This has to be one of the coolest items I have ever seen. I am an erudite, and when I wear the helm it is the same color as whatever gloves I am wearing. I always thought the helm was green, because when I got it I was wearing RFV gloves. However, I just got the thurgadin quest gloves; when I put on the new gloves, the helm turned tan! I decided to try a few more gloves, and sure enough the helm changed colors every time I changed gloves. This is quite convenient! No matter what, the FFH will always match the color of your gloves.
BTW I waited for the druid in LFay to spawn for 5-6 hours a day for over a week with no luck. She finally spawned when the server came back up after a patch. I logged in and there she was, right where these boards say she is.
I'm not sure what server you play on, or whether this affects other servers, but on 7th Hammer, erudite helm color is affected by your glove color.
Example 1: When I was level 4, I was given a Bronze Helm and a pair of Soft Wicker Gloves. Imagine my delight when my helm was green to match my gloves, very cool.
Example 2: In NRo, I was hunting, and a member of my group, a twinked erudite Shadow Knight, gave me a flayed skin cap. I put it on, and it appeared black (matching my Blackened Alloy Gaunlets).
Example 3: I bought a Skull Shaped Barbute while hunting Treants in South Karana. Still had Blackened Alloy Gauntlets, and surprise surprise, my shiny Barbute was *gasp* black.
Example 4: I wear a Sentient Helm, and a pair of Royal Frosted Velium Gauntlets. My helm appears dark dark green (almost black).
I've emailed GMs about it, and customer service, but no luck. Erudites will never be able to have clashing helmet / gauntlet colors...*sigh*
Erudites are superior in intelect, manners, and fashion =P Everyone knows your helm and gloves have to match ;) ... but with the new luclin models my koad dal gloves are like blue with yellow stripes and does not change the apearance of my helm

It's not all that good and look at all these people talk about it like it's some kind of helm only handed out by the gods to certain people. I don't play a cleric, but I would rather have a cleric behind me than another healer type, but when their equiptment blows, who's going to make one?
I'm not certain what the guy was smoking at the time he reported it, but this helm does not drop off Muglwump, it's been about a week, and I've seen all of his drops, multiple times, but no cleric helm, at least my necro can right click the SK helm he droped though ;) so not a total loss ah well I'll keep hunting the warrens with my cleric, and killing the tad off when ever he spawns(sometimes as much as 2 hour 40 min ugh), usually there's someone around who can use one of his drops :)

...I went through so much work getting this helm via the quest....I made a camping druid and everything...the ONLY thing that makes this a little less hard is that only someone of the proper level can EARN one...I will take that

I thought I had something special and rare on my head, now any chump can pick one up. Thanks, Verant.
I certainly frikken' hope it doesn't drop off the Muglwump, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The quest is bloody hard, and rightfully so -- it's a damn good item -- I'm now 3/4s the way through it (just need to get Kalayia to spawn somehow), and I would be seriously pissed off if some n00bie can ninjaloot it off a mob that has been green to everyone who's actually within the level range of completing the REAL quest for quite some time now.
I'm hoping that this was just a mistake when someone picked up the SK helm from Muglwump and then saw this helm on eqmaps or something, and assumed that it must be the same one because it's got the same icon, they both have a rightclick effect, and they both drop in the evil part of Odus.
Finally, and possibly even helpful rather than just me ranting: as far as Obretl is concerned, I remember recently checking what Sern Adolia tells you when you ask him "what charred bone chips" -- it's a bit of lore about how Obretl was an Erudite sent to kill Ortallius and his foster parent whatsisname (the dude that spawns behind him in the hut), but failed, so Solusek kicked his ***. My point being, perhaps ganking Ortallius would help get Obretl to pop?
I tried this today, killed Ob's PH, ran back to Ort, killed him (didn't try his the other guy, he conned red to me), ran back to the temple, and lo and behold, a PH spawned. Nevertheless, about and hour and a half after that, Obretl spawned and I am now the proud owner of some charred bone chips. Coincidence? Quite probably, but there's always a chance that killing Ortallius (who is mentioned when you get the quest in Paineel) will help Ob to pop. Ort's a level 30 pally by the way, so it's nothing too tricky by the time you're ready to take on the 'big three' quests from Paineel. Plus, even if it doesn't help, it's something to do while waiting for a repop.
This healm does not drop randomly. It's a quest healm involving killing level 20 and 30+ creatures and bringing back their parts.
Used to not be able to be performed by good clerics without undue difficulty, now with the Warrens, all I do now is slaughter greens and raise my faction so I can turn in all the parts.
I would like to note that while this is an EVIL clerics quest, good clerics can accomplish it. You just have to /wave goodbye to your Erudin faction when you kill all those tall-head guards to get your faction with the Heretics up high enough to do these quests. =D

