PLease add that this is used to make the rough belt strap (MQ rockhopper x 2 plus Vah Shir Skinning Knife = trivial 36) and that this rough belt strap is required to progress in Broker Fahaar's Vah Shir Tailoring Quest by making bone beaded and chitin belts.

You can find low, medium and high quality rockhopper hides on needle-clawed hoppers in Shadeweavers Thicket. I would say as uncommon to rare drops.

What, if any, are the uses of this item?
Several tailoring uses. Personally, I like to skin them down to low quality, using a skinning knife, then make leather paddings for blacksmithing out of them :)
