I saw on allahakazam that it was truesight once, a long time ago, think that it was nerfed ages ago to see invis instead of truesight, unless there is a continuation of quest /shrug
I have been out of the game for a little over a year now, and was wondering if there is any word on the quest continueing. This is actually a decent neck slot item with a cool story line. Decent being NON-Planes gear that is.
Snuck into the caves and harmonied and killed my way to Barducks. Killed everything in the caves and then kited him til he died. Rushed back to Jagged Pine to await the start. By myself I proceded to use entrap to snare every gnoll that came close to the buildings. At one time the train of Gnolls was truely amazing. I kept running in and around the buildings snaring everything as the train grew and grew. Entrap lasts a good long time, never had it wear off before on a kite. Hadn't formulated any plan really, when all of sudden all the gnolls despawned. You dont have to kill them, you just have to delay them. One decent kiter can keep the town alive. Ranger+Soe+Entrap>Gnoll Invasion.
I finished this quest this past weekend. It's a cakewalk for a druid, at least on over level 60. I invised/harmonied my way into Barduck's cave, killed a few of his followers around him and harmonied the others. I then pulled him along the left hand wall in his lair. I root/dotted him down there. He breaks root fairly easy but not enough to be a major pain. Looted his head and gated out. Waited a few hours to go back and turned everything in.
BTW if you lose the gnoll war and seargent dies, No biggie, simply redo the pate part and all is well, when its time to spawn barducks A> you already have his head b> you can do combine and hand it in after the seargent repops
Completed this entire quest (all badges) tonight on Veeshan, had no problems at all, sergeant returned marked badge w/o any trouble and gave me nobility after I turned in barducks head and writ.
The Quest is now broken and not working correctly! I initiated everything up to giving the Dryad Pate and when I had given the Badge of Honor to Sergeant Caelin he did not return the Marked Badge of Honor ... I petitioned and the wonderful Brioma saved the day again by returning my original Badge of Honor .
She said the Quest has been broken for a few weeks at least and that they have been sending reports to SOE. So, unless you see a Patch message that this has been fixxed DO NOT attempt this Quest
Has anyone on Ayonae Ro successfully done this Quest since my post? I really want to complete this, but would not be at all happy if I had to /petition again, hehehe
Killed Barducks last night. 53 paladin, 55 druid, 62 shaman.
We hustled to the outpost to watch the invasion. Looked like the gnolls came from the cave, not sure if any spawned closer to the town. It seems after they kill one of the NPCs, "a gnoll" spawns in that NPCs place. The Lady Deira was either not attacked or defended herself easily. She was up at the same time the gnolls had taken the banker / merchant / other NPC spots.
Killing those gnolls yielded coin but no other loot. I suspect you have to kill the gnolls that actually run from the cave to the outpost in order to find the no-rent loot mentioned.
Can kill Starbucks by moving with invis all the way into his room. Had a group of 4 X 54+ with chanter and snare/rooters. Immediately as you enter room turn right and hold to area on that wall not far from entrance.
Can now start pulling mobs leading up to him one at a time can snare than root/rot them or have melee move in to make it go a bit quicker. When 3 mobs leading up to him are done snare pull him to back wall as well. He's bit tougher to keep rooted and may want melees to engage some though he puts out serious damage. Not sure if he can be slowed?
He also dropped SaberTooth 1hs fair weapon good dmg/dly ratio but no stats (
All of this can be done without ever leaving the room he's in. Have done this about 3 times now to help others get their badges.
**Btw may want to send out a zone shout just prior to killing him as it triggers an event ! The local population of JaggedPine will come under attack from marauding gnolls and unless players interfere the village will be wiped out including all merchants and other NPC's there.
I killed him by pulling him outside and root rotting him. The total damage was 28,868 pts. 12 roots (190), 11 WD (1287), 12 Drones (340), 5 Wrath of Natures (1650), and 3 scim hits (43,27,31). No clarity and 30% mana when he dropped. I think that he has excellent regen and not really almost 29k hps. His max hit was 229. He is most certainly a harder kill that Disturbed Elysians. They are dead before the 3rd wrath is finished.
Invis up and make your way thru the tunnels. Casters see thru invis, but melee do not. When you find Barducks, get next to the wall and away from his buddies. Root, snare, then invis and wait for him to follow you on your leash. Once you have him outside just remember to snare him often and take your time. Wolf form helps with the NPCs outside.
I tried this with my 56 mage, can solo everything up to the qeynos catacombs part. I died twice in that dump. Maybe I just suck. Be ok if was just one, but have to fight three at once, and if wait too long they summon pets.. ugh.
cleric, wiz and warrior had no trouble at all down there.
Killed Barducks tonight with 61st druid/59 monk. Do not let this guy hit you unless there's a shaman and cleric medding around you and you are wearing plate. That being said:
If you pre-clear the area around him (only about 5 or 6 spawns) then you can agro kite him and let your monk friend trail along behind, FDing if he gets agro. Agro-kiting works well with a rogue too. Rogue can evade for agro redux, as well. Remember, mana-free dots are your friend, and the spell Flame Lick occupies Barducks' full attention when you spam cast it at him :) Seems to have a 24 hour spawn time after the time of death.
yes, easily if you can manage to pull him... i've took him down being a bard 48 grouped with a 48 ranger, but trust me, if your group is small take a bard... 15khp is way to much for a caster and even a single 65 war would die without the help of some other support class...
