#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 12 2004 at 5:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Honestly, why do you care? You are a necro. For casters encounters are more the reason to play not so much the gear. As an enchanter I went to about 60 totally nekkid. A bigger mana pool, more hp, and ac isn't really going to effect your playing all that much. Being nekkid sorta does though, you don't need to be uber but at least partially decent. This guy is more of a drive by for the smaller guilds to get specific temporary enhancements for their tank classes. Course if you really wanna farm this level of play for 10 years I strongly suggest you bid/roll for it. This is temporary gear for tanks/pullers so they can handle the bigger fish. At which point if gear is all you are concerned about then those tanks/pullers will allow better options.

I must say a minor upgrade for any plate or chain class but major ac for a monk.

I see you haven't played a plate or chain class. I have had the same char as my main for over 2 years, a lvl 65 rogue. this would be a huge upgrade to my Thurg arms. This would be a huge upgrade for most of my guildmates. We are a fairly decent guild, but not everyone can afford a full suit of ornate. Most melee who are not in uber guilds would find this an upgrade and well worth the point to own. Points take a long time to earn and spend quickly, you may only see a major upgrade once a month or more and could wind up wearing this for a very long time.

O i so hate people who seem to think stuff like this grows on trees. i say this cuse you seem to think this is not a major upgrade for rangers, hmm 55 ranger here im wearing crystil chitin 18 ac 5 str and sta 10 hp woopee! and to let ya know iv grouped in seru farming partys befor so with lots of hard work and many hours i could maby one day ever see somin like this. however its pritty sad iv had my ranger for 3 years hes my main and im only lvl 55, i play 24/7 to make it even worse, its so funny im prolly the worst ranger ever lol!

"all/all" means...

Honestly think about it, any class could make an argument for needing this. IMO hybrids would benefit the most, but any class would do well with this item. Other guilds have different raid systems, but our guild would let any "all/all" item that could benefit anyone, be rolled on by everyone present.

Any of you who said that x class could benefit from this, you're right, because all can. Any who said that x class doesn't deserve it because y class needs it more, well, it really depends on what that person has equipped. I believe that anyone who can honestly say this item is better than what they're currently wearing and contributied to Seru's death derves to roll on it. But maybe that's just me.

Nice!
# Sep 05 2002 at 10:33 PM Rating: Default
Your talkin about wasting one stat out of the many on this. Warriors should be just as considered for this for the simple reason that str is usually maxed or forgotten at ooohh 190 because in 99% of there situations STR buffs are available. 100hps..uber. 20agi? great. Tanks need AGI for ...AC/gettin hit less. 20dex? make that SoD proc alittle more. thats if any warriors need it. But hey...who am i to say a monk wouldnt end up with it. Either way id say Grats! and its not that bad even at seru lvl. Lots of people out there could use it at that point in there gamin career. personally tho..id wouldnt want it in an int casters hands lol. Melee all the way whether warrior or hybrid

any guild taking down Seru is most likely on a point system so it's up to the player to decide whether it's worth spending their points on. I wouldn't see many warriors spending their points on this since there are arm pieces that are better suited for them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 05 2002 at 1:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ha.. your all wrong, this is obviously an enchanter item. =P
Chances
# Sep 05 2002 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
If you are in a guild that can kill this guy, you will more than likely do it more than once.

Therefor, if you didnt have better than these you would probably have a shot at them at one point or another -)
RE: Chances
# Sep 05 2002 at 4:09 PM Rating: Good
True, and once upon a time you had to be in the best guild on the server to do NToV. Now? There are a lot of midsized guilds doing NToV and testing halls. Doing statue/Tomax is a thing of timing more than being uber. After a few more expansions...if anyone is still doing Seru it probably won't be the big guilds. You'll probably see medium sized guilds doing Vex Thal in a year or so, after all the big guilds "solve" Vex Thal and teach the rest of us how to do it (or stop fighting over access). It's just a matter of time and putting effort into working up to doing anything in EQ. The question is: do you have the resolve to stick to it, the brains to glean the knowledge necessary to accomplish your task, and the social graces to convice enough people to assist you in doing what you want? (anything worthwhile takes a least a few people. Besides, also gives you someone to brag to :)

