As a Paladin in the higher end game you are frequently required to off tank and one of the main considerations is the ability to heal yourself. There are zero FT items in SSRA for paladins, thank god for the ornate boots with FT3, as a Paladin I would feel no guilt about bidding for this whatsoever, but that is just my own opinion. FT for Paladins pre VT is as rare as 100 hp face pieces for paladins. This is a fine piece for anyone lucky enough to win it though. As we are just entering VT, I hope to see a few drop :)
Duke Alvret Tassadar Lord Protector Tholuxe paells
Once again like so many have stated, This is a high end game item that most individuals will never see let alone roll on which is an impossiblity in itself. Any guild that is capable is not going to roll on it. They have complex point systems or award systems in play for loot. These systems tend to be based on who puts more into the guilds in raid time and attendance etc. If a warrior had points over a cleric or pally or blah blah blah he could bid for it and win. However There are better items out there for them and most probably have them or are saving up for their *dream* item.
Although it's generally true that guilds in VT have complex point systems or award systems, people still tend to keep the good of the guild in mind.
This dropped recently in VT. A paladin bid on it. Then I bid on it, too. Then the paladin graciously withdrew, saying "cleric FT4 is better than paladin FT4". He might have pressed the issue, but he certainly would have gotten ill will from a number of people.
Our guild's priorities for FT items are: 1. FT15 for clerics 2. FT15 for pure casters
This is subordinate to our RPP system (Raid Participation Point system), though. We are not going to hand FT items to people that have not spent time helping the guild raid.
Absolutely correct. Another thing alot of people are overlooking is that this item has 100hps. Prepop, 100 hps is alot! I know of some guilds that allow warriors in on any item that has 100+ hps. The FT 4 is good for some of the classes, but the ac/hps/stats make it good for a warrior.
AYE at the point where a War would be able to get this it would be useless cause his/her AC would be killer at this point, WHata Freaking wastes of FT4 too. Pally item :)
I SWEAR IF I HEAR ONE MORE PERSON GO ON ABOUT AC CAPS I'M GOING TO TOSS MY CHIPS ;)
"Any war high enough to get this will already be past the AC soft cap, so the 50 AC is no big deal to them. Plus it has little HP so I doubt that many wars would want it."
I must admit a lot of things tend to get capped unintentionally at high levels, but c'mon people it seems pretty damn logical that if you have 50ac on a bloody face piece it means you can take off your Cobalt BP(just an example don't start flaming lol) and put on some bp with a lot more hp I doubt one would be that difficult to find, my point is that if you get AC on one item (godly AC I might add) it means hp on other items
**********logical part over**********************
ok in my personal opinion it is a pally item, not just because I play a 60 pally, but because damn it I want one ;)
I'm sorry if this sounds like a flame, but people in their low 50's posting who should get this for VT loot is pretty lame. Lots of people looking (including me) at this will never be there when one drops.
Any war high enough to get this will already be past the AC soft cap, so the 50 AC is no big deal to them. Plus it has little HP so I doubt that many wars would want it.
In the end, loot is decided by the raid leaders, not by level 50's on some EQ site posting "<instert class here> loot omg."
Well, since everyone seems to think anything that has ac and wis/mana is a cleric/hybrid class item, it gets kinda stupid, they put the classes there for a reason, because they WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO USE IT, not so you (insert stupid word here) can ***** about it, get real peeps, lots of peeps there can use it and would love it, dont leave them out.
Why do people post "monk item" or "bard item" or "cleric item"??
I mean, not to flame, but c'mon people if it says on the item cleric/paladin/sk/etc obviously it's not JUST for clerics. Every class can reap benefits and suffer hinderances from an item. Just because a particular class doesn't need all the stats on an item, doesn't make it unuseable by that class.
If I were on a raid and this item dropped and I was on my warrior, I'd roll for it. Look at the AC, look at the saves.
Yeah, I must agree with RendaelBrigh, this would be just about useless to a Warrior. I'm only 41 so I am not trying to sound all high and mighty about rolls for loot and such, but seriously, any raid leader that awarded this to a Warrior should be /smacked. The resists aren't that great for high end, the +25 Hp would be a joke to a VT capable Warrior, and the FT and Mana really need to go to the other guys. Now...just if us Rangers could use it...oh well /shrug plenty of good stuff out there.
"If I were on a raid and this item dropped and I was on my warrior, I'd roll for it"
No way in hell you would be rolling for this. Guilds award this based on their own system they have. You are killing something requiring a high-end guild to get to. This would be a complete waste of FT FOUR, WIS, and mana to a WARRIOR. First clerics, then hybrids, then war/bard.
If RA rolls, well I guess there will be some pissed off people in your guild when an all / all item drops that can clearly benefit one class over another that the guild needs to equip more for the betterment of the guild.
AF awards on level, participation, need, and length of time in guild.
No one 2 days into joining is going to get a Skyshrine BP on a roll.
A level 60 cleric is higher on the list to get it awarded over a level 50 warrior that is no where near MA status, raids 3 times a month, etc.
This item is best suited for Pal, SK or Bards. No cleric should ever get this item from a VT, SSra capable guild for the sheer fact that Clerics have many more FT items avaliable in those 2 zones than the other 3 classes.
