You won't find many Paladins using this sword anymore. The weapon is still popular, don't get me wrong...just with Shadow for Paladins? well...

Goo-Covered Knight's Blade:
Price - (4k - 7k Depending on server)
Skill: 1Hand Slash
Has a Required Level of 51

Mace of the Fallen Crusader:
Price - (500pp - 1500pp Depending on server)
Skill: 1Hand Blunt
21Dmg/25Dly - DMG Bonus
Has a Recommended Level of 53

Honestly, I think the 2 weapons are pretty much on par with one another, with the Mace slightly more powerful. It is the price that makes the Mace commonly used, and leaves the Sword collecting dust waiting for a Shadow Knight in the bazaar.

I dont care about the debate between 1hs and 2hs, I frankly like to use both. But what I was wondering which would be better out of this and the LSoEE? Both are going for around the same price right now on Tribunal and im looking to get a new 1hs. So as far as dmg goes which would be better?

Well once you can equip this, ther is no contest. OOze has better ratio, even ignoring the resists on the magic Dam, and is faster, giving better taunt and more use of damage bonus. They are not even close.

LSoEE is priced to be an off hand weapon, one of the best you can reasonably get, especially for rangers and rogues.

It's a moot point, you can't equip it until 51st level

How can this go in either melee if it is being used by a Paladin or a Shadow Knight? hehe i don't get it

level 60 paladin here and all you people arguing doesnt change the numbers.
In this example, I use Greatsword of Discipline at times (also have FD), SOLO.....of course I have 61% total self haste (cocw + VoM spell).

2hs far outdamages 1hs.
All you need to do is run the numbers with the various parsers out there.
Even just using a 1hs a few times on one mob, then using the 2hs a few times again on same mob, you will notice just how long it takes to bring it down.
More time the mob is alive, the more time it beats you up which equals more mana spent healing you/yourself.

Paladins of Norrath forums over at has much discussion on the 1h vs 2h debate.

Check out Luthair's EQ Damage calculator here:

EQ Watcher Advanced has a nice basic real time verbal parsing of your damage, plus other audio cues.

I will admit bashing is not a concern with me, as I just use FD if I want to bash and still have a good DPS w/155 DD proc included.

This sword isnt all that different from the Sebilis dropped Sword of the Morning 16/27.
I sold mine.

A Tae Ew War Maul 33/36 will outdamage this 17/22.

Someone in the Bazaar right now is trying to sell this for 17k. Right :P

I agree to a point. I also use Greatsword of Discipline, and also use it solo if not fighting casters, in which case I prefer a shield for both resists and bashing; as a SK bashing is my spell interrupt.

The DPM difference is there, but when a Pali or SK takes the MA role, the difference isn't (I don't believe) to offset the delay, which can affect aggro management. This isn't a discussion on whether either class can keep aggro -- we can, especially with the new SK spells to add it. This is rather a claim that it is *easier* to manage aggro with a faster weapon - a few missed rounds don't matter much in that case.

So my experiences (not as much as the previous poster...only a 53 here)

Small group/pairing: Usually low ratio, big 2HS, currently Greatsword of discipline (51/54). Many of these don't have stats

Solo: 2HS, perhaps not the biggest to get stats. Currently Polished Shai'Din Naginata (38/45 many stats)

MA role: fastest weapon I can get. Currently Shard of Night (21/24) paired with Atrementous shield for bash. I want speed, just like a warrior\

Off-tank: ALWAYS big weapon unless there is need to interrupt caster, in which case will switch to shield.

So - yeah I agree on the DPM, but use the aboe strategies in general.

Btw you CANNOT equip this if you aren't 51, I got one and I'm 39, i figured the stats would just be a little lower, well they are and I couldn't equip it so I just gave it to my friend.

I got one of these a few weeks ago and it has become my main weapon. The graphics on it are very nice also. There's a skull on the sword. Check out my magelo and my background picture has me wielding it. I also have a better pic of it on this link

I just got this sword on Luclin Server, paid about 5k with trades. I have a 53 paladin and I can honestly say that in a group that I am MT I would rather use this and a shield than my Fiery Avenger. Hitting for 55+ that fast is a great Argo holder, and with self haste... my god it is nice. Oh and the person that said "Most high level knights are carrying around 1hs's that have a greater damage than delay" (ie 22/17) Pull your head out of your *** an do a search for 1hs based only on ratio... hmmm how many do you see with a damage higher than its ratio?
Go ebay!

