I was confused as to exactly which molds to use, so I looked it up on EQTraders ... you have to use the "Breastplate Mold" and other such (i.e. "Greaves Mold" like the ones sold on Magnor Quok in PoK). The info below is from EQTraders:

First, learn to be patient, then maybe look on Eq news sites, then maybe look on Eq news sites that are about tradeskills (eg. eqtraders.com), then enjoy the newly posted material.

Why the hell doesn't VI figure it out?

People bust their *** to earn ability in any trade skill and VI doesn't make it worth the while to continue to have the skill with each expansion pack. Once upon a time it was worth the effort to be a blacksmith so you could make armor equal to the original planar armor which, at that time, was the most uber around.

VI has taken the effort to make gear with better stats both droppable and questable but what the hell happened to making it worthwhile for tradeskills? Now seeing this, you have to quest it, then make it, and guess what? It's no drop.

Why the hell doesn't VI raise the ceiling on tradeskill items and make it worthwhile again?

When the hell are the Vah Shir gonna get some cutural. We have whole quests in smithing and tailoring. But no Cultural. HAY VI GET OFF YOUR A$$ and give us some cultural's.

Some of the cultural BPs are ac51 with nice stats some of the bracers are as high as ac30 also with nice stats.

You haven't seen the other new armors that verant added yet, I gather. The new human cultural is amazing, from what I have seen on EQTRADERS. The BRACER has 25 ac, and stats to boot. +30 hp and mana, among others. forget the rest.
