Warrior Won
# Nov 21 2003 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
My warrior won this the other night. All the alliance rangers on the raid had equal to or better so it went to other melees. I was the lucky winner.

Fight was easier than I expected, but long.

OKay Everyone is drooling over these items i want this, this is so great, Can i get info on the fight like how hard he hits, what his max hit, any procs, ect? It would be great if i could thanks!

Hmm ..., well, you could try and click the Lord Inquisitor Seru link at the top right of the page to get into about the mob that drops this, for this is a page to discuss the item as such. Drop info is listed, just follow the link.

I'm afraid he wouldn't find much info on the Lord Inquisitor seru page either. Just a bunch of posts about his loot is all. Very disapoionting.

Not to shabby
# May 21 2003 at 6:18 AM Rating: Decent
If I grabbed this bow, depending on DKP points it cost me I would more than gladly put the 100 HP and the 10 to all saves in my range spot. As a warrior 100 HP and those saves help a ton.

Also 10 STA equals around 60 something more HP so we are talking at least for me at lvl 65 160 or so HP.
Not to shabby.

Of coarse if a Ranger needs it, its his.
RE: Not to shabby
# Jul 29 2003 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
thank you for acknowledging that a ranger would need the bow more than a warrior, to many warriors say they need it for the hp. i would never take a melee weapon over a warrior, so why should a warrior take a bow over a ranger. once again, thank you for being a wise warrior.

Fiction: An Ogre Warrior, High Elf Paladin, Dark Elf Shadow Knight, Halfling Rogue and a Wood Elf Ranger once long ago had an archery contest mediated by an Erudite Wizard. The prize was the Bow of Storms...
The Warrior was scratching his behind while looking through the hole in the coin thrown in the air by the Wizard. The Paladin and Shadowknight were bleeding to death from the arrows they had shot into eachother's heart. The Rogue was running away with the bow and the coin purse he had cut from the Wizard's belt. The Ranger was drawing a bead on the back of the running Rogue who underestimated the speed and skill of a Ranger and his bow...

I would ***** slap anybody for even beginning to generate the electrical impulse to jump across their demented synaptic circuits and say anything about anyone OTHER then a ranger getting this item. You want a cutsy wootsy stat item in your range slot? Then go get one, this is a BOW, and should only be judged with that in mind. Rangers are the masters of archery hands down. End of discussion. A ranger in your guild with this bow would make all the diffrence in the world of the outcome of the battle. Give it to any other class. And all you have done is waste an item that could have helped you go get those nice range items with stats.

Anyone who has anything to say in disagreement with me, please...by all means, interject here and display your primative mind for all to see.

"Well guys, i'd love to help get us out of this mess you got us into...but some dumbass gave the uber bow to a tank."

This bow rocks!
# Mar 16 2003 at 11:48 PM Rating: Good
I aquired this bow about 2 weeks ago, and let me tell you, this bow is awsome! I am a 63 AM1/EQ ranger, have crit for up to 680, none TS. It is by far one of the best in game and I agree, this should most deffinately go to a ranger before any other class.

For any ranger that is able to access either Tactics or HoH, try soloing there sometime. It will take up to 15 minutes to kill a mob, but if you cant find a group or Chanter to duo with, at least you can rely on your handy-dandy bow skills.

BTW, for all those other classes complaining about Rangers being to 'UBER' with their archery damage, think of it as a means to an end. The more DPS you have on a raid, the more chance you have of defeating those upper end mobs.

I can not believe that other classes have complained about rangers doing to much damage without getting agro off mobs <points at Wizards> Thanks guys, we're getting nerfed soon. Way to hinder your guilds even more.

Well I didnt come here to flame, although I am a little pieved atm. GL all and I hope all you rangers out there get one of these sometime.

HAHAH this guy made me laugh... I use my bows quite a bit. I is not uncommon for me to do 40k+ damage during the 2 minutes of trueshot on mega HP low AC mobs such as blob in VT. Next time, learn what a ranger can do before you make poor assumptions.

This one has GOT to be a tease, right? I mean, the lights are flashing, the gates are down, but the train just ain't coming......

