20% savings?
# Feb 10 2004 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
From how I'm reading the focus effect, it will save 20% on all detrimental spells. It says no complete heals, but Detrimental Allowed.

If that's true, ANY class that casts detrimental spells would gain HUGE benefit from this. Normal Mana preservation is 10%, Elemental quest gear Mana pres is 15% mana savings.

IF this would work for all nukes/debuffs/crowd control/etc. Then this would be amazing for any class.

I have these boots as well as a preservation of xegony item. I can confirm that these boots do work on detrimental spells and does overwrite the preservation of xegony effect.

Odd... maybe they may have a different graphic depending on the race or something. I'm a wood elf ranger and I'm not getting chain or plate. I'm getting a leather graphic. *shiver*

No monk Really at the Level that they can achieve these would use them unless...... he has maxed STA or his agi dex is way low. there is no STA on these and the HP is neglagible. And more than likely he will have a higher AC foot item anyways.
This is better for a caster type or rogue I suppose.

I think people tend to think monks whine about gear for the simple fact that monks are more outspoken as we have more restrictions on getting gear than say another class. We have to deal with weight and most good monk items being All/ALL

AS a monk I think about who would benifite most from an Item not the fact that its zero weight high ac and all all monks need ac but more importanly we need HP resists because our ac gets to 1200 easy and over 1200 ac, hp resists seems to be more important for pulling.

Just my 2 cents

you only get hit if your tank isnt doing his job, or your using a weapon that procs something that really pisses off the mob (EX: Adamantite Club), As a monk myself, i would gladly wear these boots, 35hp is pretty good for boots, and 15dex/20agi is pretty wicked too.

Yea, monks dont get hit. Not like they ever pull or anything.

And he has a monk... learn your class dude, stop playing ebayquest =P
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 11 2002 at 11:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As long as the gear or items say ALL/ALL its for ANYONE..doesnt matter what one person thinks it should go to just cause of one or more stats..and JUST cause items have a low weight does NOT mean its for monks..im sure verant made it have a low weight so all you monks wouldnt complain and say "waaaa us monks always get ripped off" having that low weight makes it usuable for all melee classes..added bonus for safe fall doesnt mean its SO a rogue item either..i have a rogue and i look at these and know every melee class can benefit from it

It's Obvious

One says it in every item so I get to now, this is so a monk item. And for once it really is, these are some of the best boots in the game imo.

I would actually say it's more of a rogue item, same stats benefit both classes, but the 5% safe fall bonus would benefit the rogue more, as theirs is capped lower than the monks.

You could also argue a case for rangers, but as the skill mod only affects classes with the skill, the mod would go to waste, but the inclusion of mana for the ranger is what could be used to argue for them..

Either way, neither you or I are ever likely to decide on who gets these, so both our comments are about as constructive as using Lego to build a 40 storey office building.

these would be best for any VH WAR or BST or SHM BRD becasue it would rasie the_non class cap that they cant raise any other way

Technically monks safe fall skill would benefit the most from the 5% skill mod:

Monk: 200 goes to 210
Vah Shir (any class): 100 goes to 105
Rogue: 94 goes to 98
Bard: 40 goes to 42

Personally I think useing legos to build a forty story building is very constructive. +P
Question
# Jul 10 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Excellent
Does the skill mod for safe fall add that skill to classes/races that don't have it? Or does it have no effect on them?

If you don't have the skill, you have a skill of 0, so it'll add 5% to your skill of 0. In other words, it has no effect.
