Recently, I was using this weapon to attack after creatures would run, and my 1 Hand Blunt skill went up. I checked the weapons stats, and it now says it is a 1 HB instead of I Hand Slash. Anyone know something I dont?

Magic too

Maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges here but... I did not do the halfling druid armor/weapon quest but I did do the quest for the halfling ranger and got the full set of Thorn Mail Armor as well as the Storm Reaper Thorn Machete. What I don't like about the machete and the armor is that none of it is magic items. For the level my ranger is at the finish of the quest, willowisps are good experience, but alas, my nifty quest weapon just doesn't hit them. At least this is magical.

i was gonna post this :

they are trying to kind of ballance it all out. like stamina where one class or race might need it and so on. Not only that but you will see the less common class/race combos gettign nicer stuff.
Encouraging more Druid and Ranger humans or maybe more Dark elf clerics or Euradite or Highelf paladins. Etc. Think about how few humans you see period other then monks. They can be every class but Zerker and Shaman.... how many human necros or SK's you see? and so on.

but now i see what your saying that does suck. i thought they were ALL magical. :(

Give them a break. We all see how sucky half-elf and human stats are compared to halfling, so it's only fair that their newbie quest armor is a little better to even it out.
What is up?!

You know, compared to some of the other racial/class specific stuff, this Pine Druid stuff is pretty damn good. What gives?
Did any of the dev team members have any interaction with one another before they decided to *ahem* attempt to initiate class balance and reconstruct newbie armor quest and whatnot....? *scratches his head*
I just wish the boys and gals involved in the issues and problems, per se, had a freaking clue....

I think there are two things at work:

1. they are trying to get more people to play in underutilized zones and new/neglected racial and class combos. Qeynos area is usually devoid of people compared to many other city zones, and there are far more Halfling druids than human ones, maybe that's their idea of balancing (it's also possible that they were thinking of the poor Half Elf druids who start out stupid, so they loaded up on WIS stats for this armor)

2. they are getting better as they go along. First attempts at race/class specific armor are always going to look pathetic -- I remember how people loved the Curscale for Iksars, and the various newbie Beastlord items, but now those look pretty weak compared to what is coming out now.

Can't wait to see what they come up with now that they are getting to the Wood and High Elves -- GFay should be a mess once those go live...

The wood elf druid armor sucks, compared to the halfling armor. less ac, less wis, and looks like the jolly green giant.

What armor are you talking about? The Stormreaper Boned has identicle stats to the Tunarean Soldier armor. The next level down for tailored armor is Vale for Karana, and Imbued Elven Chainmail for Tunare type, the Tunare has same AC, more wis, some cha, int and save VS magic. The Karana has one or two sta instead. The newbie quests... I only looked at legs and chest, (pressed for time) and the Wood Elf stuff was better there too, (and the Surefall tunic was much better than either one. Maybe I am missing something. Just curious.
Sigh

Balancing
# Jun 20 2002 at 2:56 PM Rating: Default
Remember that they are trying to balance the armors to make everyone even, yea right. Just look at the Gnome War Sword compared to the DE and Steel War swords, it kicks their butts.
At first I applauded VI for putting out these quests. Now I'm having trouble understanding how they came up with the Stat figuring they put on these items. There isnt any balance and I dont think the programers who did one particular race talked to the other programers who did another.

I confused :(
Nice !!!

WOW !!! Compare this to the Scimitar the Halfling Druids get. WAY better. It gets an extra +1 Sta, 3 better delay, 1 better damage and weighs 6.5 stones less !!!

My Halfling is green with envy (well he is green anyway, but...)
