I was extremely lucky to win this in a roll on our first venture into V,T., talk about a bigtime boost in stats woot! The damage sheild does stack with other bramblecoats and lavasheild, does an average of 6pts to 18pts damage every time you get hit.

I know nothing on this item has been posted in a while, but in addition to the ds, the effect adds 16 CHA which is great for DI if you tank. Also to answer the below poster in case new ppl have the same question, it stacks with the Dain Ring effects as well as all other buffs i've seen.

Hi all !

My guild on Tunare got access to VTR recently and so far got 2 of these cloaks. I would love one of these for my toon but its kinda expensive DKp wise in the guild system and when i decide to get one i want to make sure i can use it to full effect. Hence the question: are there any known stacking issues with the effect ? Like 10th ring, ranger self buffs etc. I would be disapointed to loot it just to find out i cant use its effect. dont get me wrong still a nice cloak but dont want something i cant fully use.

regards

What does a -3 damage shield do?
RE: Effect?
# Mar 24 2003 at 10:20 AM Rating: Default
Afaik, a neg 3 damage shield gives 3 hp back to anyone, each time they hit the mob you cast it on.

Something like Mark of Karn cleric spell. Mark of Kings is neg 9, iirc.
Nice Cloak

question

Hi I dont think im exactly a newbie but this is a newbie question...
The only character ive gotten above 23 is my 44 druid and im wondering, do they ever get taken on raids? Not necessarily ToV or Vex Thal but where high lvl mobs are fought in big groups. If not what class is the easiest, war? cleric? wiz?
Thanks in advance. If u want to flame me u can email me at thomsen256@hotmail.com but dont bother taking up board space. :)

Sorry bud, I would'nt even look at this item till you get to lvl 60, get some AA skills then and find one of the top 3 guilds on your server and app for them. Do nothing else but play till you get to 60 and dont mess around with a bunch of alts, then you can have a shot at an item along with everyone who can wear this item in the guild you join, lol ( like 10 classes can use). Alot of competition for this item, haha. No but seriously, no guild that can do this will wanna hang out with anyone under lvl 60 and especially somone that will slow the whole guild down without 3 run speed in AA. Get to 60 then twink your alts makes the game so much easier. Yes I know some people disapprove of that method, but hey so what I'd like to see some of my alts get to lvl 60 before I grow grey hair.

If it's a big raid, usualy your own guild will make room for you regardless. If they can only take so many people, they probably only want a few druids (like 1 to 3). They can be useful, but after you have so many your just getting someone that could of been a cleric for healing or a wiz for nuking, or a rogue for pure damage output. Same thing for all of the classes that I did't list. I think I also just answered your second question, though admitadly you only need so many clerics too. If you want to be welcome in any high level raid, learn to be an expert rogue or wizard. I just don't think you can have too many of either on a raid.

If you want a class that will ALWAYS be needed, no matter what the situation, you should play either an enchanter or cleric. There ARE other classes that get sought out frequently.. tank classes mostly, then monks/rogues.. but Clerics and Enchanters always have a spot open to them.
RE: question
# Jul 24 2002 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
actualy I disagree with chanters. It's hard to FIND a chanter for some raids, but there is such a thing as too many. For some raids you need alot (say 6), but for most raids you only need 1 and realy only want 2 or 3. (note: need is often less than want, and an equivelent shammy can take the place of an extra chanter, or vis versa). Note, I am talking about big raids, the kind where you expect more than 2 groups going to kill something that has a good chance of leading to a TPW if any of the casters and/or MT and ST ***** up.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 25 2002 at 12:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) My main was a Chanter till I got tired of trying to find groups. She hit 37 and I just got fed up with trying to get a group.

Here is what you do, find an indoor zone
Here are your choices at your level:
sol b, guk, split paw, dalnir, The Temple of Droga, Mines of Nurga, City of Mist, Tower of Frozen Shadow

Now /who all lfg 35 45
Maybe if you are lucky they are all in the same area but you prolly won't be so get your standard group so try to include a gater. If no one is using lfg start doing the horible /who all "insert class here" 35 45

/agree's with above posts.............but on the other hand if you want a good char to start up try a Beastlord. You can if want solo all the way to 65 in any number of places, and we are becoming more usefull in groups, just for our sheer skill in both melee, slowing and buffing. recently i had a druid asking me to group with him in JP while i was in the nexus just because we have so many helpfull skills.

Encs though are extremely helpfull and if there wasnt a druid for me to partner up with and enc would possibly be my second choice, close against a cleric though. when starting an enc though you have to make sure you can afford to since you have the most spells in the game, and bearing in mind that kei currently costs about 20kpp if not more you have to have the backing of your guild or earn a fair bit o cash yourself.

good luck whatever

Haveing an enchanter main I hope you reconsider, I think they are the most rewarding class to play and do get groups much easier. The average time it takes for me to get a group in Velks is about 10 minutes, my 56 warrior can take up to 4 hours (yes 4) to find a group some days. At 37 people are just starting to see your value, by 40 you'll be given tells from 3 or 4 zones away sometimes. Try Velious for exp, I did Crystal Caverns till 40 on spiders. Good luck

Sounds like a aoe dispel mob item, plus the horrendously good stats of course :)
RE: question
# Jul 25 2002 at 2:05 AM Rating: Default
I've never actually played a chanter to high level but I'd suggest that wide open zones like dawnshroud, where there is space to avoid/park adds are not zones that play to the enchies strengths. Most groups in mid/high level dungeons are loath to move from zone in without Crowd Control I doubt you'd have so much difficulty there - plus the exp bonuses are the best in the game at these places...
RE: question
# Jul 25 2002 at 1:59 AM Rating: Default
you are obviously looking for groups in the wrong places. in DL, at 37, you are NOT going to be mez mobs. chanter without mez, is losing one of his/her main uses. from my personal dawnshroud experience, there are slim to none groups in there, and only once have i managed to get a group. and that was at 41 with a monk. head back to the overthere, solo, group, do whatever to get up to 40. then go back to DL and i assure you that you will get a group just as fast as anyone else, or faster.
