As far as this whole dwarf warrior armor thing goes, dwarves have enough STR and STA to start with, and most peeps put bonus points in these areas as well. I would have preferred instead of extra HP or stat boosts to have magic resist buffs added to at least some of the pieces. I play a dwarf warrior on Rallos and there MR is king and desperately needed by melee types.

Trade off
# Sep 09 2002 at 3:02 AM Rating: Decent
I am wonder if anyone else sees this as a better deal. Buying a Netherbian chitin BP(20ac 2str 10svf) for 20PP, rather then spending 20-40PP for the stupid drakeling scale. Ya lose 2 str and 5 sta but ya gain 8 ac and 10svf. i still might finish this quest, at a later point, just so i can have a matching set of armor for those dressier times :P

If you have to buy the Scale? Maybe. I got mine on the first kill, so I think I would have stuck with my FREE Newbie armor instead of buying the Chitin, then saved up for Crusty, Rygor, or better.

Funny

I find it funny that most people who play a RPG enjoy the fact that no race is the same. Of course the dwarf will be stronger, and thus, in all theory, will be able to create stronger weapons. Go figure, logic. I love these new armor quests. I have been making characters left and right to try out all the new quests. I love the armor for the dwarf war. Although the stats aren't all that great, it still provides EXTRA stats to your level 8+ war. Does it make a difference between 120 str and 123 str? OF course...so enjoy the luxury verant has provided.

Waiting for more newbie quests to come out.

Stop whining

I think everyone is missing the point - These are SUPPOSED to be newbie quests. Not Newbie Uber Twink quests. Good God I wish I would have had access to these when I first started (way way back). I was wearing Banded and Bronze at level 20, and hacking and slashing with a Shiny Brass Halberd. This was considered UBER back then. Bronze at 20 was a great accomplishment. Stop whining about how hard these quests are. ENJOY the fact that you can acquire armor and weapons without having to sell batwings / bone chips to save up enough to get them. Play and enjoy.

U HAD A SHINY BRASS HALBERD WOOOOWWW!!!!!!! my mage had a worng reat staff until 35 hehe. This armor is great. I was lvl 18 and i was just finishing buying lvl 12 spells ok so all you ew comers who just bought game a month maybe 6 months ago be quiet it used to be very hard to get armor like this stuff.

Amen to that Muvyn. I would would have died for quests such as these. I worked my tail off to get a complete set of banded (ty to all who were so generous buying my bone chips = all you nice folks on Veeshan)at level 10. In hindsight though I dont think I would trade the pride and sense of accomplishmnet I had when first donning those precious pieces.

I just finished the complete set of Axebringers Platemail(including weapon---2hs Axe) and I must say I am impressed. By level 10 I had all the items and the adds to my stats are very nice. I made a new character on a different server, so I wouldnt be tempted to twink. By level 10, my dwarf warrior is better equiped then the first character I made when I started EQ. I wish these quests had been around more than a year ago, would have made life for my Barb warrior much better.

Just some helpful info for those starting these, 1st go to the aqua gobby camps just south of the docks, the gobbys give good faction with the dwarfs so higher lvl peeps are camped there all the time, they let you loot the blocks, too heavy and almost worthless to the merchants. 2nd, all the items drop in BB(other than the forest drake scale which you need to go the Gfay for) or can be bought at the merchants, and none are no drop, except the tongues off the bandits.

Good luck and play nice kids )!!!!

Gnomes are weaker than Dorfs - thats obvious. Surely if you choose to play a Gnome War, then you are taking on the challenge of playing a class/race combination that is not exactly suited and so is tougher to play? I would take the view that this is your choice and if you succesfully level that little fella up, you can take greater satisfaction from that achievement. It seems silly to suggest that VI should balance out the races - why bother having them if they are all equally good at everything??

That said, I am not inclined to whine about any of these newbie armour quests - at the level you can attain these pieces, they are awesome. At lvl 8, my Ranger was wearing his guild tunic together with bits of cloth foraged from dead Orcs (ewwww - you just can't get the smell out, no matter how many washes!) and some leather pieces I had saved for, so getting any of this stuff would have been like all my Christmases come at once.

well my feeling is that the new pieces are great and that noone should be complaing, also 2str is practically nothing.
What!?
# Jul 26 2002 at 10:21 PM Rating: Decent
Verant says theyre putting in the stats to balance the races, but then give 4 str to a race thats stronger than the gnomes to begin with while the gnomes only get 2. These stats only make the races more unbalanced. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to get this piece for my Dorf War but this is totally unfair. Way to go VI.
