Very rare. Got one Stonefish in about 75 tries. Loc -766 -681 at the South East lake.
I got my first one with fishing skill in the 30's, but they were hard to come by at that level. Mostly still got fresh fish or junk. As fishing went up, they became easier to catch. Someone needs to research trivials for all the fish in the game. I haven't seen a list of them anywhere in all the years I've been playing EQ. A trivial list for foraged items would also come in handy.

They are common or i should say they are if your fishing skill is high enough, stood next to Mr Ogrebane caught 10 stonefish, 7 fresh fish and 3 scales with one stack of bait using fisherman's companion, catch-a-lot bait and a 190 skill..have the same success with thunder Salmon in NK ande EK..it pays to skill up fishing
