race and class...

The race and class restrictions... that's just to use it right, and not to make it?

Any potter with high skill can make it. My human cleric's faithstone was made by a high elf.

Like the scripture says, believith in me, if it were otherwise i would of told you so--if your gate is bound elsewhere, and your in OOT lets say and need a way out, would you then have faith?
big fat deal
# Jan 11 2003 at 11:40 PM Rating: Default
So what is the big fat deal with this? Whoopideedoo. I can use a PoK stone to get to felwithe and then just zone it. So why pay 5k to make this stupid thing anyway. Just my humble opinion
RE: big fat deal
# May 13 2003 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
As a cleric who fights a lot at Seb - now I can bind outside Seb - when I need C3 - I hit Faithstone - go to PoK get C3 - gate back to outside Seb.

Have you ever tried to run to and back from Seb?
RE: big fat deal

More than the other guy said, it allows a cleric to get to PoK safely without binding anywhere near a book. You can bind in some REALLY remote location, 5 zones from a book, and get out safely. For safe travel purposes, it negates the need to bind in PoK or Nexus.

Even better, bind yourself someplace far from a port loc and far from a book. Now you can get there a lot easier, at the slight cost of having a couple zones to get to Nexus or PoK.
RE: big fat deal
# Jan 27 2003 at 2:38 AM Rating: Excellent
The big fat deal is that it allow the the user, Tunare Clerics, to have two bind points one at felwithe and one other of their choosing. Great for hunting in a far off zone, binding there then praying to tunare, sell off items or restock, then gate back to your bind point.

As the creator/submitter of this item I know first hand what is involved in making this :)

Average cost for 20 attempts is 5k plat.

What you need:
+- 20 Faydark Essences
--+ 20 Foraged Cinnamon Sticks + 20 Waters, combined individually in a Brewing Barral. Trivial at ~130. (Common forage in Gfay w/ 200 skill)
+- 20 Celestial Essences
--+ Buy Tears of Prexus off Inn 3 Vendor in EC. (1 plat each) Buy Celestial Solvents off a Vendor in the Bazaar. Combine both items in a Morter and Pestle (sold in Thurg from the poison vendor). Never-Fail combine.
+- 20 Large Enchanted Clay Bricks
--+ Level 9 ENC spell, enchanted bricks do not stack
+- 20 Vials of Distilled Mana
--+ Level 39 ENC spell, 800 mana a cast. (sold at Brownie camp in LFAY), requires 40 Sapphires (4200 plat at best faction/cha), and 20 Poison Vials (sold from Windmill Vendor in LOIO, 1 plat each)
+- 20 Flasks of Water
--+ Vendor Bought
+- 20 Idol Sketches
--+ Vendor Bought
+- Sculpting Tools
--+ Vendor Bought

At 192 Pottery, I combine 1 per 20 attempts on Average. I have attempted over 90, created only 5 Idols. Trivial is estimated to be 260-270.

Fire the unfired Idol result with a HQ Firing Sheet and Divine Crystalline Glaze

Divine Crystalline Glaze (combine in Glazing Bowl, sold from Vendors)
========================
+- Iron Oxide
--+ 8 hour ground spawn in Steamfont near Mino Caves. 1% chance of dropping off any elemental. Hole, Najena, Lavastorm, Steamfont, Twilight Sea, etc.
+- Permafrost Crystal
--+ Common drop off any goblin in Permafrost.
+- White Lead
--+ Combine Lead Sulfide + Limestone in a Mortar and Pestle. (Northern Kaladam Vendor near Bank sells the Lead Sulfide and Limestone)
+- Flask of Water

Combine all 4 items in a Glazing Bowl for the Divine Crystalline Glaze (no fail, always combines).

It's easier to get the vials from the DE poison vendor at the entrance to the sewers in west freeport.

p.s. there has to be a lot of HE clerics that wish they had their Tunare faction up after farming PoG for armor and gems. Shows them not to turn their back on their own race!

thanks great info post..
but im curious ..are you failing on the combines? at the first mix? or at the hq sheet stage?
and is the firing a smith skill check? or all pottery?
RE: More complete recipe...
# May 21 2002 at 12:02 PM Rating: Excellent
Creation of the Essences = Brewing Skill
Everything else = Pottery Skill

The actual firing only has a 1% chance of failing. The hard part is creating the Unfired Faithstone on the Pottery Wheel.

I know we get a lot, but last time I checked we druids were priests of Tunare. We just happen to be shorter and have darker skin.

Any chance we will get ones for us to get to Kel? I get good prices in Kel, but running across two zones is less convenient to me than running to Thurg so I never go to Kel.

Hmmm. Waitaminute - no more time spent in Gfaymart than I alrady spend there. Hmmm. Nevermind. I prefer Thurg, and a Thurg gate potion is easy to make...
Think about it
# May 16 2002 at 6:46 AM Rating: Decent
Clerics and Shaman can only gate to their bind point. This item gives them an ability to gate to two different points, assuming their bind point is somewhere other than their 'home town'.

Druids don't have this limitation; they can load up a spell and get close to just about any 'home town' they want to, usually in less time than it takes to cast this 30 second gate. This is probably Verant's logic for not including the Druid in this 'priest class' item.

Recommended level on spells
# May 16 2002 at 12:40 AM Rating: Good
Does the recommended lvl mean that a lvl 25 using it would only be ported half way?
RE: Recommended level on spells
# Mar 28 2003 at 6:07 PM Rating: Default
No... only half of you would be transported, that half chosen randomly. If the clerics don't pee their pants laughing at your half-corpse flopping on the floor they may resurrect you.

May.

BD?
# May 16 2002 at 12:33 AM Rating: Decent
Been checking the recipes for this and it does not require a BD. The Celestial Temper requires a BD, but these use Celestial Essense which is made with a research component and Celestial Solvent.

but its a gate
# May 15 2002 at 9:04 PM Rating: Default
i know most clerics try to bind close to where they are hunting. Now with this my fiancee' can Gate back home to sell then gate back to where she is hunting. Pretty nice and for a blue diamond ahh thats cheap.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 15 2002 at 9:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh yeah, only one BD per GATE... omfg this is worthless... sigh
RE: but its a gate
# May 15 2002 at 10:22 PM Rating: Default
They dont "eat" blue diamonds. a BD is needed to make this, then its unlimited gate. Ill gladly kill a BD for something like this.
gates the cleric home
# May 15 2002 at 7:45 PM Rating: Decent
Yes it gates the cleric home to felwithe.

I believe it is a self gate to their 'home' temple.

Same with all the other CLR faithstones out there.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 15 2002 at 6:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) A heal perhaps? That would explain the 30 second time on it...
