Notice how they make this Vah Shir wearable, yet, Vah Shir do not even have classes that can equip it... are they planning on making Vah Shir Int. casters?!

It's supposed to be Class: Nec/Wiz/Mag/Enc Race: ALL

Unfortunately, someone forgot to check off the "Erudite" box, and possibly the Froglok one (depends when the SS was taken)

Since I found Lucy I do not rely on allakhazam for anything other than who drops what and even then they are not always up to date. Lucy tends to stay very up to date on items and usability and stats and focus effects. Allakhazam is a great general EQ site but Lucy stays more up to date on items and spells.

Check [link=lucy.fnord.net/item.html?id=26778]here[/link] for current stats and usability.
No ERU?

What exactly is the point of leaving erudites out on this item? Smiley: bah Smiley: banghead
Not like I will get it soon, anyway... but still, why?

Ain't nothing like a Barbarian Wizard or a Troll Enchanter use these thingies either
Smiley: disappointed
An Ogre Mage would be da bomb though...better yet a Vah Shir Necromancer...

Focus items...
# Jun 28 2002 at 12:40 PM Rating: Default
all the focs items seem to come from "uber places" how lame
RE: Focus items...
# Jun 28 2002 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
Why do people say "uber places" "uber guilds" "that is to d*mn uber"? I dont get it, this item is really insanely good, so why shouldnt it be so hard to get. I think it should be a pain to get this item and it is.

Go get yourself a Batskull earring. A Green Silken Drape (Or was it gossamer?). There's a bunch more you don't need to be 40-50+ to get the items with focus effects, but I can't think of'em right now because I'm lazy.

Testament of Vanear (can get in your 20's, aside from camp claiming wars...) - nice item. Love the way it sparkles whenever I cast a spell. ^_^
hmm

I don't think there is a better range item for caster's other than this...are there?

Anyone knows on which server are Magister located?

And grats to the one of them who was awarded this, i'm not so good at appraising INT caster stuff, but i can't imagine what could be added to this to make it better.

Magister plays on Erollisi Marr (my own server in fact). Used to live in Ssra Temple but seems they bought some property up in Vex Thall and haven't been out much.

This item is for pure casters who are level 60. Adding a Meditation percentage does nothing if you are at 252 Meditation. Since there are no pure casters with less than 252 Meditation, the Meditate +2% is utterly worthless.
RE: Meditate +2%?
# Jun 28 2002 at 5:44 AM Rating: Decent
The max modified skill you can have is 255. This has been varified comparing a 10% and 12% backstab adder at max skill (230) using duelist disipline. The effective skill in these cases are 253 and 255, and do show different damage, which is the expeced 1% apart. You can locate this info at The Safehouse if need be.

You might notice 2% is excactly what is needed to take you from 252 to 255, so my money is on that they actually know what they are doing.

EDIT: Realised that i had the skill cap for backstab wrong, it is 225, so the backstab test shows nothing about if the cap is 252 or 255. The word from VI is still that max modified skill is 255, I just dont know of any solid data to back this.

Turn off the game, go outside, get some sun, drink a beer, and get a girlfriend/boyfriend (whatever your preference is) cause if you know this much info on the game you need to stop playing.

There are soft caps and hard caps...

All skills are Hard Capped at 252 because the information is saved in one byte of memory, which equates to 256 memory locations. They seemingly have reserved 253 - 255 for special information. (there are 256 locations but the range is actually 0 - 255)

Various skills have different "Soft" caps, depending on skill, race and class. All Trade skills are soft capped at 200 with one skill able to reach 250. That still leaves room under the hard cap of 252 for each skill to be modified, it just takes alot more modification to get the 200 level skills up to 252.

The only time you can definitely say that you won't get any improvement from a skill mod item is when that skill is already at 252, like the meditate skill. The idea of putting a plus meditate mod on an item that only level 60 intel casters can use is fairly useless at this point, but who knows what's planned as they go through caster balance further and we approach PoP.

one byte occupies erm, one memory location, not 256. It's comprised of 8 bits, hence 256 is how many different numbers this 1 byte can store (2 ^ 8)

You look at one of the best items in the game at this time and you think that you can't use the skill mod on it? /em rolls his eyes.

I agree it could have a backstab 100% for all I care it still is sweet.
Effect
# Jun 27 2002 at 9:35 PM Rating: Good
The restiction means that it can ONLY be used on lv60 and lower spells, thus, any spell with a cast time greater than or equal to 3 seconds
grammer
# Jun 27 2002 at 7:21 PM Rating: Decent
think that restriction is just bad grammer. the restriction is saying it only works on level 60 or lower not that it doesn't work on level 60 or lower.
effect
# Jun 27 2002 at 6:58 PM Rating: Decent
Ok.. this is a nice item but what is the deal with the effect? I just looked at info for "Kaki's Greater Pernicity" and it seems this effect does not work with any spells "Level 60 and lower." Is this a hint to higher lvls in upincoming(sp) expantions?
