good for all

I personally think it should be ALL/ALL. No matter what class you are, you can still use armor that has stats like this. I have a char of almost every class there is and I have yet to find one that could not use this item. Melee for one can use it to train faster, which goes for all the classes...and any caster type can use the Int or Wis, and the ac isnt bad either. Anyone who says any class cannot use this is cracked, and overpowered? An item like this would let me trade out a different armor piece that has wis on it for agility, stamina, dexterity, charisma, or even strength for my cleric. there was a post stating that we only had to concentrate on 1 stat....that poster cant have been playing for very long at that time. Every stat ties in to the survivability of your character, and thus the group. My cleric has low agility, and that is what im concentrating on now. It hurts to get hit and its best to avoid it. And since clerics get hit, the stamina i could get on another item that i could get w/o worrying about losing wis would be a major help. Im tired of dying more times than a ranger, but at least i can rez myself.
sortof jumbled but i hope you can get the gist of the message.

It is too bad clerics cannot use this. Wonder why not? What a shame.

too over-powered for pure casters. 13int/wis? holy ******* thinks the pure casters, on such an easy target for the reward.

that's why it's nice for mid-level knights. :)

I was on a Naggy Raid today and when ML said a 13 wis neck item dropped,I was so excited. Then he said Hybrid only.WTF?I would've killed for this thing.../sigh
RE: Damn
# Jan 09 2003 at 7:01 AM Rating: Decent
For hybrids, getting melee stats and caster stats up at the same time involves a lot of tradeoffs. I play an SK, but I can just imagine a Pally's mana bar getting wiped out completely when they use their newest rezz spell. For SKs like myself, fear kiting sucks mana like crazy too. Basically, this item lets us focus on other stats than int or Wiz. The AC is a big bonus too over the no AC Velium Saphire or Ruby necklaces.

I got one right befor patch tonight on Saryrn. Its my first no drop piece that I have ever been psyched about, and if casters could equip it, I would have felt like a jerk rolling on it...

And if you think that the wrong classes get this item, go check the Plane of Hate bestiary and see the random stuff that Innorukk drops...it'll put this item in perspective.

Beastlords were added to this item. All races still.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 21 2002 at 12:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This item is doable for a Paladin, Ranger, and SK, but for any other class it is only a 7AC neck piece.
Casters
# Mar 19 2002 at 1:29 AM Rating: Default
Pure Casters can't wear this for the same reason rogues can't use primal velium war lances. It would be too powerful. At least, that's what I'd assume. C'est la vie. This item is only useful for hybrids a bit, though it is very useful for trade skilling... my rogue would love it for that purpose.

Im wondering the same thing. Why not any pure casters? Most pure melee classes would not even bother with the low armor class.

how come warriors, rogues, and monks can use this?
Wrong Classes
# Oct 04 2001 at 9:54 PM Rating: Default
Man did they pick the wrong classes for this to go to? WTF does a warrior need with plus 13 int and wis? I play a ranger and would never wear this as there are so many other good stat boosting plus to Neck stuff out there. They should add this to all all or caster all.
RE: Wrong Classes
# Feb 16 2002 at 5:53 AM Rating: Default
i wear a Sebilite Collar with 6 ac and a good chunk of mana on it. this is more ac and raw int/wis, the perfect neckpiece for a hybrid for quite awhile. Due to good AC on neckpiece, i could see warriors/rouges wanting this...+13 int could mean alot when working tradeskills.
RE: Wrong Classes
# Oct 17 2001 at 5:36 AM Rating: Default
I play a ranger and I want this item. 13 wis and 7 ac to me seems great. I guess when you have good str, good agi, and good dex you want to move on to stats like ac and wisdom.

Won't the additional wis / int help with tradeskill successes, even for melee classes? maybe that is why they would want one, not necessarily as a fighting piece
RE: Wrong Classes
# Jan 15 2003 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
Minadin, you are absolutely correct. This is an excellent piece for anyone who's working on trade skills. Sadly, very few people realize this, and most of those who do don't care. So, the chances are that a warrior would be laughed at if he/she wanted to roll on one for working up tradeskills, but in all honestly it would be well worth it.

How long has this game been out and you people still argue why this item wasn't geared towards casters?

Anyway, melee should go strictly AC from lvl 1 up till they start doing ubermobs-where-high-AC-meets-diminishing-returns then they go for resists and HPs.
Melee Based?
# Jul 30 2001 at 5:16 PM Rating: Decent
I think at any given time each person wants more for their character, that is understandable. But, I would like to stand up for us melee types and make an important distinction from casters: i.e., a caster's damage production is more level driven than equipment driven. Yes, the more mana a caster has the more overall damage they can do. However, a caster at lvl 40 is going to have the same spells available to him/her that other casters at that lvl have. Some spells are NPC drop, but most if not nearly all of those can be purchased easy enough. Moreover, a caster needs only trully worry about ONE stat increase (either int or wis). Most of my non-twinked caster friends had int or wis near or over 200 in the early or mid thirties. Compare to a melee. First, a melee of same class and race at lvl 40 can be way out of line with another melee at lvl 40 of the same class and race because of difference in weapon type or equipment types. Several levels worth of difference actually from what I have seen in the PvP arena. Case in point, AC is not built into most classes (not sure of monks and what they have going) and, try boosting agi, dex and str at the same time too. A melee has to make a decision what they are looking for (trade AC for HP increase?). A caster only needs to ask one question: will that item I want to purchase give me more int/wis than what I have? I am not saying casters are better, or that melees don't have the opportunity to make themselves useful. What I am saying is please keep a perspective. PS: the game changes as you reach level 50 and above. I don't have much experience at those levels so my opinions are only based from my experiences there down.

