nothing that is a clickable item is useless if your a bard and singgggginnnggg away haveing something that does any extra dammage is a help
That is incorrect, this item is useless for a Bard. Ten seconds to cast a spell that you have to be in melee distance to use is never going to be used. 12DMG at the level you must be to even put this on is a complete waste. You may as well hit with an empty hand, it's faster and will cause more than 12dmg.
not to mention anything youreattacking at that level will resist this 99% of the time
I was trying to find a reason for this effect not to be useless. I was thinking that for classes with no range attacks or spells it could be used for pulling. But that's not true of the above....plus it's a 10 second cast.

Sure by todays standards the items from the shawl quest are useless. But consider when it first came out, it was pretty nice equipment. Even in this day and age with so much equipment, the Coldain Shawl is not much, but is a good way to get those skills up...
And if ya still have 1 rotting away in bank or what ever, its worth 11k+ tribute.

One thing about the proc is its VERY VERY SHORT RANGE. Almost in swinging distance. I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my warrior to pull with (hate dealing with bows and arrows) but NOOOOOO. This nuke on this helm it pretty much without value. I'm going to try to resell this helm and get a better one with more STA, HP, and AC.
Helm is also a fairly bright light source.
Contrary to the picture above, this is now tagged "Required Level of 51". Just picked it up yesterday and didn't notice until after the purchase. My 46 ranger don't wanna wait 5 lvls to upgrade his ivy helm, so I will sell back at cost of 2k pp. Send tell on Rodcet Nife to branko

I myself couldnt care what the items look like, only the stats are what I am after. Mainly because the posts asking about what it looks like takes up a lot of time to read and scroll thru for information on acquiring the item. Anyways since so many are asking I wondered if those interested (even me) would email Allahkazam to either place another pic next to the info icon of what the item looks like while worn. Or we could suggest making another fashion table for items other than just chest items.

This is a great upgrade for the soloing Ranger, lvl 51 and later at least. Great upgrade from Tolan's Helm, same AC but has stats. The proc is useless, only good for showing off for newbies, or if you want to do a little damage while power leveling someone.
As for its looks, matches perfectly on a Half-Elf Ranger wearing Engraved Royal Velium Plate and any of the Dragonspine, Dragonleg, ect ... armor that shows up in a blue shade.
Paid about 2500pp for this item and think it was worth every pp. Haven't seen any others for sale since I bought it, and was looking for a Dragonskull helm before this one, but those are nearly impossible to find in the higher quality versions.
In Summary great Ranger helm, can't speak for other classes since I don't play them.

In new models, the helm looks like the Tolan's helm (pieces across the face with the spike sticking out of the top) and it is a deep dark blue. Kinda clashes with most gear ;p

It is, however, a useful item without that. Also, the proc can be used a bit for vertical pulling in Velks.
Sorry, but it isn't a proc - proc stands for 'process' which, as the name suggests, means a random effect which is processed during use (ie combat, as you said). This would be called a 'clicker' or similar, since you click on the effect. Learn before talk, mate.

I mean WTF the range is nil you can even get close enough to pull with the damn thing before u agro. This has to be THE most, hands down, REDICULOUS effect on an item of this stature. BLAH to this. I got it, the stats are nice, but I wish the AC was at least better than DW for god sakes. Oh well. It matches my ToV :)

I talked to a Guide after getting this (from a friend) becuase it said I couldn't wear it (my race/class/deity combo was fine thoug) and they said that sometimes recommended level meant required level.
Whats all this stuff about procs? This item has nothing to do with velium procs. The velium shards effect on this is a right-click effect, NOT A PROC.

Velium weapons dont Proc till Lvl 30.
Actually, weapons that proc Velium Shards all proc at level 25...
Why did they go through the trouble of putting that stupid proc with an even more ridiculous casting time (10.0)? Its only a 12 dmg ice spell omg! I might use it if I was looking to LOOSE agro of a mob considering all the wasted time I would spend casting the worthless spell when I could have been meleeing.

I believe that you are correct about the reccomended lvl making your stats go down but am almost certain that the proc remains the same. Velium shards proc at about 12 damage well the ones on velium wepons do and so does my Ice forged shackles

ok, from what i know if your lower than the recomended lvl the stats tend to go down depending on your lvl on most items like that, but what about the triggered effect? i thought that like the velium weapons usually proced at like 20-25 or so, can ne one fill me in with some info?
