rules of camping
# May 09 2001 at 6:12 AM Rating: Good
Problem is there are no rule of "exclusive camping". The only rule I have seen enforced by GMs is sharing, ie : someone camp for something, another guys shows up and ask for camping the same mob. First guy get the first kill, second guy get the next, and there goes the rotation.
Each time I talked to GMs, I was confirmed of this rule.
Of course, KSing is prohibited.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2001 at 3:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think this is an idiotic take on the whole situation. dont tell people to ks?! what is your problem? if someone takes the time to wait for camp to open up or is lucky enough to get it uncamped...then it is thier camp until they can take no more. what r u tryin to get at? time limits on camps? cmon man. u cannot know wether or not someone is tryin to get the item for themselves or to resell so should not condone people ksing others camps. if you sit there and camp for 8 hours for legs and get the arms....it is still your camp and should be aloud to be there untill rdy to leave or pass out. if you want the camp get up early or wait long periods of time for it like the other people do....its not our fault you wanna get on at 6o'clock in the evening and think you can get a camp, then get mad because its camped!!! you want good stuff you gotta work for it. fair is not defined as weasling around and taking someones kill from under them after they have camped the spot for 8 hours....that is called theft. just a thought.

Apparently you have never read Verants guide/GM policy on "Camping". Truthfully, if two people wish to kill the same thing, they either come to an agreement, or the guide/GM will make an agreement, more than likely switching off kills. There is really no such thing as "camping" at all in the game. It's just something used to cause less problems normally. If two people want the ancient croc, there is nothing the first person who showed up can do. It's the rules, maybe you need to read them.

That's pretty much what he said. Why don't you read what he wrote again...and maybe "camping is not in the rulebook" but is the accepted way of play by more than 99% of all players. What a weird critique.
Lore?
# Apr 17 2001 at 11:37 AM Rating: Good
I agree that these should be made a Lore item.

The Ancient Croc camp is horrendous to try to get into, usually because there are level 40+ heavy casters that just sit there, claim camping rights, and just kill the croc until they are either so full of the items that they have to gate somewhere to auction them, orare tired of camping him.

I have witnessed a camp where a GM had to be called in because a higher level caster was KSing the croc. The GM ordered the caster to stagger with the group that was already there. Then, when the GM left, the caster KSed the group's kills anyway. The group called in an upper level wizzy to see if he could get the guy to group up. The idiot grouped and was promptly teleported to the other side of Norrath =)
RE: Lore?

Yup. I agree these should be lore too. I have a level 30 druid who will be going for these in another 3 or 4 levels. I regularily see high 40's to 60 level toons camping stuff like this or even lower level stuff. 1 nuke or a couple of slashes and bang its over. At 30, my spells can't nuke something like the croc outright and usually they cast slower than the higher spells. I can't just wade in and kill it. I have to use the best method for my class and level. The higher level toons just run in and hit it. They don't have to worry about getting killed by this. So there goes the rule about hitting it first. Of course a high 40 or 50+ toon will hit it first. They don't have to worry about getting iced by it. They get absolutely no exp from it. They are just there to farm. A small few are there to get it for their lower level toon. Not too bad a thing to do, but u just follow these guys to EC tunnel and shortly after u see the item up for sale. I getting really sick of the high level toons that think that they own every mob and every zone. Had 1 level 54 enchanter tell everyone to leave qeynos hills so he could get Pyzgin's stone. At least if they were lore, the high level toon would have to leave to sell it. Although he could come back later and get it again because of the slow spawn rates(really slow on some, ick!). Might have a chance then. I personally like the trivial loot code myself. Most people that I saw piised off about it were high level toons. Couldn't farm it. Would have to buy it from the appropiate level char and gee, that would be against their nature. Thats backwards you know. And toons they truly are.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 16 2001 at 12:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i paid 400 for mines 800 is too much i would never buy it for that much..so people..dont buy it fomr this *** trying to get a 400pp...hes just jacking up the price too much
RE: 800PP horrible price
# Jun 15 2001 at 7:14 PM Rating: Default
We were chatting in guildsay about prices listed here, the general consensus is divide by half for the correct current selling prices. Doesn't apply to everything of course, but for the most part doing so coincides with the true going rates. At least on Terris-Thule.

err...'divide by half'? that would mean multiply by 2 then.....?
Whoa there lucky

This was my first real camp in my eq career. It went well, i got the Sleeves after an hour then he popped again 2 spawnz later, and i got the Legs which i came for. i only hope future camps go similar....
get in line
# Feb 20 2001 at 4:18 PM Rating: Default
the line to camp the AC is terrable, i have waited for 14 hours for my spot to camp the ac, and the guy never gave it up. Worth the wait though for the 800pp reselling value.
RE: get in line
# Apr 12 2001 at 9:01 AM Rating: Default
Sad!! If you are high enough lvl to kill the croc you can make 800+ plats in other places easy in 14 hours. If the plat is the reason for your long wait you are foolish. If it's for actually earning and using the item then go for it. Yet another itme verant really should make lore no drop to keep the dam farmers away. Lastly, you technically can't camp anything in EQ. If someone is that selfish and wants to hold a spot sooooo long I say take the kill every now and then. They need to share the camp so others have a chance. Rotating kills is logical and fair and if they have a problem with that then they deserve to have the kill taken from them. See what happens if they complain to a GM that they were CAMPING the croc and you killed it. Just don't kill it if they hit it first. That would be kill stealing and could get you baned but if you can hit it first it's open season!! If you don't like this then either wait in the 14+ hour line or move on to another place. I hate farmers and/or chronic campers!!

# Jun 21 2001 at 11:31 AM Rating: Default
"As for this person who suggests rotating spawns, your obviously too low to camp the damn thing yourself. n00b"

that is the dumbest sentence i have ever read! AND I HAVE READ LOTS OF DUMB SENTENCES!

sharing is the only way get along in this world, guys like you should be KOS to the entire server.

Well I am not "too low to camp the damn thing", but I will tell you that "Camping" for 14 hours and trying to be the owner of an area is extremly selfish and not supported by VI. If you would like to "camp" something, be prepared to share it if i show up and you have been there for more than 4 hours. KS'ing from me if I am there will result in an immediate /petition! I do feel these should be a Lore item to aid in the "I am camping" effort. But since they are not, then, Play Nice! These are a nice item to obtain for Wisdom. Don't be a selfish person!!!!

My opinion on the camp. If I've been there 4 hours, killed the croc 5 times and he hasnt dropped the legs for me, and you KS me (or take "your turn as you call it") I will /petition you for being selfish.

Its one thing if the person there is collecting several items, but if it hasnt dropped, get in line and wait your turn!

I'm currently here camping the AC now for my druid (I'd rather get the item, than buy it) I've been here 2.5 hours, and I have 3 sleeves. If someone comes in asking for the sleeves, I'll give em a pair, but they better not take the AC if they are after the legs. ~Just my opinion