Unfortunately this seems to be another sign of Verant slacking off. Everybody else complains about equality between classes, what about equality within the same class?
Well, have you considered that maybe Verant would like to give some new player a reason to create something other than the cookie-cutter HIE or DE cleric? It's called an incentive. So all of the Elven clerics that like to look down (up?) their noses at me, nyahhhhhhh! I finally get a great item you can't have! =D
"Cookie Cutter" DE? Get over yourself. DE clerics are hard as hell to play and we only have crappy necklace quests. The rest of the cleric quests are aimed directly at 'good' clerics, so if I want to do the quests I have 2 choices. 1: No more going to Neriak, ever, because I would have to ***** my faction so bad to do most of the quests I'd be KoS in my own city. Or 2: Get one of the required items to initiate the quest, turn it in, DIE, recover body to find the next quest item, lather, rinse, repeat, LOSE LEVELS. You better know what you are talking about before you blanket flame every cleric with the word 'elf' in the race slot. Dark Elf Cleric may as well stand for Don't Even Consider questing. Look at the quest by class section. Look at where the quests are. I can't set foot in most of those places.
"cookie-cutter" doesn't mean "easy-to-play" it merely means there are ALOT fo them and on druzzil there is DEFINATELY a larger pile of DE cleric than good/evil eru clerics piled together (even though the DE's are much shorter- im thinkin has to do witht hat smurf blood)
If you look where this comes from...this is an EVIL quest...High Elves and Dwarves CAN NOT be "EVIL" Clerics....no sense in giving them an EVIL helm....
did you know that human and erudite clerics are the ONLY clerics that DONT have a vision enhancement (aka infravision or ultravision) and clerics dont get any spells, so this fits in nicely. besides, paineel is an evil city, i'd love to see a dorf or hielf try to get in there and do the quest...
Another salvation to your darkness issue - Glowing Stone Band from Sol A, check it out and praise my name.. Also there is a Mithril Ring that does the same.
ok, you have 2 slots to fill, finger and head, there's a few combo's you can use to get this done, aside from giving infra vis, the ring from sol a has pretty crappy stats(ac2 I believe?) you'd be better off all around using this as a helm, and a velium or plat fire ring, or a ring that gives wis, also note that dead eye grants see invis
what's my cleric use? glowing stone band :p cause this helm, after a week of killing, does NOT drop off Muglwump, I'm going to need to do the pain in the *** quest.. gunna need a few more levels on the cleric first however :)
That's because she's triggered and it hard to trigger her.
I've gotten the tears once from a friend of mine who was able to hail her and did some item swaping. Here's the ruff part. I ran into her alone at level 20, she either spawns from all the DE getting slaughtered or the is a counter spawn for the Unicorn or something. Because it does seem that she is a triggered spawn or something.
Maybe you need to kill all the brownies or kill the Unicorn.
Here's the plan, heard she spawns around the 3 sisters and the DE camp, take a full party that agrees to camp the forest and slaughter everything. I personally think that she spawns as part of the injustice of killing the Unicorn, also I've seen 2 unicorns in the woods, the named one and the Tortured Unicorn, so I dunno wich one.. Maybe you kill the Tortured and get a dropped item that you turn into the Druid that spawns and then gives you the tears.. That way a good cleric can get the item and not hurt faction.
Dunno, if you have any info email me at grimtooth1@hotmail.com