Mid-50's Rangers are commonly known to be crit hitting for well over 1,000. By kicking in all the disc/endless quiver/archery mastery elements I have seen a Ranger inflict more than 10,000 dmg in two minutes and have heard ( but not substantiated) that the record is closer to 17,000 !

In the same way that the best of high AC items has gotta land on the tanks, you'd be crippling your guild / group mates if these sorts of bows were NOT used by the foremost rank of your archers.

P.S. Go take a look at the post "Answers to questions" on this thread https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=6002

From a much more experience Ranger than myself, it provides some estimates that seem to say that a Ranger *could* hit 90,000 damage in 2 minutes !

First I want to say I play a tweaked but not Ubber Ranger. At 56 I hit for regularly at about 300 points(Thats average folks). I have hit for as little as 2 points and as much as 750.

The Main reason i have responed to this thread is the comment about mid 50s and AA's. Aedhmor is wrong about the damage done and when you can get the AA's. At 56 if I could get AM3 and EQ I would personally swap all EXP to AA's until i had both. You dont get AM3 and EQ till 59 (might aswell be 60 if your saying mid 50s).

That being said..... I have seen 59th level and 60th level Rangers deal massive damage when they had these AA's. I have personally have seen a 65th level ranger deal consistantly 2k damage shots back to back. Took him 3 shots to down a Hill Giant in Rathe( Was a truely awesome sight to see). He stood in the center of the hill and hit anything that moved.

I think you've got the right idea, but a few comments. Firstly, 10k damage over 2 minutes isn't really all that much damage. Neither is 17k. Hell, I parsed about 8k damage with my Ranger on the final boss mob of the Executioner Trials, and that fight lasted less than 30 seconds. My Ranger isn't uber, but she's got decent equipment. 10k is nothing. My other comment is concerning "mid-50's rangers are commonly known to be crit hitting for well over 1,000." Starting at around level 56, I had the Bow of the Silver Fang (35/42). That's about as high a damage bow as a mid-50's Ranger can expect, and the highest crit I obtained was 715 against Yelinak. Commonly hitting for over 1000 per crit during Trueshot at mid-50's is highly inflated.

Aloha and well met

I am far from being an uberly equipped ranger, but using proc'd avatar, SOS haste, and standard level 60 ranger buffies (Attack was at 1502 I think) I parsed about 21,000 during a Trueshot disc using AM3+EQ, Bow of Doom and champion arrows during a recent battle with the evil Lord Yelnick. another 13,000 or so during the remaining 3 minutes ('twas a long 5 minute fight for us as most of our rogues were out partying that night)

Every ranger dreams that someday she (or he) will be able to weild such a wonderful weapon. In the hands of a master ranger, this weapon would increase the DPS of the guild by a significant margin. In the arms of another class, it would be reduced to a pulling bow and a hp item. If you need hp items at this stage in the game, there are much easier to aquire, and superior in terms of raw hitpoints to achieve.

I know there are people who troll the boards seeking to incite anger in people for silly postings. I seek to restore some sanity to these threads.

As for the mob himself-- well he is perhaps on of the toughest Luclin encounters. The dificulty is compounded by the number of adds in the engagement and the requirement for bane weapons / procing weapons to maintain aggro. Sadly, no one on our server has yet to down him.

Happy travels and hunting

Ok guyz let me go ahead and take care of this one. Sorguran thats you name right? At level 51 rangers gain double damage on stationary targets that are not rooted. Later on we get the trueshot discipline which doubles damage again and with archtype AAXP we can train in archery mastery which again increases damage. I have heard of rangers hitting for 1k with a bow I myself have hit for 204 with a shissar bow. At 51 rangers should get back to work with the bow its a huge waste ifd they do not.

OK rangers, let me take care of THIS one...

Rangers can hit for a lot more than 1k, but so what. It's DPS that matters, crits are just ego-icing. Bow damage DPS doesn't match up to our melee DPS until you're way into the 60's with a good few AA's under your belt, so if you're using a bow at 51 for any other reason than skillups soloing, then you're wasting space.

