Its a good thing the person who first did this quest had a good name. I don't think i would particularly want it if it were named "droodwillportjoo's earring of nature"
Been a long time

Brilliant acheivement by a great person, although you did steal my druid's name for ya surname thanks for that Xanthe i wish SoE could of used ya lastname for earring though it would of made up for it hehe =D. Again congratz on job well done.

so in order to get both earrings i would have to do xanths earring first...turn it in for the solstice earring then do the quest again for the xanths earring?

That is correct. If you have a Xanths earring on when you do the quest a second time, you will be in a world of hurt. I recommend doing the quest and get the solstice earring then doing it again for the other one in 2 different sessions. May take more time but you will have less chance of losing 5k or more pp for these.

Side note: I deleted the first spell that I received along with this before I did it again just to be OVERLY careful. I am not rich by any means. 8)

The level for effect on this item is NOT 50
# Apr 14 2004 at 5:08 PM Rating: Decent
I can click it at level 47 on my druid. I don't think the level for click is 47, but I just noticed it does click at 47. I would guess 45 or 46.

The minimum level neede to use the effect on this earring is level 44. I have a level 44 druid and I am able to use this earring to transport a group to the Druid Ring in the Dreadlands.

This is the earring that made me want to move to Stormhammer. I'm currently LDoNing my mage to heck and back trying to get at least 46 so I can hit the planes and start working on flags and my epic...having a mage only staff or something named Brenyaa's Staff of the whatever would be more than awesome. And have you seen the bonuses that Legends server players get? Interactive maps? Pre-announced GM events? It's insane...definately worth the extra 15 or so dollars a month IMHO.

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can use both of the earrings together, like have the earring of soltice on one ear and having the xanthe's earring of nature in the other? just wanted to know if anyone tried it.

I just made the ring, on the spur of the moment, and without really shopping for bargains.. Total of all components on Xegony server on 12/26/03 was 5149 pp... But for the next one,(or rather back to the first one) I will shop around for lower prices. Most expensive item was the fishing rod at 1720pp. Next was the Mistletoe cutting sickle at 1400pp, Not a bad weap in itself. Each of these earrings is definitely worth the cost...

this sounds like a totally awesome quest. i want to try it so bad i can taste it! i've been working a lot on my tradeskills while sitting in the bazaar (i SHOULD be working on my level, i know!). i was just wondering, is it worth it right now for me to attempt to attain this as a 39 druid? anyone know how to determine what the stats will be for someone lower than 51? (i'm not concerned about the effects)

Dont worry about the stats yet, it is a good quest for a 39 durid. The items are extremely expsensive, i just spent 3k and i only have 5 of the items. I expect the others to cost at least another 2k, but my server is very expensive.

Nice quest
# Jun 10 2003 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
Nice quest i must say. Although it can be completed easily with about 5kpp ( based on prices on the Nameless server) in the bazaar most items are sold by tradeskillers in bazaar for a decent price. Also if you are a Wis based caster that worships Tunare, you may want to pick up an extra Golden Idol of Tunare for your range slot it fits so very well there.

Could you imagine portbish's earring of nature /shudder

Last part of that earring you were talking about is dropped by Lord Inquistor Seru, the man is a god, and good luck having a best of the best raid line to kill him. 15 is allowed to enter the room, no one else can enter or leave. After completing the quest you get Sigil earring of Vercity (i think that's what it was called) look him up

I for one never considered Bertox server as the "green" server. Bertox is probably one of the best server out there. I know because my RL GF plays on Bertox. :P

Also, for the last 3 years, Bertox has been split 3 or 4 times which lost a lot of their veteran players.

So, I am glad to see Bertox server mentioned. It has been a while. :)

I think it's great that he has those kinda stats in all the tradeskills. Shows a lot of commitment and hard work. Gratz on the Stats bro, and ignore pinheads like this.

*sigh* This quest has had me a bit depressed, playing a dark elf...I think it is still doable if you are Dark Elf, but unlike old norrath, there just doesn't seem to be any evil race lore anymore =/, it's like we fell out of the storyline =(.. Heh, both my cleric and shadowknight are kos in sseru and katta - was kind of upset mostly because there are some very nice quests in those cities. I can always raise my faction easy enough, but you would think that if they hate us and want to kill us, then dark elves, worshiping the Prince of Hate and all, would rather just kill them than make friends with them '_'...

