requires some percussion mod. Then I could finally upgrade my battle drummers main gauche.
wonder?
# Oct 06 2003 at 3:21 AM Rating: Good
if these are in range and you got tdok (thunderous drums of karana) in primary/secondary do you get the better percussion part on tdok? +80% kinda sucks all the other stats rock though :)

you get the highest mod available, so yes, you would get the mod from tdok alone.
how often droped?
# Jun 22 2003 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
how often does kelun drop these? I have raided and killed him several times and have seen almost all his drops but these =\

Not very it seems. My guild has killed this mob over 15 times now and we finally got one this week.

we've gotten 2, and killed him at least a dozen times. the effect is really handy for pulling etc. its not as good as harmony of sound but if you're in need of spell slots its pretty handy

OMG...this item would be amazing even without the percussion portion....of course if you have VT key you must allready have something else godlike in ranged....
Bard Instruments and their modifiers
# Jan 20 2003 at 9:06 PM Rating: Excellent
Go to http://Lucy.fnord.net you will get the correct pecent modifiers for any instrument. The Drums look nice but i think their main purpose is to be a Bard percussion enchancement in the range slot cuz the percent is only 1.8% like troubabour's mace and singing short sword.

That will allow you to still equipp a weapon in secondary while having another instrument in Primary to twist in other songs of effect like string, brass, and wind. Many primary hand instruments are out there. All of these are primary hand weapons which allow you to dual wield hopefully in secondary your Epic Singing Short Sword:

Percussion - Drums of the Beast 2.6% (i bet there is a 3.4% drum out there!)
String - Lute of the Howler 2.2%, Lyran's Mystical Lute 2.5%, and Lute of Flowing Waters 3.4%
Brass - Flawless Ivory Horn 2.0%, Verlekarnorm's Horn of Disaster 2.2%, and Blaring Horn of Fire 3.4%
Wind - Agilmente's Flute of Flight 2.2%, Ervaj's Flute of Flight 2.2%, and Tormented Flute 2.8% (and i know there has got to be a 3.4% flute out there as well!)

Check it out, many misconceptions have been tried and proven. True dedication to the Lucy team!

Uber Players only
# Sep 20 2002 at 8:46 AM Rating: Default
Haaa!!! Crazy zone, all the mobs are 60+ mostly and you would have to be in a group of super uber players to go in here and get anything out of it, besides dying!! The drum is mostly playable and clickable in slot. Obviously it should be, if you have the balls to go in here and kill whatever drops the thing. I wouldnt think the drums would be stackable with other drums though, that would be to easy. The bard would be to powerful. Unfortunately they like to balance us bards out to much. Whoever gets this, Hail to you!!! Super Uber Bard!!!

awesome
# Sep 13 2002 at 3:12 PM Rating: Default
wow.... Anyone know if the stats work in the range slot? those stats alone would make this one of the best range slots in the game. IMO.. can't wait to see more instruments like this drool..

You don't really think this will allow them to sing percussion songs from the range slot do you? If so, it would be game-changing for a bard. That would be amazing.

most bards would have their epic in offhand for the all instrument effect. Having this in the range would allow bards to free up one of the eight spell slots (plus the excellent stats).
ratio
# Sep 12 2002 at 10:37 PM Rating: Decent
according to most bard board this thing has a ration of 3.0 with drums of the beast only have a 2.3 so yeah its leet.. bur has to be equipped to get the bonus occlud can be click from range though

Yes, this one is rumorred to be 3.0. Drums of the Beast are 2.6, Selo's drum is 2.4, Walrus is 2.3, and a basic store drum is 1.8.
RE: ratio
# Oct 11 2002 at 2:24 AM Rating: Default
hi ya
according to my calculate...

(3.0-2.4):(x-35%)=(2.4-1.8):(35%-0)
x= 70% ...it is selo's drum double
speed (call it "shadow-speed"...
means, can not find a really body
appear in your eyes because your
speed "too fast"...

put into the RANGE slot very good
idea and good use ...

range effect extremity powerful...

have a nice day

If they have this in the range slot, do they still get the percussion instrument bonus?

Just thinking...

Isn't there a one-handed drum (drums of the beast), plus the epic, plus this in the range would give some sweet bonuses if they all stacked.

And as usual on a new bard instrument, the "0.00 percent to bardsong" is probably because they just don't KNOW what the percent is yet. This is an amazing instrument, and if it does add to drumsongs it will be even more incredible.