This is to Shadowiey. Most of you can't see his post if you have the filters set to default as his post was reduced to AWFUL, an rightfully so because of the stupidity of his post. Let be copy an past if you you all if you did'nt see it.

"this should not go to a ranger! wtf are you on?
rangers blow ***** they are useless, monks can outdmg them and they have like no HP!"

he then posts this crap:
Q:What are rangers best at?
A:Dieing?
CORRECT!!!!

Hmmm.. you obviously have'nt done your homework Shadowiey, or you'd know that RANGERS have come a LONG way now. before Luclin an AA's were avaliable to us, all a ranger could do was max their archery to 240 an HOPE to one day earn a primal velium reinforced bow an that with a tolan's darkwood bracer, they could do great damage, but still not so much that they would stop meleeing all together. They had to use Trueshot disciplne which only lasts 2 minutes for it to really kick ***. Fact is, Archery up to that point was a broken skill cause you'd still miss to much to make archery WORTH being your main way to do damage as a ranger.

However, since Luclin came out. Skills like Archery Mastery an Endless Quiver CHANGED THAT!Now, so long as a ranger is 59, an has 6 AA's in general, an 12 in Arch type. They can earn 2 skills that takes Archery to a whole new level! with 18points in Archery Mastery3 an another 9 in Endless Quiver, the ranger is now the KING of Damage!!! They can only be matched or bettered by a Wizard, Mage or Druid. But heh, they run out of mana eventually, Mwhahaha! Were as a ranger with Endless Quiver does'nt! Now a Ranger in melee MIGHT gain aggro an get themselves killed. BUT.. using a Bow, archery is 0 aggro unless the Main tank dies an there is no one left to tank, then the ranger MIGHT be killed LOL! A Ranger can now stay far enough away from a mob that they dont take ANY DAMAGE at all, an at the same time they dont even gain aggro cause Bow shots are VERY LOW aggro! So a player that works to make their ranger a bow master...
Once they have 240 Archery + Archery Mastery 3 + Endless Quiver AND they use the Eagle Eye spell which is an Archery Accuracy Buff!!!! They Can OWN a MONK or a Rogue or a Warrior EASY, without using the Trueshot disciplne (so long as the rogue does'nt have that new AA rogue sneak called Shroad, THEN they are in big trouble)!!! The most UBER Ranger on my Server, Zebuxoruk, is Celt the leader of Dark Horizon!!! If Celt lands a snare on you, You'll be ASSRAPED with so many arrows an dead so fast you'll know what a true ranger can do!!! An yes, CELT has the Bow of Storms!!! Even then, Celt's armor an weapons alone is loot from Sleeper's Tomb, Ssra, Vex Thul an the PoP Planes now. he has close to 5k Hp if he has'nt reached 5k already, an like over 1400 attk, an this is unbuffed folks!!!

So why dont you go find a ranger that has archery mastery 3 an endless quiver Shadowiey, an then duel them. They dont NEED the Doombow from DoomShade or even the Bow of Storms from Seru to beat you, an they DONT need lvl 65 either. Lvl 59 an up is enough if they have the AA skills. A nightmarewood bow or Blessed Faydark Thunderbolt is more then enough to spank a Monk into submission.

This would not go to a warrior, no freaking way....

I won't even say IF, I know it would not, unless there was no ranger present to wield I think, the or one of the best bows in the game.

Think AM3 and EQ all =) can you say crits for 1500+ easy and regular crits non TS for over 1000 easy...
One Drawback
# Aug 26 2002 at 11:21 AM Rating: Default
One drawback to this bow is that Careless Lightning is a DD spell. That can break root if you're rootin' and shootin'. I've got a Bow of the Huntsman and have the same problem while soloing.

# Aug 24 2002 at 9:21 PM Rating: Default
I whole heartedly beleive in any class that would use it rolling. But I'd practically die if a non ranger got this... if a guild knows enough to take down Seru, then they know well enough that a ranger in their guild would be far more effective with this then any of the other classes listed. With AM3, Trueshot, and EQ, a ranger would be beyond deadly with this.
Wow...