Sounds about right, only it comes down to balancing int/wis, hp/mana, and saves.
Uber Ranger Item
# Jul 12 2001 at 12:36 AM Rating: Default
Ok this is great for Rangers. If it drops... GIVE IT TO THE RANGER!!! The palys and sks need more ac as its been said. They do more tanking than the ranger. The ranger is a dmg doer not reciever plain and simple. The wis will help out his damage doin with the spells he'll be casting. Wether it's dd's or whatever, if the paly or sk have it while tanking, then they wont get many spells off because of the mob whomping on them. So dont be greedy and help out the rangers, they need all the help they can get with Verant screwin em at every turn.

uh not really.... i had a chipped velium amulet(less ac) and i got this . had a ranger in the group too, said it sucked and i could have it:) also before this i had 85int.... so kinda proves taht not only rangers need it
Not really anymore
# Jul 11 2001 at 1:57 AM Rating: Default
Funny thing about game balance is that it is way too far in the direction of the melees right now,so right now it wouldnt really be overpowered anymore that much, but back when this came out it would have been way too powerful
RE: Not really anymore
# Nov 09 2001 at 7:25 PM Rating: Good
You really think game balance favors melees? i beg to differ but that is just not correct. if you go to everquest.com you will find info on the alliance server, where they keep track of who kills who. you want to guess who is on top all the time? halfling druids....with the ocasional DE wizard here and there...no tanks at all. and really when was the last time you heard of a tank "quading" yellows? like a druids (mostly) and other casters? give me one yellow and ill show you my back side as i run for the zone! LOL
RE: Not really anymore
# Nov 27 2001 at 8:42 AM Rating: Default
Druids can't quad yellows, the mobs resist barely often enough that there is no way they will have the mana. There are a few exceptions, like people at level 34 with velious quest armor and a TON of mana items, but for the most part, a druid with a wis of 200 and little else in the way of mana items can't even touch quadding except on low blues, plain and simple.

You say "they can med up enough to cast another nuke" Snare (and Ensnare, for that matter) doesn't last forever, and it's difficult to resnare a group of mobs and line them back up for quadding, especially when you are oom. Now, a 34 druid with a C2, insight, and GoM CAN quad the docks in butcher, I've done it before, but that's not TRUE soloing, and it was STILL difficult.
RE: Not really anymore
# Dec 30 2001 at 4:31 PM Rating: Default
This is probably the worst post I've ever seen Essar....I signed up just so I could explain how wrong you are. First of all you MUST be at least lvl 42 to receive Clarity 2 so there is no way your druid could have had it. Second ensnare lasts 13min so it practically does last forever. If you don't kill your mob in 13min you're probably oom and zoning by that time. Third its not hard to resnare mobs as a lvl 45 druid with Elder Spiritists Gaunts have clickable snare which is manaless and they are very cheap for that matter. Fourth druid can quad yellows as I myself had in Eastern Wastes. I think I would know a little more then a 34 druid.

Seems kinda sad, the only people who would gte much use from this cant use it, the 13wis isa good for paladins and rangers, and the 13int is nice for SK's, but dontcha think druids clerics and all that good crap should be able to use it?
Nice

Better ac than what i have now (+4 str int necklace) but wouldnt use it during fight unless i needed mana that bad...or was working on tradeskill

this was intended for hybrids...who could use the int and wis very much. Find other ways to get the ac back not many hybrid items have that much int or wis on one item..are yall nuts hell ya this is useful particularly if you are a hybrid first timer who doesnt have a lev 60 charachter in which to twink. Get a clue what is the ac of the bracers or breastplate you have i bet I can find one with better ac :)

if u wanted u could park a lvl 1 pal/ranger/sk in their and waited until it dropped, considering its no drop ull usually get it. (happens all the time with these "no drop" items hehe)
low ac
# Apr 25 2001 at 7:06 PM Rating: Default
no, its not very useful for a sk or pally. the AC is extremely low. At the level I started grouping on naggy (this mob is in the way) I was using a guardian choker which is dropped of a mob over 10 lvl's lower for 3 more AC. I won the roll on this and a no drop sword that had effect serpent sight and let a blind barb take the sword (i'm a def so it was useless) and a pally who didn't understand the concept that tanks need AC almost before any other stat.
RE: low ac
# Sep 09 2001 at 2:56 AM Rating: Default
has good ac is right, and also about that guardian choker im an iksar sk, i cant wear plate!! so maybe for DE sk's this sux(the easiest sk class by far) but for every other one it definately does not

13 wisdom or intelligence - how many mana is that...i'm not doing the math but its ALOT. As a paladin I'm expected to heal myself and others and Sks are expected to use their spells to use spell to increase damage and fear etc, but unless they are Dark Elves are pretty intelligence poor. Rangers have some fine nukes, dots, snare, and buffs but not alot of wisdom. This quantity of wisdom would surely improve those abilities. I'd gladly wear the thing even if it were 0 AC. This item rocks for a hybrid.

# Mar 08 2002 at 6:00 AM Rating: Default
i don't know what lvl you are, Galadril, but as the proud owner of a 47 cleric, i must say that if a pally is expected to keep the group healed, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong. while it's true that pallies can make decent PL'ers, their heal is far too weak to be relied upon as the main source of life if you're fighting in places like this.

On raids, paladins use group heals to top off the health of nearby characters who are not the ones getting beat on. Clerics are usually completely tied up with healing the MT, and paladins make all the main healers' jobs that much easier.

Are you joking? This is nice AC for a neck piece. I see too many warriors and such wearing those golden black pearl chokers with no ac at all. 7 ac for a neck piece is nice.

Actually there is this crazy thing called game balance, this item is good for a paladin, but not overpowered. This same item for a wizard would be ridiculously over powered.