Just kind of wish evil races got more of our own lore rather than kissing good race **** just to get anywhere heh =(. Anyone who plays an evil race and was on Luclin when it first came out knows how much it sucked hearing all our good race counterparts doing so many exciting quests that weren't accessible to us at the time, and like, what were we doing =/...the Coterie mask of the dead quest haha =/, nerfed to the point where it met many destroy buttons across Norrath including mine >_<.

I had to have a wood elf mule go into katta to get the rallic pack pattern for me =/. I dunno, just sux that we have to kiss so much good race **** cuz our own people have nothing to offer (no quests of our own). Maybe it makes as little sense as why Paladins get a sword that procs spirit tap (no flames for this comment please). Pallies are supposed to be lifebringers not lifetakers >_<. And I see people paying like 100k for gnome masks...and dark elf masks are like a dime a dozen =(..is our race just not worth very much =(? *cries* Ah well... maybe someday...

Team effort
# Jun 11 2002 at 5:15 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi there:)

I would just like to acknowledge the effort of the many many people who took part in deciphering this quest. Tons of people from EqTraders, EqDruids, and the Druid's Grove (amongst others I am sure) spent a lot of time and effort, reporting things as they found them, in the interests of helping the tradeskill community as a whole.

There were people who translated the texts into common so that others could read them. Other people speculated the possible recipes from the riddles in the common language. Still others tested those recipes time and again and reported their findings.

I was only one of many people who helped in the solving of this quest, and while I was the first to report a few of the item recipes, and the first to complete the quest I would not have succeeded without the generous help of others, and their insights into the available information.

This quest has been the most exciting thing I have had the priviledge to be a part of since I began playing Everquest, and it shows what the player community is capable of when it pulls together.

Verant deserve a big grats for coming up with something like this, that has worked out for everyone so well (both earrings are great, the Solstice even for non-casters), and the players deserve an even bigger grats for helping one another to complete what is one of the most fabulous quests ever devised.

I have completed 5 of the 9 items needed for this quest and I must admit, it's the most fun quest I have been done so far. It's very challenging, both in time and money. It requires all the skills and so far I have been able to do all the combines myself except for one item. So far, I haven't spent a lot of money on this since I have been saving major items all along, such as rubies, sapphires etc. I have also been extremely lucky on the combines. My skills range from 120 in tailoring to 197 in smithing. Most of the final combines are 250 trivial yet I have been able to combine at a rate of about 35% success range. I will continue this quest and will write up a complete steps sometimes soon.

You have no need to do a writeup on this quest. http://www.eqtraders.com already has a full writeup. While I havent tried it, it is based primarily on Xanthe's information so I am sure its acurrate.

Xanthe put in several sleepless days translating the books, and deciphering the riddles in them in order to complete this quest.

The quest results in Xanthe's earring of nature, and the no-drop Druid scroll "Protection of the cabbage", which is a single target Prot. of the Glades.

If you are a non druid, you can still do the quest, and turn in the earring for the all/all version - Earring of solstice.

You can find all the info about this quest at eqtraders.com. You can turn in your earring to Rebecca Cabbageleaf in FG on the moon for the other earring. She's the little halfling at the end of the town just before you get to the tunnel.

Fixed minor spelling mistake.

I got both earings in 2 days.. This has to be the easiest quest I have ever done for such powerful earings..

Very simple.. Find 9 people with 230-250 tradeskills and be there middleman :) In a matter of 2 days you get everything you need.

And go druids for having one of the best earings going... Within reach of any and all druids!

Let all other classes drool over a druid with both of these!

OK, here is the place to go for the walkthrough.
Or at least how I found it.
eqdruids has a links page to The Trader's Workshop, a website devoted to how to quickly boost the tradeskills. I think it is run by Xanthe's player, and it does have a fully detailed walkthrough for the Protection of Cabbage quest. Get those tradeskills up though. You will need them all around 200 or so from what I saw.