I'm sorry, but most high level knights DO carry around a 1h with a ratio of 1.0 or better. Dawncaller is common and more rot than end up being looted. Others like EBSoP are fairly common as well.

I would have to agree that if youre main tank with a rogue in your party, i would definately go 1hs, especially with the new crafted shield trollies can make as seen here.

This weapon or my twinkie erud sk's Edge of Honor do a fine job on account of low delay (you miss 1 or no swings when casting that lvl 9 disease spell for aggro)

Picked up one these for 3Kpp just a few minutes ago in the Tunnle on Erollisi Marr. From what I've heard they are common drops in CT and Guilds are picking them up quite a bit on raids. Honestly I cant see Pal's and SK's using a whole lot since they get 2HS bonus now, but it's still a descent weapon for mid levels.

Put down the crack pipe and step away from your brand new K-mart computer.

You can't see paladins using 1hs, get real. A closed mind is not waste, donate yours to science. Any paladin that uses the same weapon for every mob should be shot.

2hs is used for druids, and tank killing. But from what you are saying paladins should swing that 2hs tree for all mobs?

Pure caster classes, should use a fast 1hs with shield, more hits more chances to interupt.

I say BAH at the way you say a class should be played.

You are either not a paladin or bought your toon on E-Bay.

Get Soul defiler Instead
# May 29 2002 at 4:42 PM Rating: Default
Soul defiler blows this out of the water .. and in case you think "I'll never get that" .. two of the SK's in our guild were 'given' theirs by other guilds.
RE: Get Soul defiler Instead
# Dec 11 2002 at 9:32 PM Rating: Decent
Let's see... you are trying to compare a weapon from higher end velious to a weapon that drops in CT. Obviously Soul Defiler is an easy choice over this, that's like choosing between either this or Dawncaller for a paladin. Also, some possible reasons why two members of your guild recieved the loot rights to Soul Defiler were either (a) The SKs on that raid were narrow minded and didn't understand the real benefits of using a 1hs weapon with a shield, (b) the SKs had superior weapons (Although Soul Defiler is very very good in terms of overall stats and dmg/dly), (c) The SKs on said raid were on serious drugs/afk/LD, or (d) There were no SKs on that raid so they would have rotted anyway. So please, don't compare "apples" and "oranges" or in this case high end weapons and very high end weapons.

I always use 1hs since I have a Darkmetal Falchion (27 29 7 wis 7 itel.) I have an Argent Protector but since my 1hs has a better ratio and does more damage per second than my 2hs, I never use it.

The ratio on this sword is not very good for a Pally/SK 1hs. Most Pallys using 1hs are carrying either higher damage than delay weapon or something that is 2-3 damage short of delay. Otherwise they use 2hs. We do not do the damage, since we can not duel wield, when we are weilding low delay weapons and in raid situations end up gaining aggro far too much.
RE: 1hs
# May 29 2002 at 1:28 PM Rating: Decent
AP will outdamage the DMF due to the 2 handed damage bonus. On the surface it looks like the DMF is the superior weapon, but 1 handers have a low static damage bonus. So the AP will actually put out significantly more damage then the DMF even though it has a better ratio.
I'd bet AP puts out 20% more damage than the DMF.

This weapon will perform alot better than you think again due to the damage bonus. On a 1 hander it's always the same, so the faster weapons actually parse out ahead of the slower ones with better ratios.

1hs and shield
# May 29 2002 at 12:19 AM Rating: Default
Yeah a 1hs and a shield is looked down upon as not doing enuff dmg but when it all comes down to it if u have a 17 22 weapon or a 28 30 weapon as a 1hs you are gonna do some serious damage and fast too...myself I never use a 2hs unless I know there are no spell casters around and I am not main tank otherwise ill take the extra 30-40ac and saves that a shield give me.
either melee

its not lore and you use it either melee, glad to see you sk's and pallies can finally duel weild!

thats just a joke btw(
Yeah, pretty nice hehe

Always handy to carry around a sword/shield combo in my humble opinion just for those occasions where you happen to be a MT in a pick up group or where bash may be useful to augment your 6 or 7 other stuns. And with a D/dly like that, you'll be dealing out very respectable damage even though you're only using 1hs.

I'm glad to see that verant finnaly made a weapon that is sk/pal usable that has both wis and int so it helps either class and the samme ammount to each stat!! Only I don't know too many high end knights using 1hs anymore when 2hs can do so much more damage. Unless they have a 1hs and shield combo for resists. Just my opinion.
