I have heard several people state with their sta over 100 that their "atk" drops when they run out of sta in their bar. I have not noticed this AT ALL with any of My 4 melee classes. In fact, for the most part I don't go much over 100 sta on any of My melee classes. I find it easyer to just add hp pc's and see higher returns on those hp pc's then I do adding sta. I know added sta gives You extra hp's each lvl but with 2 rings I get 130 hp's. Man, thats a lot of hp's to get a couple extra here and there. Personally I think the other 3 stats str/agi/dex are more important for melee classes. Alot of people say Dex isn't important but then ask me what My dex is at when I Crit 4 and 5 times in a fight. Or My offence skills are maxed the first yellow bub into a lvl instead of in the 4th or 5th yellow bub into a lvl. I find sta redundent, almost as much as Cha. JM2C
I would urge anyone hoping to become a successful Planar Level melee to utterly dismiss Montanya's commentary regarding Stamina.
Most especially if you are a Warrior or Paladin and are required to Tank for a living.
HP is *all* for the high level melee. 1 Point of Stamina = 6 HP. So go ahead and leave yer Sta at 100, and give up the added 900 or so HP that maxxing it out gives you.
Then ponder why you're never included within the main melee group.
I say again, Stamina is *all*. If you started a melee class, and you did not put every possible point into Sta at the beginning, you have essentially crippled yourself.
There are reasons why Ogres are the best tanks, and the highest racial Sta is one of them.
Please get a grip. No one 'cripples' themselves with ANY stat choices they make when creating their character. As a supposed 'planar level' character should know, high end gear is so filled with stat increases and ALL stats are so easy to buff that you could put all your starting points as a melee into CHA if you want and it won't make a serious difference.
Oh, and the reason Ogres make great tanks is because they can't be stunned by melee attacks from the front. Less time stunned = more attacks = more aggro = better tank... But really, race doesn't matter that much either, especially in the high-end game. Play a race for RP reasons or for faction reasons or for the XP modifier or just because you think they're cool, don't play one because you think you NEED to in order to play a class effectively. Hell, I've had 'uber' meleers who played a large race for the stats tell me that they wish they'd have played a small race like gnomes or halflings instead because the meager stat differences are outweighed by the annoyance of constantly asking for Shrink or buying Shrink devices.