OMG /drool

Ok, now that that's done with... maybe someday I will get in on a Seru hit... unlikely, but possible. So there does exist the remote chance that I someday could obtain this bow. Oh, fond dreams....

The stats really are fantastic for anyone, however, at the level of play you must be at to even see this bow, your tanks will already have priceless or primal bows.

So now, this bow is viewed by it's damage/Delay and proc. Since a ranger does and would spend more time twanging away at a mob, most meleers and tanks would probably let them have it.

Note: Most, not all.

And, as another poster said, at this level of play, things aren't rolled on.
RE: Stats
# Aug 24 2002 at 9:22 PM Rating: Decent
In non raid situations this would be very handy for a warrior as a pulling weapon...putting several arrows in their hide makes them angry before you ever reach the group. I play on a server where there are no Rangers on my team. This bow would more than likely automatically go to a warrior since SK bow skill maxes at 75 I think and rogues do better to use throwing items if they want ranged attack. And it would not be rolled on.

Any non-ranger class would use this for pulling, and that is really it. A Ranger would use this bow for Trueshot if they had Archery Mastery (which is highly likely if you are taking out Seru), they would actually use this bow over normal melee whenever possible; it would outdamage almost any other combination of melee weapons with AM1 alone.
Should be ranger only.

Heh just try killin the ******* that drops it. And even though I'd allow a ranger to take it before a shadow knight, like myself, in a raid, I'd probably be a **** and roll on it anyways just because it is a beautiful piece. Oh yeah, and btw the quest it takes to make weapons that can kill Seru will take months for the amount of people you'd need to take him out.

But good luck anyways,

Anyone who can kill Seru dosn't roll on anything.

Edit: Oh yeah, I believe Afterlife took out Seru once with 2 seru bane weapons and a whole bunch of proccing weapons just for S&G so you don't NEED the bane weapons to win. But, we all can't be Afterlife.

SK's and Pali's would end up behind warriors in getting this, but if you have the numbers to take out Seru, considering the loot he drops, he's worth doing again and again. As an SK, I would wait my turn to get one, but I know the rangers and warriors could use it far better, hence they get priority on looting.

Anybody on the CLASS: list has legitimate use for this bow. 100hp is 100hp, though rangers can best use the damage of it, all the classes can use the stats on it.
RE: Pinch me.
# Sep 30 2002 at 1:12 AM Rating: Default
ok, just a question Lithledana... was this bow awarded to the ranger's of Afterlife when it dropped? Or were the warriors, rogues etc.. allowed to "roll" on this? Another question... why is your dex at 255?

here's my opinion. rangers with AM3 and EQ probably only melee to get their primal's to proc. After that, they pluck away with their bow. They may not even worry about avatar. Anyway, a ranger with this bow, AM3, EQ, 255dex (with an 11+[not sure what the best arrow is] damage arrow) will probably do somewhere between 400-600 dps with this bow, if not more. So heres another question... Why would you give a rather low stat increasing range slot to a warrior when you are taking the best primary weapon away from a ranger? Might as well start handing out crystallized serpent eyes to the rogues...
RE: Pinch me.
# Sep 05 2002 at 7:58 AM Rating: Default
I agree, anyone listed on the class list does have a legitimate reason to want/use this bow.

As you also stated, which class in the guild should the bow goto that would benefit the guild most...I would have to say that this bow would benefit any guild the most if it were in the hands of a ranger.

I did a listing of items that go in the range slot rated according to HP and there are 13 other items that can go in the range slot that have at least +100hp (up to 125hp). [any race/class combo].

I then did a listing of items that can go in the range slot that rangers can use based on dmg/dly ratio (a.k.a. a bow). As everyone can guess, this bow (bow of storms) was at the top of the list.

The point here is that there are several other items that a guild can get (especially if they're able to kill this mob) that go in the range slot that have at least 100hp; but, there is no better ratio'd item (bow) in the game for rangers.

So, I would assume that unless all the rangers in the guild at the raid who took this mob down had one of these bows, that it would not goto any other class.

100hp is 100hp, but it would not make any sense to me to see this bow going to any other class before all your rangers had one based on the fact that this weapon benefits the guild the most in the hands of a ranger.
