Duel Weild Noobs

HUMAN MONKS can start in FREEPORT and QEYNOS - This means a Human monk could travel (easily with POK) and do BOTH quests. He could then use the items he wanted. Why post this here? Because you can also do the OTHER new person weapon quest. [LORE] sure, 2 different quests, 2 different items. Both very light.

Monks get duel weild at level 1 right off, these can be primary or secondary. So now your skilling up H2H much faster early on. The default hand to hand with naked fists is an absurd (bad) ratio..

NO DROP
# Jan 14 2003 at 11:02 PM Rating: Default
I just did this quest with my druid today. Thought I would give the wraps to a young monk along with some pants I no longer needed. To my surprise and disappointment the wraps are now NO DROP. So I thought I would share this info.
So we can no longer give these to a young monk struggling along to help them out. Which truely sucks. Way to go VI, nerfed again. I mean it is not like you could do this and expect to sell the things and make it worth anything. These are for the young human monks struggling along. Not the greatest weapon but as mentioned magic so useful in that respect.

The person that first posted this quest and linked a jpg to the items, is from FV server. Almost nothing is no drop on FV server, so this is why its shown as tradable on the picture at this website. Too bad you wasted your time doing the quest...
Newbies getting better weapons

I say don't bother with this kill the gopher snakes, gnolls, large rats and all the other things that they added the uber newbie loot to and in a couple of hours you'll have 20 to 30pp and can buy a couple of Polished Steel Ulaks in the bazaar (got mine for 11pp ea.)

Magic attack main good thing about it

Sure its a lousy damage/delay weapon but if a low level monk doesnt have a magic weapon yet for hitting wisps, ghouls, or whatever magic mobs that require it, then this thing is useful. My two cents since I just started a newbie monk, and its darn embarassing to hit a wisp and realize you don't have any magical attacks besides your kicks/strikes.

One Head

You only need to kill one guard, for only one of the two heads are required in getting this minor reward. I suggest, if you are a non twink newbie monk, asking a higher level player to kill them for you. I know I would if I were asked that, with all the rest of the items being found on merchants, you can have these at lvl 1.

These are nice for a 1-10 monk, but by level 15 (that's with a good group, those guards are level 21), they just don't seem worth it. Your normal hand to hand damage is 5, and your delay is 30. While 6 less delay is a substantial amount, I think they would have been able to get stuff better. Maybe the low weight would draw some over 1HB, but I don't think so.

Just my 2 copper.

EDIT: Apparently the guards have been overestimated in other posts, judging by the below text. Still, it would seem that they would not be of much use at 16.

the main advantage is that they are a magic attack for low level untwinked monks. It can take a very long time to obtain magical attacks otherwise.

Both guards were blue to my monk at level 16, and were easy to solo with me even being untwinked.