I took him out(level 55 bard) with only the help of a level 54 cleric. The cleric rooted it, while I twisted Chant of Flame, Chant of Frost, Chant of Poison, and Largo's Absonant Binding(safety net). Charmed any adds and let Bardok mincemeat them. Took about 10 minutes to kill him in this way.
Um, big thing about epics: You can't do alot of the major turn ins till you're lvl 50... In order to MQ, that's alot of frickin turn ins, and ones not questable to a lvl 30... Where's your dose of reality???
And alot of epics can be MQ'd...look at the druid epic...HUGE parts of that can be MQ'd...it's not enough that our epics are the easiest to get, but with the way the quest goes, we don't even have to do them

(Read after the post after this...) Older and *cough* wiser now...got almost all of the quests done, just the gnoll here to go. But oh my gosh Semajecap, could you be more right? The SK mobs were quite painful to sit through talking (had to do it a few times, since I *cough* killed the investigator the first time (it was a mistarget really!).
People who plan on doing the second...take a nice long book with you!
ive done 1st through 4th badge 4 or 5 times in the last 2 weeks for various people. nothing is broken....but the NPCs in SK talk WAYYYYYY too slowly. takes about 15 minutes to get to the SKs.
When you kill the Gnoll : [Wed Sep 04 18:46:00 2002] Barducks Darkpaw's corpse shouts 'A curse upon you pitiful manlings! Avenge me my brothers and raze their pathetic settlement! Ruin their land as they've ruined ours!'
When you hand to sergeant the closed bag and the marked QboH : [Wed Sep 04 18:51:02 2002] Sergeant Caelin says 'A job well done! Perhaps now that will throw the gnolls into disarray and show them that we are not to be trifled with! The people of Qeynos and it’s surrounding territories are in a great debt to you. You have proved time and again your willingness to take great risks to protect those who can’t protect themselves. I am hereby empowered to grant to you an honorary rank of nobility. Take this badge and were it proudly.'
Few minutes later : [Wed Sep 04 18:52:50 2002] The sound of war drums echo through the forest and a rough inhuman voice calls out a war cry. 'Brothers, now is the time of our revenge! Destroy the human settlement and claim it as our own! For Barducks and clan Darkpaw!'
And 10/15 mobs named : A gnoll rush the sergeant/banker, shops and kill all. I was alone so I've not tried to kill the gnoll. If anyone know if there is something to do, plz tell :)
thats the start of the next and final one, which isn't in just yet. and from what i know you have to kill the gnoll and keep those guys alive. if they die you have to start from 1 all over again. and if i'm correct the mob is level 60 even, then final turn in guy will be in PoK and will miss his home on qeynos.
I seriously doubt what you say : it is possible imo to stop the invasion, but there is no way gnolls con even to a lvl 60, been in JP long enought to see at least 25 invasions, each time the invaders were dark blue to me and they still are at 58. Also if you could link a (serious) site that gives infos on a next badge, it would be better than "somebody stated that someone told his friend about a possible next badge" :oP
Woot! These quests are great. I was get'n excited about finally being high enough to acquire my Qeynos Badge Of Honor...now I REALLY have something to look forward to.
On another note...I'm glad to see the folks over at Verant are finally get'n their act together. I've been playing for almost 3 years now and was about to quit...but over the past month or 2 EQ has been get'n better and better. The new UI...jaggedpine(great zone, especially for us 'droods')...the bazaar...and the compass that went in a couple days ago...and now another badge...weee i'm have'n a ball =)
Just a little note, I soloed the gnoll in the cave for the quest. He has approx 20k hps and it took me about 10 mins to kill him using root/dot/epic/Tov bracer. He only managed to hit me once for 195 so I assume he's pretty nasty, dropped the head and a sabertooth 16/29 1hs. Fairly easy if you're a 60 druid with epic.
I have done each part of this quest as soon as I found the next part implemented, and I must say that I am loving it. The storyline is rich and believable (for EQ), the characters unique, and who can beat a game of Rat Reversi?
Every time I complete a portion of this quest, the storyline gets added to a running story for the entire quest. Each time I read it through, the more convinced I become that this could potentially end in a high end epic battle with Kane Bayle and his Corrupt Guards. What a fitting end to this quest! Every step you take Kane is implicated in some fashion. Every person or thing you kill takes you one step closer to solving the entire mystery.
Many thought that the Plague of the Karanas was the end, but how could it be? We learned about Azibelle (lovely little fight, hehe) and took her down, but we never really solved the case, so to speak. I, for one, hope that this is taken out to the only logical conclusion, the death of Kane Bayle. I can see it now...
Soandso shouts, "Warning, preparing for 10th Badge Quest. If you are under level 50 we recommend leaving, and will provide ports to those who choose to do so" Soandso2 shouts, "Wow! The 10th Badge war!"
This guy is a timed spawn. I was checking on him daily, and he would always pop 24 hours after he was killed. I timed the spawn, and logged in just in time to see him pop. I had a few guildies come join me and we took him down. Was not an easy fight, he hits for 200-250 VERY fast. Don't know if he's slowable, we didn't have a shaman/chanter, but that would have helped a lot.
I have a WW amulet, but I do these quests nevertheless a) because maybe badge # 10 once it hits the servers will rock, definitely, and b) because the quests are REALLY nice! Best scripted quests I've seen so far, anyone know anything better? I mean, punching investigators! Rat Reversi! It's funny, it's nice! It's a game!