p.s. I don't think this is a warrior item, there are better sleaves out there and if your doing Seru you can take down any mob outside of Vex Thal. I'm all in favor of hybrids because they seem to have less chances at items that increase their casting and melee capabilities. Not to say that I wouldn't consider a warrior or caster, but like every other peice of gear in the game, it would be a case by case argument. Arguing this is a "fill in the blank" class item helps to point out the strengths of an item, but realy its much more important that it goes to the right person who needs it and helps everybody out that they have the item. Not that the lucky person is actualy of a certain class. I'd hope that raid leaders take into consideration who their dealing with, not what classes.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 07 2002 at 5:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Brains, resolve, yadda yadda - that's all well and good. The route to killing a mob like Seru on the Morelle Thule server, is currently to just quit whatever guild you've been in for 2 years and join one of the two biggest on the server and gravy train your way into Vex Thal and so forth without doing any real work, just another face in the crowd.
hybrid gold
# Sep 05 2002 at 12:49 PM Rating: Decent
I look at this item and see Ranger, or any other hybrid class, written all over it. while it is a great item for a warrior the 100 mana is wasted on them. Frankly i think the whole discussion is pointless since I and about 99.5% of all the people posting here or playing EQ would but a pile of bone and blood if we even tried to slap Mr. Seru. With our silly minor league guilds we have no chance of even breeching the doors of his palace, but one can dream. : )

Well..
# Sep 05 2002 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
As a Warrior I would love these, but as a beastlord I would sell my own warder! This single piece has the stast that any hybrid would just about die for.

But the sidcussion about who should get it is silly. ITs all/all and the items on this dude will be distributed or specifically hunted for. (I.e. "You need a Cleric to go with you? Ok but I wnat this when we kill him".) So the argument is just a wast of bandwidth really.
Rangers Too

I think Rangers could use this piece nicely too though. 20 DEX in my arms would be quite rather nice for archery since that's all we do later on ;)

They are all/all, but so what. At the stage of the game you get them they should go to the person who would benefit the guild the most. If a warrior gets it to keep him alive longer in tough battles then great. If it goes to a wizard to keep him alive and mana burn more effectively then so be it. If it goes to a druid so he can look cool at the expense of the rest of the guild then somebody saved up alot of DKP or Seru has been guild fodder for a while. All/All just means you can wear it, but not that you deserve to.

Rollen
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 05 2002 at 5:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Class this would most likely go to, in most situations, would be warrior. After that it could go to anyone.
ALL/ALL
# Sep 05 2002 at 5:04 AM Rating: Default
Are you people on crack??? Why would you say one specific race/class should get this over another?? ALL/ALL menas just that. If your even in a group that goes after this guy and some little s**tstain say that you can't roll on it, that person should be hunted down and be beat down. I for one would give up all my stuff for this one piece. I can always get more later. Nuf said...

# Sep 05 2002 at 7:00 AM Rating: Default
Due to the fact that only the top guilds can take this guy down, it will mostlikely not be rolled for, it will either be given to a member by an officer, or they will use point system to give it out, and in most cases it would be a warrior.
RE: ALL/ALL
# Sep 05 2002 at 7:29 AM Rating: Decent
One factor here that separates the high guild people from the 33rd season people is that we would understand that some classes wont get this over a warrior. I'd say Warrior then Monk. Maybe a Pally/Sk cause of the Mana instead of a monk.

# May 24 2003 at 6:26 AM Rating: Decent
Bro, warrior by time they take seru have way better same with most the pally/sk. Leaving monks, bst, ranja, and bard looking for this first and then other casters/priests but they probably got better items geared for their class, ie ft or focus effects. And most war, sk, or pally wouldn't spend their points on a inferior item when they could use on a better few raids later. Cause if you can't max your agi with shaman buffs and chanters high lv haste you suck as a war, after all people here we talking probably whole raid is 65 and slew of aa.
look

The look is matte black plate. If you know what black iron or black alloy stuff looks like, this is pretty similar--Darkforge is also the same kind of look.

Monk item? MONK item? ***** that!

I say ROGUE item all the way! Yeah... hehe... ROGUES!
RE: Heheh...
# Sep 05 2002 at 12:57 AM Rating: Default
I'll say give it to the rangers. They need the AC and all the stats on this thing.

Pally, SK and BL would be next in line.... Well maybe Bards too..
RE: Heheh...
# Sep 05 2002 at 7:24 AM Rating: Decent
ahhh at least someone with a brain...
good to see something can be given to a ranger.

think about the following : yes the stats are really appropriate for a ranger.

of course a warrior would be happy with such but... if a guild can get that - then there is a lot of more items a warrior would have instead of this item. and those items won't fill the needs of hybrid classes like this one. so yes for once... maybe a ranger should get it above a warrior.

for the weight... monks are also concerned (but they are claiming all items every time already).

dex and resists means a ranger can use his bow with serious dmg. AC and agi means a ranger can melee a bit, especially when he is soloing.
