i got one of these in JP after only killing maybe 10 of these things. JP is flat out the best soloing ground for rangers 49+. Nothing aggroes you while you root/snare/DoT/plink with arrows....repeat. Decent drops in here as well. This eye of the griffon is going up for sale on bristlebane server today in the bazaar.

I can confirm that he exists. Killed him 3 nights ago on the Tribunal Server. Probably about 46-47 lvl. Dropped a Griffon Wing Cloak. Also have killed 63 Timber Griffons, but no eye :(

Gone through L49 and 50, now into L51, almost all on Griffons in jp, never seen one drop yet. I'll keep trying as exp is good...but they are certainly NOT common, lol. Gratz to those who have rec'd one, hope to count myself in that group, eventually. It is posted that they also drop from Griffawns, though I can't confirm this.

Pathetic, but 1 gold into L52 I still haven't seen one drop. That's over 3 full levels mostly on Grifs. I can imagine no explanation at all, except of course pathetic bad luck.

Still none, but haven't been on much lately. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a Karanas curse, and they only drop for Tunare worshippers. That'd be unlikely, but I can't help feeling cursed. Still, only killed a 3 or 4 hundred, can't be too quick to jump to conclusions. Pls post if you've looted one and you're a Kanara worshipper.

As a Karana-worshipping halfling druid, I had one drop after killing maybe 3-4 yellows worth of nothing but griffons at 51. Didn't notice a glow, but perhaps my own neck slot light source obscured it.

I am a Karana worshipper and I just looted one. I killed seemingly countless griffons before this dropped. I was just going for experience, but what a lovely surprise to find this. ;)

I can confirm the glow.
Timber Griffons that carry the Eye as their loot do indeed glow as if they were a Fire Beetle or Wisp carrying a lightsource. Very obvious at night.
It was indeed a awesome experience for my Ranger to see a glowing Griffon, take him down and claim my well-earned Eye.

Went to JP to solo on the griffs for a little exp tonight. On the third timber griffon, the eye dropped. Nice little bonus for going to this zone. Funny thing is, 3 more griffs and another dropped for me. Did an /ooc and a nearby bard came to retrieve this nice wis item. I wonder if the above price is accurate in bazaar.

Just to confirm, at this point the price is pretty close. As more of these things show up on the servers, the price will probably go down some in my opinion.
That only stands to reason Ragnaranger. With any item, as the supply begins to to get larger, the price begins to drop as sellers compete for buyers. :-)
Will have to look into going after these with my fiancee (in game) who is a 51 Shaman. Last trip there she lagged so bad it nearly got her killed. Going to try turning down the clip plane and see if that makes a difference:-)

My experience with this: Dropped off a timber griffon. It was during the day, so I can't confirm the glow. Also, I have been in Jagged Pine regularly for around 3 weeks and have never seen this Golden Talon or whoever. Other druids and rangers I have talked to have also never seen him/it on track. So, it looks like for now, that it's a Loch Ness monster type thing. LOL :) Anyhoo, timber griffons are the way to go.

well i can tell you i was excited when i looted this. i was in jaggedpine for like 15 minutes. on the 3rd timber griffon i killed....BINGO... there it was. did a quick pc in the zone and was instantly in tell hell with offers as high as 5k. this is awesome for range slot. told guildies about it and the youngins could not believe it. mine dropped from a timber griff. don't forsee me selling it unless get lucky hunting and get another to drop then it will be instant sale time unless a guilie can get there right away.

Well... apparently the same is true for griffons who carry the eye as their loot. Just be aware the dryad and wisps glow as well, so you may wanna make sure you are seeing the griffon glow and not something else.

I was just goin around killin stuff with a 54 ranger friend, and this dropped within 20 minutes of me being there. poppped it in my range slot and got an extra +8wis unbelievable. I consider my-self lucky.

been hunting these damn griffs for about a week now, 8hrs today and no eye, wassup with that!!!!i must have the worst luck in the world. seen alot of griffon skulls, and griffon down, but no eye. wonder what the skull and down are for, cant find any info on those. i really want this eye, atleast im getting a little exp while i hunt these things!

This item is an awesome item, a Range item with +10wis is insane to be able to get from solo'ing some stuff for reasonable exp at 49-54. However I camped these things( the Timber Griffons) for a total of 32+ hours and just finally got on tonight(albeit after I got mine I found another within the next two kills). It is rather worth it because you can make some money, get some decent exp and have a chance of snagging one of these. Good luck!

I'd see the Paw or the CGS as 2 better hand held wis items for druids. I've heard people raving about this. The CGS are 400pp only (on my server), and the paw wasn't a hard quest (although I've heard some horror stories). Ac is nice, because no matter when happens, I get whacked all the time. Just wish I could get past 55 with my druid ;)
I think the reason people like this is the fact it is a range slot item. Yes, CGS is cheap, and paw not too hard to get, but neither are range items. just my non-druid 2cp worth )

I got this item after killing timber griffon's non-stop for about 4 hours a day, three days in a row. Only downfall is the cha, but just take it off when selling. Druids may have trouble with charming animals though. As for the golden talon never seen one and prob never will b/c i doubt it exists. That info needs to be changed, it ONLY drops off timber griffon's. Well worth the hunt. This item will prob sell for quite a bit as that there isn't really much to compare it to, and 10wis in range is incredible. I wouldn't give up no matter what...well unless someone wants to give me a fungi tunic then we can talk. Well that is my 2cp....Cotopaxix of Prexus out.

Well I can tell you that Golden Talon does exist, just look closely at the pic, I am the one that submitted this. I went into Jaggedpine, as soon as I could get on the day of the patch. I tracked a named mob (Golden Talon, a Griffon) and after I killed him this is what he dropped. There was only one other player in the zone at the time, and I beat him to the griffon by seconds, lucky me. I think that Golden Talon is a rare spawn, and since I haven't hunted much in Jaggedpine after that I had no way of knowing that this item dropped off the regular Griffons, or I would have added that to my submition. I just wanted to let you know he does exist, I have seen the beast and killed him.

One other thing. The biggest downfall to this item, is it is UGLY. One nasty looking eye staring you down EVERY time u look at your inventory. That small detail isn't enough to make me give up this item.

I got one of these off a griff and was wondering how much do you think they will sell for?
well at one point when i still had my high lev Cleric i would have payed top PP for this item... and the guy saying that its not worth much becuse it has no ac, hummm well lets take a look at this. lets say you clr or druid is at the 200 mark for wis. you add a 10 wis slot to range and drop lets say the 4wis item form your range. that gives you 206 wis. that means you can drop 6 wis from somewhere eles and build up more ac ex. if you have a Bloodstained tunic you drop the wis and you can pick up a Barbed ringmail.. alot more ac and str and hps.... ok i rambeld on long enuff. thats my 2 cp worth...

By the way, since the release of Luclin you get FULL benefit of Wis/Int for numbers over 200. You now want 255 in your primary stat casters.

No, you do not get full benefit for wis/int over 200, you get half. At level 60, you get 12 mana per point of wis/int up to 200, but only 6 mana per point for 201-255 wis/int.
